I actually really like the ideas behind the new challenge mode dungeons. Stronger enemies, sure, but the affixes change the way you have to play and can force you to adjust your strategy week to week. The system itself is good, it's just that it's overlayed on top of a decade old amusement-park style MMO.
Only thing I can't agree with you on, boss. The gameplay, rotations and encounters are multiple orders of magnitude more complex and skill-intensive than they were at launch. It's not enough to breath life into the corpse of this game, but WoW has only raised its skill ceiling over the years.

wow sadly is my abusive on-again-off-again boyfriend and i went back to him for wod and i can tell you for free, as a player who actually wanted to enjoy it and looked harder than the average player might have for the fun, i still unsubbed after three weeks. they added nothing of note, like literally nothing. the starting cinematic gives you so much hope - oh shit! did the horde just sell out the alliance? are we finally going to un-whitewash the two factions and have meaningful, enjoyable pvp again? the answer is no, they handwave everything away almost immediately and ONCE AGAIN THERE IS A GREAT EVIL THAT REQUIRES THE HORDE AND ALLIANCE TO STAND SHOULDER TO SHOULDER AND FACE THE ONSLAUGHT OF i can't even do it
the class hall stuff is neat until you realize that it's a literal fucking mobile game baked into ten more levels of pointless, unrewarding grind. the artifact weapon leveling is cool as shit until you reach a level, for me within just a few days, where upgrading it costs an unbelievable amount of (((resource))) and you need to get on that treadmill and fucking grind like crazy for it. i will say that a couple of the new dungeons are neat - one in particular can be approached in a variety of different ways, and even though this really boils down to "you can kill the bosses in a different order if you want" it still feels good in a weird way. there is also another dungeon/instance where you die and end up in viking hell and have to fight your way out, but aside from that? they added a new "continent" that isn't interesting and doesn't let you fly (i hear they patched it and added flight but i don't know), hundreds of new quests that still essentially boil down to "kill x amount of y, bring their urethras to NPC z", and a story that even by wow standards is uninteresting and bland
