Socialism, Communism, Your ideal society

What happens to debt?
Lets say the person would not be able to eat a calorie maintenance diet and live in a shoebox if they were actually paying off interest +principal on their debt.
You could also discuss any other scenarios of how the debt was acquired and how much money the person currently has or is making.

My student loan gets written off and absorbed by the tax payer when I fail to get a job ever.

dept will not exist on a moneyless society

Lets see who owns these debts

Wel the government is now socialist/communist so we can scrap that
Well those are owned by the bourgoiesie, which we collectivise the property from, so thats that crossed off

Thats the same as the last one
Well the government is now owned by us so that fixes that. Its not like you won't get it back from taxes anyway. And they get written off when you can get a job already, so.

Debt goes into the dustbin of history.

This should be the primary driving point of socialism recruitment.
Has anyone written in depth works on this that will counteract any claims by ancaps that "this would make the government immediately insolvent" or something similar?

Where do the bankers go?

...

thx

Debt might be one of the major issues of capitalism. It needs more discussion, how it can be dealt with in socialism, how it can be dealt with in the transition immediately from the modern governments. And how to recruit people on these points.

Debt is really weird. Wouldn't debt simply disappear if the institutions owed the debt simply disappeared? If you owe a guy money and that guy dies, you don't have to pay him anything. I guess I might be missing something here. Even if you can't dissolve the institution, there are already programs for student loan forgiveness. You aren't actually removing value from the government, right? It never had it in the first place.

Try to explain to people that printed money is debt notes. There is some strange belief among people that there is some magical infallible "checking agency" that makes sure the government has the wealth for every dollar it prints to back it.
It's as if the term "absolute power corrupts absolutely" completely becomes immaterial when its the big daddy government.

In what order?

This issue needs more discussion.

None of these things exist. Furthermore it would be a number 1 priority

Like when the Nazis took stores from the Jews before WW2 ?

How would you deal with it?

Oh, was this his lecture with Singer in the audience? Specifically to him?

We need the whole lecture.

its cancelled?

serves you right fro trying to profit from the work of others

I'm generally ignorant on the process that would take place for this to happen. I mean you can get control of government then pass a law that just goes "POOF" to all the debt but is that equally valid for central banks as for credit unions?
Does anyone have a more elaborate time delayed process in mind? Like freezing interest rates completely while dismantling the banks, installing whatever replacements people will use for their financial reputation, then barring all impositions of debt?
There are a lot of convoluted law of possession to keep in mind as well. I don't see anything good happening from just assigning billions and even trillions of assets to a fledgeling government. Think of farm confiscations and no food being grown for a season.

Does anyone else have suggestions on the real world path to solving debt?

Abolished as a concept except as debt between individuals and debt between a person and society. People are indebted to each other informally for things they do for each other. Society is indebted to any person born into it, to minimize their suffering, while a person is indebted to society for any benefits they reap. People do work to even these debts out, and they are the only debts we need (or have ever needed). Anyone promoting other notions of debt should be regarded as purveyors of witchcraft with zero material basis in their ideas.

arent banks people so that debt would remain?

NO

what about investors?
which debts between people do you refer to?

Between one person and another for exchanges they make as individuals, i.e. gifts and social functions, like procuring food when socializing. I specified that these debts are informal for a reason.

How do you abolish it?

By rebuilding society and omitting it this time. "Abolish" is just an attention grabber.

how do you rebuild a society that is on a constant path of growth and then destruction that complement each other?

By restructuring the power relations in production and policy making.

how do you do that

1. Organize lefties
2. Kill porkies and take their stuff (MoP)
3. Use their our stuff except now without an ownership class or the society they built
4. Construct new paradigm to fit the new relations of production
Not that hard.

not hard at all

Not hard to understand I mean. The detail is up to varied ideologies. Arguing about that shit is pointless. We need to field test them to go anywhere from here.
