I'm going to finish the first Trails game, but only because I've come so far. My issue with it is that by the time you've gone halfway through the game, you've already seen all the spells there are to use. As of now I'm halfway through the tournament in the royal city, and while i do give the nips props on the plotlines and how many small and large ones are all intertwined, at that point i've customized and recustomized my lines and spells so many times that battles are just more of the same. I think once you hit about 60% of the way through the first Trails game, fights start getting repetitive, even if you're up against enemies you haven't encountered before.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, but I remember having more fun with Ys and about the same amount of enjoyment from Recettear. If the battle system is expanded on in the following Trails games then I'll continue.

Just know that Ys I&II are substantially different from those that came after.

My first Civ was when Brave New World got an open demo weekend. Somebody gave me a key to vanilla and I've been brooding over which expansions are worth shelling out for or not.

Civ5 is a trash game. The AI is terrible and not fun to play against and the multiplayer kind of broken and matches can die for no reason due to networking issues.

My only point of reference is Civ2. In Civ2 the AI was more reasonable, even if limited. With Civ5 they just do everything possible to piss you off, allied or not. It just cannot into diplomacy.
