I already played FF12. I wouldn't mind Zodiac Age for the PC though.

I didn't expect QTEs… but I guess my expectations were too high.

I know how the normal battles play from the demos, (you have to hold O to auto-combo. If you press a direction while auto-comboing, you do a different move/attack. And if you hold square, you automatically dodge attacks but use your MP bar to do so. There is NO proper dodge) but I was wondering if they changed that.

That's how the Platinum and Judgment demos are.

You can get "hidden" attacks by tapping the attack button (eg with the greatsword, if you tap O, then tap and hold it, you can do a charge attack), but it's finicky, and why would you? You can't access the directional abilities from a neutral stance. Like hitting O and back at the same time.

Like with the long sword, you can do a backflip that has iframes if you hit back while holding O. But you have to be holding O first. You can't do it if you're standing still and then hit back + O at the same time. You have to hold O, go into autocombo, then input directions while holding O.

If you had no idea how the controls were and watched a video of someone taking advantage of the autocombat, you'd think that they were really skilled and the battle system is as good as Bayonetta or DMC4.

But it only looks that way. Jump in the air, hold circle to auto-air-combo (with a light weapon, like the sword or daggers), hit left/right to do mid-air dashes in the middle of the combo.

If an attack is incoming, just hold square. Noctis will go into a stance where he'll automatically dodge attacks (not sure if it's ALL attacks, but even if it's not all attacks it's still shit), consuming MP for each dodge. There is no proper dodge, like hit a button = roll/dash. There's no blocking. Parrying is tied to a weapon (at least in the Platinum demo), which is a shortsword + large shield.

It's really like… the devs watched gameplay of DMC3/4, and Bayonetta and imitated how that combat looked, without knowing how it actually plays/feels.

The model's probably cut up into parts so making different clothes and stuff isn't so labor intensive.
Also none the parts loaded aren't all that low poly at all, if you look at the silhouette.

That's really true, but I've kind of been wanting something like an "open world action" RPG, I though FFXV was going to be that, scratching that itch with the exploration and camping, and getting into hairy situations on your own. But they can't handle the "action" right. It's just bad.

It probably won't be open world for long, considering plot things happen to draw Noctis back home.

I believe Cindy appears on an off as the mechanic of the Regalia, Noctis' car. But yeah, she won't have a lot of screentime unless you give her some.

There's also Iris who's a temporary party member. But just temporary.

I have no idea why they didn't do a balanced team (two guys, two girls). One of the girls could've been the older, level-headed adviser (basically Ignis' role) and the gunner (Prompto, since he looks like the faggiest already). It's pure fujobait.

This is what irked me the most. NO SITE I read talked about the specifics of gameplay. No one mentioned it was hold button to automatically fight, and no one mentioned the on rails driving. You have control of it to some extent (you can stop and get out anywhere, for example), but no site said that you don't have full control over the car. Like you can't go crazy and drive off road and swerve onto the other lane without being pulled back onto the proper lane.

To tell you how bad this game is doing among fans even since the announcement of its revival; there aren't a lot of fanart of it. You get a lot of porn of Cindy, none of Iris, probably one or two of Lunafreya, and maybe a few yaoi bara shit, but nothing more than that.
