Are Test Drive Unlimited and TDU 2 worth playing?

Yes, they're both full of good ideas and fun to play but hindered by a lot of issues that can leave you with a meh aftertaste. And online modes are either dead (TDU) or completely unreliable (TDU2 PC).
TDU is completely ruined by the fact everyone looks like a bad tranny and the roads are made of lego.
TDU2 is at times unpleasant because of the driving physics and the story is beyond bad. Like, even worse than any NFS game.

So, take that into consideration and get into the games with moderate expectations and you should have some fun.

Yeah, worse than both of them. Which is quite an achievement.
I think NFS cutscenes came out better thanks to real actors (behind the 50 layers of post processing) while TDU2 resorted to average animations of unlikeable characters and a meh voice acting.
But most importantly, the story in TDU2 has no purpose at all. It's just a couple of cutscenes to show you the "hero" AI you'll be facing during that section of the game and to remind you you're competing for some sort of overarching championship. All of that while trying to look "cool" like a teenager going to parties tries to look cool.

Not like it matters much to me. The online doesn't work relaibly for me and actually racing is easily the least fun part about Forza. Tuning cars, making paints for the cars and driving around in the world doing the various challenges is so much more fun than dealing with the shit tracks and pushy rubberband AI that likes to change from their driving line to infront of you just to brake causing you to either bump into them or end up god knows where because of the sudden correction. It's missing the memorization and second shaving aspect of track racing and it's missing the frantic fun courses of rally. I just don't drive enough to remember the tracks and they have so many stupid corners and blind bumps and jumps. I can't stare at the minimap and don't want to enable the racing line because the video game part of my brain would just make me follow it and that would be exactly zero fun. I feel like they could've prioritized quality over quantity when making the race events. The only one that stands out in my mind is the long one around the map. Everything else is just the same shit in one of the 4 enviroments.

This is simracing, not casual driving games. Assetto Corsa focus around closed racing tracks is an entirely different genre than lets say Test Drive Unlimited.

The Formula Trucks are pretty fun, though understandably their braking is not so good. I'm sort of still in the idea of either Touring Cars or UK Bangers. Leaning towards bangers even though graphically they're not great because they're a series begging for some good old smashing fun.

They're not bad since they have good braking, good stability and are an extremely easy car to drive. It's probably the easiest type of car to drive outside of picking something like Rotax or any other

H1 has been delisted last month, so while hard copies should still work you won't be able to purchase anything on the xbox store. And since the in game marketplace has been broken for like 2 months, no in game purchases either.

rFactor 2 is the best and the only reason you'd be taking rF1 or AMS (which is rF1 with SweetFX, some BR tracks and cars) is if your computer was such a turd it cannot run rF2.

I made my decision on Saturday, and we will be holding an exhibition race on rFactor 1 using the FIA European Superkarts mod mainly because it's a pretty easy set of cars to run while still being fun and it's something I wanted to do for a year now. Funny thing is that you can pull off drift wins in Horizon 3 because they fucked up the performance index and power upgrades do fuck all to raise your car class. You can make 1000+ horsepower monsters in B class by simply not buying better tires. You can go into road races and drift around corners having fun while the AI stay neatly behind you, assuming you don't get that one rogue AI that blasts ahead of everyone else.

I have a Subaru BRAT with 443 kilowatts and it only weighs 794 kilograms, converted to freedom units, that's 594 horsepower and 1728 pounds.
It's in C class because I didn't touch the tires, if I do it jumps straight into S1.
I like driving around the Maroondah Reservoir because high speed drifts and shit.

Speaking of incompetence, Horizon 3 somehow runs better on high than on low for me. I tried switching to dynamic high after wondering just how much worse it would be since I already get huge framerate drops and stutter on low.

I only get moderate stutter and minor framerate drops on high dynamic and it looks miles better. What the shit, Playground Games?

How do I adjust the clutch biting point on Rfactor? I want to raise it a little

Perhaps high puts a little less strain on the CPU and more on the GPU so it's more balanced.
Also, X1 runs at mixed medium/high settings so perhaps those are somewhat optimized but the game doesn't scale down very well.

Runs at locked high on Xbone with 4xMSAA and additional TAA in some areas. 30FPS makes it easier, but PG are fucking wizards on fixed hardware. The PC port does need work though

Apex runs well now though I'd imagine the floor will go up since FM7 is likely going to target Scorpio first, though. So I'd probably be interested to see what goes on there (I'd call it now that the xbone version of FM7 gets knocked back to 900P to do Dynamic Weather and TOD)

Seeing how Apex runs the most likely explanation is that the whole streaming bit doesn't port well to PC. That, or whatever PG did to the engine completely fucked the PC version.

Did you try out these karts by any chance? They're much more exciting than you would think at first glance. I would argue that they're as fast if not faster than the FIA GT3 cars given the right tracks and the track is a tricky technical track perfect for these cars.

Went back and Played Horizon 1 and Forza 4, they surprisingly hold up really well visually. Though holy shit the physics on both games seem so much more simplified now. I don't even know if I can count Forza 4 as a light sim anymore, it just feels straight up arcade. Horizon 1 is borderline unplayable for me now.

Yeah, I've been playing H1 recently and the graphics are still OK, with the sorta charming 2012 aesthetic akin to Dirt 2. Biggest drops are the rendering resolution and the car models, both very noticeable on the close shots on the front of the car you get when starting races.

But on the gameplay side, H1 is actually very, very fun to play. Skidding around in any RWD car feels very, very good and it's overall very responsive. Perhaps not realistic indeed, but it doesn't matter to me.

I used WinCDEmu to convert my PS2 copy Of R&C :SM to .iso form. It booted up just fine when I did, all it being libre and minimalist really appeals to me. Most likely that is the case, however in the past playing a audio cd before hand used to make it work fine most of the time, a in depth disk clean with a cloth and or putting the disk in the wrong way for a little bit.Now not so much, not that I really care, seeing as I use my PC more and prefer it.

By the looks of it the wheel has a generic usb and a ps4 mode and it figured the generic usb is the right one and disabled the other (which windows detected as a device disappearing/disconnecting)

For real, min 720 for street cars, 540 for racecars in general, and 360 max for open wheel.

And make sure stability control is off.

I also tend to use factory ABS and TC, so if the car has it, so be it. It feels more natural with older cars too.
