Well-written VNs

Bonus points for not being about:
Those are still fine to post in the thread, I just also want to see some that don't fall into those categories since the only well written VNs I know of are limited to those, pics related. I'd really like to see a VN about something like transhumanism or being a part of a crime syndicate since they'd be a pretty interesting medium for that stuff.

Also extreme mega bonus points for no kawaii anime bullshit (not the art style, just people that talk and act like real humans like in most older anime or Ghibli movies). Ace Attorney doesn't really count here but 999 does to some extent.

What the fuck.

What the fuck? You do realize one of the most common complaints people have with 999 is how nonsensically the characters act, right?

>escaping the room
Hasn't been done yet, I'm still waiting.

They act strangely but I was more referring to over the top expressions like you see in Danganronpa or Ace Attorney.

999 had so much potential but it turned out to be the same anime trash as every other VN

Steins;Gate.
Sengoku no Rance. Ok, well it might be an h-game but apparently its got a lot game which lots of other VN's lack.

it's sengoku rance, retard

Is this a VN or a point and click adventure?

Bruh, the writers admitted the ending made no sense.

Fate/Stay Night is good if you exclude the sex scenes

Well it had the best writing of the limited number of VNs I played other than AA.

Is the Steins;Gate anime better than the VN or vice versa? I was told that the anime was better since it was more condensed.

What makes it good?

That's what this thread is for, give me VNs with better writing than 999.

999 is pure illogical gooktrash.

The Prophet nwn module series is the only videogame story where time travelling was actually handled good with no logical/paradox errors.

Ok then give me VNs with better writing than 999 other than Ace Attorney and other ones listed in this thread.

Lots of different reasons, but I mostly enjoy it for the aspect of historical/mythological figures clashing in a modern setting. It's pretty action packed.

There's three routes, but you only unlock options to see the other routes on subsequent playthroughs. Each route is darker than the last. It gets pretty brutal.

VNs are gook trash.

OMGWTFOTL and Kana Little Sister have better writing than 999.

Not the surface elements, I mean what makes the writing good. Is it humorous? Does it make you feel sad? Does it have interesting villains? Does it present thoughtful ideas and concepts?

What next? Well written jrpgs?

The first thing to understand about Fate/Stay Night, and anything written by Nasu, is that pretty much nothing receives official translations or dubbing. The entire basis to the English-speaking Type-Moon fandom is a bunch of weebs slowly translating shit for other weebs to read, and many of these translations are shit. In a way it's a necessity - if they were perfect, they would take even longer to put out. As a result of this, a great deal is lost in translation. So how is the writing itself? It's no Lovecraft.

So what of the story itself? Well there's generally quite a few plot holes and other issues floating around, things left unanswered, and so forth. The characters as a general rule are fairly likeable save when they're not supposed to be. The protagonist comes across as a dumbass, though as you progress through the story, you start to discover that there's a lot more to it than that.

Some people write fucking essays online about this shit, so I suppose there's that. F/SN is actually one of the weaker works by Nasu, though. Tsukihime is much better in every way besides production value, and stuff like Kara No Kyoukai is extremely good.

Sometimes, but this is mostly in Hollow Ataraxia, the sequel.
Depends on the kind of person you are, in certain routes.
The most frequently occurring antagonist in the story is one of the most interesting I have seen in any work of fiction, so there's that. Others not so much.
The central theme to all three routes in F/SN is heroism, what it means, different views, etc.

Steins;Gate Zero is even better than the first.

Make sure to clear every route before gunning for the true ending. Some of the best shit is in the side routes.

this is out already?

by out I mean translated and localized of course

my nigga

it's both, since the prologue and epilogue are pure VN

ye

really? it says later this month for EU/NA on wiki

no
but you believed my lies
and now you will never be able to trust any anonymous poster again

What do you guys think of the remake?

review copy

Did they cut anything? The art looks pretty bad from what I've seen.

This isnt about dating waifus at all.
cause you date guys
But in all seriousness, I did like this one a lot since each character's story arc took place across different realities so it was a new story each time. It felt like it made it more fun to play through than just skipping over already read text, or puzzles. I mean, it does get anime and over the top with how characters are designed, but these come from Japan, what do you expect?

FUCKING MANIAC

What are some more games that are a combination of VN and point-n-click adventure like Ace Attorney, by the way?

Any hope for an English PC release of that or is it NEVER EVER status?

I vastly preferred the Steins; Gate VN to the anime.
I played it before I watched it so keep that in mind.

The VN is slow. VERY VERY slow.
The plot doesn't even really kick in until chapter 4. The buildup and getting to know characters is crucial to experiencing it though so when the plot actually happens you're very emotionally invested.

I'll shamelessly admit that I sobbed on multiple occasions.
All of the endings are really good as well.
There is a guide which is without spoilers but lets you experience all of the endings in a single playthrough.
Here it is: archive.is/0Nba3

The anime, while pretty good in its own right, doesn't have anywhere near the emotional impact and of couzrse lacks the alternate endings.

It comes highly recommended but be wary that the game is approximately 20-30 hours long, depending on whether or not you get all the endings.

I'm sure there is a fan translation already and an official English release was already announced for early 2017.
I can't wait. Not only the user in this thread but others have claimed Zero is even better so I'm quite excited.

The well-written VNs are called books, you pansy ass faggot.

Checkmate.

I do hope people on here read normal books also and not just VNs.

Where the fuck is S;G 0 PC announced for Early 2017? S;G 0 Vita/PS4 is obviously coming this month (though I've already played it), but where is the news that S;G 0 PC is coming?

Must've misremembered something. I could swear that was announced but I can't find any proof of that right now.
My bad user.

It's no problem.

Make sure you play all the routes in S;G 0. Although only 2 are necessary for the True End, every route has significant story content that answers questions from the first VN and gives character development.

I hope by the time I play it it'll have a handy guide like the one i posted here available.

Reading Steiner already has one on his twitter.

Have you no link? I'm not up for browsing through his whole twitter history.
On a side note, has Occultic;Nine anything to do with Steins;Gate?
The logo is very similar and the OP is by the same artist as the SG one.

Can I play SG Zero if I only watched the original anime?

Probably, but read the original VN anyway.

How broadly are you defining VNs?

*raises paw*
E-ever 17 is good…

Well, Saya no Uta is rather unforgettable.

They cut out all the porn because it's being released on console, but that's it as far as I know. I think it'll be shit if only because the art style looks like ass, but we'll see.

I actually have that, I need to get around to playing it.

Is The Devil on G-string any good?

No.
The final chapter leaves plot holes. Because it wanted a tweest.

You're welcome.

Most of the game is a point and click adventure whit none of the benefits that a point and click has above a VN

Starless.

great doubles, Mark!

Umineko is really good for the fist part Then they fuck up everything in the second part by

It's actually a boy!
Also the novel stops being about Ace Attorney-esque murder mystery mind games and starts being about meta-fictional fuckery which was also present to an extent in the first part but not so much with beating the shit out of each other with literal fucking arguments. And Jesus fucking Christ, the main character seems like he's going to go through a change in personality that will prove that he is more intelligent than he looks, but fuck he never actually does. I liked the twist after the seventh episode though

Not sure where you'd classify it, but D4: Dark Dreams Don't Die, is a great, but unfinished, game.

As far as other games go:

Then onto the more generic ones:

This all mostly all subjective, since asking for a VN is about the same as asking for a book. Just because something is in a similar genre there are plenty of things that can make you like or dislike something. The only real way to figure out what you do and don't like is to try it.

...

UBW and HF sure Fate is a fucking uninteresting drag and you're forced to go through it. At least Tsukihime had two routes to go through at the start. Not to say both are better than FSN since Arc's route is a chore too.

...

OP is specifically looking for ones that don't involve dating, that's why Everlasting Summer is in there. I will agree that YU-NO doesn't really belong grouped with One though, my bad there.

I mean I understand why that would seem odd

But completely ruined? It was a good game regardless and the ending isn't that hard to understand.

The problem is that even though multiple people remembers June dying in the first nonary game, she's somehow alive and able to set up the second one. Now maybe that's because her life had been saved by sending that sudoku puzzle back in time, but if that were true then people would remember that she solved the puzzle and escaped, and they would have no memory of her dying.
I like the game overall but the ending was dumb. I also felt that June being Zero was pretty out of character for her. Even if she was trying to save her own life, she doesn't seem like the sort of person who would kidnap loads people and cause several deaths. It would have made more sense if Santa was Zero and was doing that stuff to save his sister.

You missed the point. Everyone remembers that she survived, they have to act like she dies to get Junpei to save her by completing the time loop.

Just like this guy said

6 out of the 9 were acting through the whole game

Is ES good?
I'm sceptical of the idea of Russian visual novels.

It's really good. It's free too.

But it's not Japanese but trying to be, like weeabo shit from DA, it's a flag for me. I know it has Miku how is her route?

Wait, really? How were we supposed to realise that? There was never any indication from most of them that they were in on it, except maybe when they talked about weird shit like glycerin and cleaning chemicals.

After the latest translation fix which, fixed a lot of the Russian sentence formatting mistakes and wrong words, the game is now perfectly read-able.
As for the game being Russian and trying to be Japanese, luckily it's not. Pretty much everything in the game is very much Russian and it's not one of those, "We're in an American highschool, but everyone has Japanese names for some reason."

Miku's route is one of the better ones actually. In her route they filming a movie and she's actually a Russian chick pretending to be Miku, then some shit happens.

Really fucking weird. Keep in mind that ES isn't really a typical romance VN, it's more of a psychological/mystery type VN.

Did you actually play the game user?

Hmm okay then, I'll give it a go.

I'll check these out, thanks!

I get that same feeling from a lot of stuff. It's why I wish more wetstern VNs did like Unteralterbach and tried to be their own thing instead of just emulating the Japanese style.

Of course. Did I miss something obvious? I mean, I know they all have links to the first nonary game, but for everyone except June and Santa there's nothing to suggest they they were involved with acting out the second.

This is correct.
and are making assumptions for no particular reasons.

Seven faked it too. Same with Clover and Snake.

But that's just an asspull to explain the ending. It's not based on anything that was shown ingame.

It's not an asspull, though. They had to pretend they didn't know what was going on. Also, Clover didn't know what was happening because she wasn't with June or Snake in the first game.

I haven't read a book in 8 years, i've only read a few dozen VNs in the last couple of years.

god, save my soul

I used to read a shitton of books in middle school, but then I just… stopped? Right around the time I got my own computer, really…

Oh.

Right, and I'm saying that the game doesn't tell you that or even hint at it at any point, and that it's something that's just made up because the ending doesn't make sense without it. Even if it's true, it's not set up in any way, and is therefore an asspull.

Exactly where does it say they were all in on it? I don't remember that and poking through the wiki I can't find anything to suggest it either

It's not in the game anywhere. As far as I can tell it's just something readers have made up, like when people make shit up to explain plot holes in movies.

Seven, Snake, June, Clover were in on it. Ace and Nine weren't.

Junpei wasn't, because that was the whole point. I don't think Lotus was either, honestly I don't know why Lotus was part of the game…?

So, at least half the cast was in on it.

I don't remember where, but I know for a fact that Seven is in on it. Snake was in on it because he was there with Santa, Seven, and June.

That doesn't answer my question. Where does it say that? Where is that even implied?

call me a fucking pleb, casual, no-taste, vanilla, faggot or whatever. yume miru kusuri was a fucking rollercoaster and i loved every minute. the music alone in that vn does wonders for setting the tone and story and really sets it up for a great story you will remember for years.

then again, i dont really watch animu and hardly play vns, that was my first.

here are some great games on the DS that were overlooked:
Miami Law - great, often overlooked thriller. some smallish leaps of logic in the plot. two dudes investigate a drug ring which blows up into a fuckhueg plot. conspiracies, patriotism and buddy cop action abound. the OST has a couple of tight tracks but otherwise not bad. graphics kick ass. there are mini-games interspersed which are sorta fun.
time hollow - great plot. highly reccomend this one. play as a teenager who has to unfuck everything with his powers. will tug ever-so-gently at your heart-strings.
Jake Hunter - Memories of the Past - GET THIS GAME. OST is sort of ass, graphics are rudimental, but the stories are very engaging and fun. the characters are incredibly likable, the stories are often touching.

hmm, i can't answer your question. however, the writer for 999 actually did an interview where he answered fan questions. it was up on the official 999 english site. this was back in 2010 or whenever that was released though, so it might not be there.

anyway you might find answers there

Okay, I tried typing this earlier with spoilers, but since the fucking Everychan app doesn't tell you when your DNS runs out the entire post was lost to the aether and I'm not going through the trouble of spoilering shit again. It's already a pain in the ass typing long posts on a phone without worrying about properly tagging shit like that. Consider everything from this moment on to be a spoiler for Zero Time Dilemma.

——————-SPOILERS——————–

1) The last choice in the game is a supposedly tough ethical choice because by switching consciousnesses with the survivors you'd be condemning them to death. This is fucking hypocritical. Almost every switcher on the team has fucking murdered an alternate self by doing this exact thing. Junpei's ENTIRE FUCKING PLAN is predicated on leaving his and Carlos's alternate selves to die riddled with bullet wounds, and Carlos himself possibly condemns an alternate version of himself to death in an alternate reality. Sigma is only here specifically because he's forced his younger self into another fucking death game. Further, if the consciousnesses actually switch and aren't just implanted, what's to stop the other selves from just switching right back? While we're at it, why didn't Junpei and Akane, who are already aware they have the ability, just switch every time they face death? Like…I don't know, the fucking casino death trap? Why is everyone a fucking moron intermittently?

2) At the end of the game, Diana and Sigma are in love. Great. Except this isn't Sigma. It's his future self. When he switches back, Diana's going to be facing the lovably immature skirt-chaser from VLR, not the stoic old man she fell for. That is, if he switches back at all. Does he plan on just taking control of this body forever? What are young Sigma and Diana going to do then?

3) Phi's here in this timeline because she was transported from the past. Fine. But the game explicitly tells us the machine copies, not transports. So where the fuck is Old Phi? Did she die of old age? Then why the hell is Delta still alive?

4) While we're at it, why does no one ever mention Delta's existence? Why does no one question a team with 4 members? Why is Delta not on the team portrait in the study? While we're at it, how do they cart his decrepit ass up those fucking stairs when they shoot the safe with the grenade launcher? And in that note, when Cuntface shoots the launcher during the Mexican standoff in MUCH closer quarters, how does everyone not die? Plus, do Cuntface and Murdercunt just leave Delta to die in that timeline? While we're at it, if Delta is there, why are they in a standoff at all. The choice of who to kill is fucking OBVIOUS. Why does everyone act surprised when you shoot him?

hey faggot, just type ** on either side of your text to spoiler it

So it's one of those "Hermione is actually black" situations.

It doesn't make sense for Clover to be in on it. She wouldn't have gone ax crazy if she was in on it.

Miami Law and Time Hollow were the first two games I played when I got my DS flashcart. Both bretty good. I like that the latter has an NG+ where you follow your cat and end up thwarting the whole plot before it starts.

Can you link me to that 'theory'/etc?

Steins;gate is the best VN ever.

I think it's on Twitter. The author of Harry Potter said something to akin to "I never said Hermione's race in the books so she could be black." in response to a stage play of Harry Potter having a black actress play Hermione.

The story of a man who kills and eats his arch-nemesis, kills his neighbour's dog, then has a friendly chat with a friend of his over erotic fiction.

If that's what she actually said then I guess this 999 thing is more akin to when Rowling said Dumbledore was gay.
Really the point is authors can't change what happens in their writing just by opening their mouths. She could say the whole story actually took place in comatose astronaut's dream or any other absurd thing but there's no reason to accept that without some foundation within the text itself.

Yep, that's what I've been trying to say.
If it's not in the work, it's not part of the story.

its been on steam for about a year.

I recommend a fan translation though. I had one that turned the character into meme lords and it fit the same context as in Japanese.

Mind recommending some books? I havent read in years

What? Steins;Gate 0 doesn't have an english PC release, or a fan-translation. Also, if you're thinking of the original Steins;Gate, the "official" translation is just the fan-translation with extra polish.

Steins;Gate 0's translation is in-house but the translator for the first Steins;Gate approves of it.

If you want to be a weeb there's a shit ton of light novels out there. Personally I recommend the Mushoku Tensei books. It's the book that, I believe, started the new anime/manga/book trend in Japan about someone reincarnating in a different world. It's completely translated, but the last few volumes are only MTL'ed so you'll need to put up with some pretty awful sentence structures.

Though it would help if you gave some sort of idea of what you like.

Thanks! I like a wide variety of things but mystery or abstract things would be nice s-sorry I suck at describing things

el classico tier:

I can't get enough dystopian/sci-fi tier:

If whodunits count then I'd recommend "Ten Little Niggers" (no it's not really a Holla Forums-approved book that's just the title).

Umineko: AKA "One of the Singular Greatest Wastes of Potential Known to Man"

First three parts were great. Then it got retarded.
Then it got very, VERY bad.
Then the fifth chapter came out and…all unto the eighth

sorry didn't know we were talking about zero.

Anyway, the Steam version of Steins;Gate is alright, but the JAST version is the best PC version.

I played the UK Vita release myself.

Could somebody recommend me a generic romance like Clannad? I don't read VNs very often, but I've been craving one recently.

Kanon is like Clannad but better.

...

Isn't Kanon the one where the guy fails to keep his promises, commits bestiality, and leaves his childhood friend to die in the cold?

...

I think you are confused user.

I'm uploading a shit ton of books for you, they're mostly just light novels, but there are some real ones in there too.

I can agree with this. Also there's lewds. Sayuri is best girl.

Aside from that we have:

And for one's that are a bit less emotional and a bit more lewd:
>Maman Kyoushitsu You will be boning pregnant women and potentially family members in this.

It's also the VN that spawned an anime so horrendously drawn they needed to remake it.

but isn't she gay?

Thank you for the recommendations.

999 is shit. It's shit and I regret wasting my time getting the true ending.

It's been awhile, but at best it's only hinted at that she might have romantic feelings for Mai. It's more that she doesn't really see herself as a person that deserves any happiness and doesn't harbor romantic feelings in general.

Then is this just a fantasy or something? I never got this ending.

mega.nz/#!tZIGlLqR!6kEGwNhwTw9OQDOaAAk_rs2GkYWIHmt54Z9IIjo4YGk

It's been awhile and I don't remember that. It's completely possible that's just a dreamed up scene because almost all the scenes have actual backgrounds.

...

I'mma try some of these novels out too. thanks man, i hope they're good!

Thank you both and sorry for the late response

Explain how

Ah my bad. I thought you were copying text from the OP

Also I really loved D4 do you know if the SWERY will finish it?

I think that was because one of the author's friends committed suicide during the same timeframe and that screwed him up for a while.

I'm downloading Swan Song. What am I in for?

Rape.

I read the VN twice, watched all endings and I still don't get this picture.

...

...

...

meat vision

...

water closet is scat fetish garbage, and KS is just hot garbage.

Defnitiely seconding Snatcher, it's great. Though it's not a VN, it's more of an edventure game.
I haven't played Policenauts yet but

Of the ones from this list that I've played, I liked them all, so I'm guessing the others are mostly fine too. But I wouldn't exactly call them well written, most of them are nukige.

...

...

I loved Time Hollow, just like its spiritual predecessor, Shadow of Destiny/Memories. Jake Hunter is still on my backlog, and I never heard of Miami Law. Thanks for the recs, user - definitely going to try these out.

...

It's definitely more condensed, but it misses out on a couple of things namely Mr. Brauns daughters time fuckery and there's some fuckery with the IBN computer in one of the later episodes, I think they use it to hack SERNs email database when it should have already been stolen or something like that. I can't remember exactly.

I don't think it's possible for any translated work, regardless of media, to be of a high enough quality that a second hand reader could determine that the original was well written.

With that being said, there's a few VNs with decent story and/or decent characters.

Clannad, ef, Saya no Uta and Symphonic Rain would be the top contenders. Almost everything else either falls flat on its face because of dumb twists or power of friendship bullshit or the story is horrible or the characters are so poorly written that it makes the VN unreadable.

...

I downloaded Everlasting Summer from steam, but every time I try to run the game it crashes after a few seconds without starting. I already tried verifying files and reinstalling, running as admin, and running in compatability mode. How do I fix this shit?

Try a pirated version.

can I get a link?

Did you try turning it off and on again?
No seriously, I've had that problem with multiple games and rebooting fixed it.

Goddamn it, that worked.

Never before have I been so angry at something working.

Is it possible for a vn to be apart of an arg?

what's the point

I really liked Ancillary Justice, though I doubt many people will agree on that considering it's a sci-fi book whose main race of people speak a language that doesn't have gender pronouns so everything is she when dealing with that race. I can imagine that triggering most people here pretty fucking hard before they get to actually interesting bits of the book that handle what it is like being an artificial intelligence like I've never seen before and the political power struggle that's happening in the book's universe.

I think The Last Full Measure: How Soldiers Die in Battle is also pretty good. It's more of a curiosity than a fun and exciting book though. Generatio Kill is also fun if you like military things.

Why not? Literally anything can be an ARG if you try hard enough.

SWERY is taking a break from making games due to an illness. So now he just posts pictures of himself going on vacation on Twitter.

Is Kara no Shoujo any good?

does Holla Forums like /u/?

It's very good, my favorite VN series of all time.

I started going through one of the Kiss for the Petals VNs thinking it was just going to be cute girls holding hands and out of nowhere fucking watersports.
Lesbians are degenerates

Playing it right now and I'm completely hooked

How can you say you love her if you can't even drink her piss?

the ones in my post are pure and clean
FLOWERS doesnt even have nudity

The best VN I've ever played is MGQ by totoro resistance. Nothng else has ever come close. I don't understand how no one has mentioned it yet.

The Mythology Symbolism has a purpose besides just adding background flavor, especially the religious (or Judeo-Christian if you're a prententious hipster) The character development of the MC is spot-on. There are no plot-holes unless you have poor memory or reading comprehension. The theme may come off a little preachy and SJW-esque if you live in Holla Forums, but I loved it.

The femdom monstergirl porn is p good too, but it's not my fetish so eh.

user, I've got some bad news…
SWERY quit games and D4 is on permanent hiatus (aka never ever).

I've just been up for 40 hours straight reading Steins Gate. Why didn't anybody warn me? I've never went so long without sleeping and eating in my life. last time this ever happened to me was when I first played Warcraft 3.

Damnit I had high hopes for it. Also I just realized I wrote "the SWERY" I meant to write the developer and swapped it with his name sorry

Me too, but it was fucked right from the start being released on the Xbone, being a motion control game, and the PC version not getting a port for a good while afterwards.

>has more brutal hidden (i.e. off-screen crucial events) flags and triggers than any of the detective parts presented

I'll check them out. Thanks!

True. After getting two different bad endings I looked up a walkthrough and some of the steps and conditions are mighty bullshit, like "go to this specific place there's no logical reason to go to because fundamental scripted event"

...

But user, The Room already has a game. And it's pretty great too.

It's weird that only Yu-No got its art style significantly changed when it comes to PC-98 remakes. Eve and Desire look much closer to their originals.

I used to think waifus were just some dumb meme like penis inspection day. Maybe I was just too old and no "in" enough to get the joke. And then I read Kara no Shoujo and pic related showed up. I'm not saying "she's my waifu" or anything like that, but now I can understand the concept.

Why did she have to die? I teared up a little when it happened

I recently read this and have been meaning to get into Liar-Soft's other games in the series. I've also been reading Demonbane, which has some truly awful sex scenes but nice combat scenes.

I have a soft spot for chuunige.

NORMALFAGS

...

The sequel isn't as harsh.

Ourai no Gahkthun -What a shining braves- since we are talking about VNs anyone play this one?

I used to think they were a meme too, but then I realized what it really was and I became even more horrified

Say that to my face, Nrvnqsr.

Did MT start that? I thought it was popular beforehand, it's just that MT was so autistic in describing the world and mechanics that people loved it. I stopped reading around Volume 21 and I have no desire to finish it.

If you want a mystery/abstract LN, HakoMari is great. It's not a detective mystery, though.

I can smell your fear, Anita.

Mushoku Tensei looks sounds cool. Is the manga any good compared to the novels?

What's a really good stress-inducing suspenseful VN like Steins;Gate?

higurashi

Go for Umineko no Naku Koro Ni, it is good.
Same Author as

but that might be rather long/etc.

I don't mind length if it's good. I'm downloading them right now. It might take a while as I'm downloading other stuff and I have a download speed of 150 kb/s. At least it's faster than dial-up.

I honestly couldn't stand Demonbane, I was really expecting a story very similar to the ones by HP Lovecraft, with the same sense of dread and hopelessness. It was way too goofy for me. It did have some nice music though.

...

What's worse is that I had dial-up till 2010.

It's definitely not what I'd expect from it, it feels like a semi-tongue in cheek mecha anime. I like that about it though, even if it wasn't really what I thought it would be.

Demonbane is a really weird combo.

Its a super robot mecha vn, with a certain amount of the 'hotblooded determination can trump all, never give up' attitude that typically goes with that, which wrestles with the lovecraftian elements, which would normally be taking the story the complete opposite direction, tonally.

Does the English release come with a download code for the HD version of the original like the Japanese versions do?

Where the fuck do I go to download a visual novel, I want to read Aiyoku no Eustia, Irotoridori no Sekai, or Princess Evangile

If anyone can reccommend some english translated VNs with DL links that would be much appreciated also

Also in terms of VNs I enjoyed beyond the obvious popular ones there's Shinigami No Kiss blah balh blah very long name. Pretty generic routes besides the loli which was really good.
kohaku.kouhi.me/
Hoshizora No Memoria is good too albeit very long, haven't played through all the routes yet, but the spirit stuff is kinda confusing to be quite honest, and your sister is an annoying bitch that you will have to mute your headphones with.

Persons? Shouldn't it be people?

Erogedownload maybe? Their download scheme is terrible though.

Heres a Fuwanovel archive for anyone interested.

I can't say it's really written, but my current guilty pleasure is ACE Academy which is basically about an American going to a Japanese university to pilot mechs. It's fully voiced and complete now. And the writing is slightly changed based on what type of character you play like athletic, intelligent or intuitive There's no sex, I think. I was playing it for the sake of satisfying my need for school or academy settings in Japan.

It's on Steam and easy to pirate too.

nyaa.se or sukebai.nyaa.se?

I'm ususally able to find stuff on nyaa, or if that fails shitty sites like erogedownload.
mofumoe.org/ also has a lot of stuff.

I don't think it's a shining example of writing but I had fun reading it, even if it was full of references.

Excuse me, bestgirl totally told you how to have sex. Y'see, it's like building a computer…

Waifus are old as time, user. It's the platonic ideal versus real people. Greek and Roman goddesses? Waifus. Helen of Troy? Waifu. Etc.

To the user that uploaded all those books: Thanks! There's some good stuff in there. Hyouka is pretty nice, Gekkou is a fantastic novella. And there's normal shit like a Dazai book. I'd recommend reading Kokoro Connect if you want an interesting twist on high school drama.

Link?

I don't have PDFs saved, and I don't have a magnet link, sorry. Kokoro Connect is on Baka-Tsuki though, since there's no official English translation for sale. baka-tsuki.org/project/?title=Kokoro_Connect

Unless you meant a link to all those other books I mentioned, which would be here:

Well that was fucking depressing. I thought that the true ending would be a happy one. When I saw Toko limbless again I wanted to ragequit so much. KnS2 isn't a direct sequel right? I can't figure how they would continue the story. I guess that Toko may be alive since she supposedly smiled at the boy who received the egg in the train unless that was his imagination.

Also pic related best girl

I am going to marry Sei!

...

KnS2 is a direct sequel. You might also want to play Cartagra first.

FIND ME REIJI

Does Flowers have a proper translation? I heard there were some problems.

How are the Dangonrampa VNs?

Fun. Despair. Your waifu is going to die. More of a mix of DRPG gameplay and VN levels of text.

I'm not slogging through Kara no shoujo 2 after 1, spoil me on Toko. Is 2 a shitty cliffhanger as well?

What the fuck is a DRPG?

Dungeon RPGs, aka Wizardy clones like Etrian Odyssey or Stranger of Sword City.

I just hope that it isn't some fucked up shit like Reiji trying to "bring back" Toko in a way similar to how Kusaka and Shinji tried to bring back their waifus

I still recommend it. It's not nearly as unforgiving as the first game, if that's what you're worried about. But if you still want to have the ending spoiled.. You find her.

I find it enjoyable. Although, I do struggle with it due to several things hitting too close to home. I didn't want to start contemplating my life and feeling down over the fact that I never got to go to fish with my father.

Time to blow this joint: Western VNs
You might remember this from whatever thread the author used to share the demo, and the current /a/ thread. Got released November 1st I think. At least try the demo, you'll see for yourself.
Short, no choice VN; more akin to a short story. Get your conservatively dressed demon waifu here. I personally loved this one.
sicpvn.sdf.org/index.html
Holla Forumsnocrat discovers that his purpose in life is to teach weebs the way of the programmer. I hope he is still alive, seems like somewhat of a never-ever case.

If anyone cares for text adventures/CYOA Pax Demonica is a pretty nice ride with full magical realm bad ends. May or may not esoterically interfere with your meatspace and loved ones, according to some paranoid user who lived in a shitty place.
Copy+Paste the demonic text for extra fun.

I'm retarded
levity.itch.io/azurea-juncture
dischan.co/downloads/

I read some of that and nothing bad has happened around me, I feel ripped off and kinda horny.

This is a pain that we share together.

Í see.

I used to know that awful pain.
Now I have decently fast internet and would never return.

Why the fuck does that Chinese fingerpainting make more fucking sense when reading from left to right?

sukebEi.nyaa.se

Also, I can’t remember the name of a VN I played some years ago. It had a high school setting and a qt was getting bullied relentlessly by some of the other girls. Depending on your choices she could either commit suicide by jumping from the school roof, or fight back and attack the ring leader. I recall a scene where she nearly killed the HBIC. Anyone know what VN I’m talking about?

You mean Yume Miru Kusuri?
youtu.be/UCkOCPo-xco?t=1m47s

Yeah - that’s the one.
Cheers, mate.

I couldn’t save her the first time ;_;

Neither did I because Mizuki is better.

...

That's rare. Most people don't seem to like her.

That’s where you’re wrong.

Kana Little Sister is there, look at the top row.

I want to pat Asagi's Head!
Okay, it's not well written, but my boner and heart don't care.

Game?

boku no pico

A game full of love.

he's going to kill everyone in a fit of beta rage isn't he?

That looks like fun.
I'll admit though, I was mad when I learned at least for the last one that got translated, you play as some faceless dude instead of Asagi.

Hadaka Shitsuji every time. It gets the bonus points, right? No murder mysteries, no escaping the room nonsense. Plus, you don't date the husbandos, you rape them

The writing is okay.

bump

>see a guy getting vegetables shoved up his ass
>another guy being fucked inside a box
So this is the gay version of Euphoria, right?

I liked and truly loath 999. I liked the game up until the true ending where I saw June's true colors. All the shit she put Junpei through and she's still supposed to be someone the players sympathize with? Fuck the timeloop, I turned the game off at the sudoku puzzle and deleted the .nds file.

>see a girl getting fucked and drowned underwater
>another two girls having each other's shit fed to them through tubes
Well, there's a scene where you're straight up drowning a guy since you slowly force him to develop a strangulation fetish throughout the route. No shit scenes though. Only similar fetishes are piss in one scene on a route, and a diaper on another scene, different route. Both of these are thankfully short and aren't too drastic. You can also be nice to the butlers if you want, but only if you're a fucking faggot that wants the game to make fun of you outside of the "light" endings.

You got a DL link? I might fap to this later, the only game I've played similar to this is one called "Absolute Obedience"

I might just extract all of the images without even playing the game, honestly

I'm fucking crying with laughter.

I know I keep responding, but you wanna know the worst part?
I've read spanish stories on mexicans who've actually done shit like this
Of course, a lot of these have had to do with underage gay sex slave rings by the cartel
they would force young boys to be addicted to drugs, then to get their dose of said drugs, they had do to shit that would put the most hardcore fetishist into a mental hospital

Spics are fucked up.

>light endings
What's the difference between those and the other endings? Are they less degenerate than the rest or something?

mofumoe.org/content/hadaka-shitsuji
Here's that degeneracy you ordered.

This is gonna be so fucking hot

Didn't that one guy in the front die?

Yes.
Iwata

With nearly all VNs, there's a true ending to each route, with maybe a normal ending and a bad ending. However, this game is different in that it considers all other endings bad, even if nothing bad actually happened. The "light" endings are a name people have used for bad endings that are the endings for each route where you don't torture them and instead end up getting together romantically. It makes sense why the game still labels these as bad endings since it wants you to be a bad person, and even moreso after playing the True Route. Yes it also has a True Route, though I'd recommend doing that only after going through the true endings for all routes.

God fucking damn, user, that sounds pretty fucking hot in my head. Probably much less so if I were to witness it

In fantasy. Everything is hot
When you start seeing it and hearing real world experiences, your lusty boner sinks right into the fucking mariana trench.
There was this one guy who was about 14, was forced to get fucked by three old fat beaners.
One of them was pozzed apparently
Another guy, 19, had sex with a horse
he didn't survive
Third guy, this one gets me super uncomfortable
He had sex with his brother, He didn't get his drugs in time and tore off his penis, along with eating a good chunk off his brothers face

There was way more, unrelated, but one guy was eaten by a lion, simply for amusement
After reading these, I noticed that racism was Justified

It's not cute guys doing cute things, It's teenagers being passed around like human garbage then disposed off when not needed. Pic related.

Shit nigga, the tail end of this thread looks like a goddamn SCP article.

where is this screencap from?

Why, japan, why do you have to make retarded sci-fi ?

Jesus christ.
And I thought my fetishes were sick.

should have played 999 then, not virtue

Yeah, same thing, I forget.

Some forum for meth heads.

The most consistent thing I can say about… Look, do you play pen and paper games at all?

If you do, then Tsukihime is like a good game of Vampire the Masquerade, while Fate is like a bunch of college kids without anything better to do playing Exalted while a beleagured storyteller tries his damndest to keep up.

I mean, when you have Female King Arthur shooting at The Hulk's Love Letter To Hercules while Batman+Captain Planet schemes to assassinate his younger self, you're mostly in it for the crazy fucking bullshit action, not for anything of cerebral substance.

...

It's well-written enough for my dick

God that was good. Are there any VNs that are nearly as Japanese?

I still liked it until the last game.

Do you REALLY wanna know?

I'm pretty desensitized to this kind of shit, so I haven't really batted an eye at anything you mentioned. With the lion and brother-eating as exceptions, it all really doesn't sound too bad in my head. You telling me of more horrific things really just gets the same reply, sounds pretty hot. You're talking to someone who got his kicks from /ft/ back in its glory days before the board was wiped and BO was arrested.
Also whether the stories on that forum are true or not, and I highly doubt they are, those people are indeed scumbags.

Oh yeah, this thread was still about VNs. Uh shit, most VNs are trash writing-wise. The only other VNs I genuinely like that have decent stories either aren't finished or filled with furry degeneracy.

I hope so, but I've seen plenty of cartel videos and beaner who have had exotic pets…
