Oh get bent you fucking hipster the amiibo is probably the least retarded way of going about the whole video game toy Skylanders thing that exists, the games that focus entirely on amiibo are fucking terrible and the ones that use them as intended (a little bonus or a feature like Smash's amiibo fighters) are good to great. Also a way to get your hands on an okay to good figurine of a Nintendo character.

Mobile games aren't even developed by Ninrendo, they're outsourced and not intended or presented as Nintendo going full mobile unless you're one of the retard businessmen that dumped stock into the company over Pokemon Go.

Nintendo saw that the average person spends a lot of time on their phone. Nintendo also saw that those people on their phones aren't looking for complex games on their phone (or else they'd be playing a handheld), so you can push out relatively simple apps and make big bucks off of side projects from big wallets who are easily bored and easily amused. And you can only ignore rising trends for so long: mobile isn't just "the next big thing," it IS the big thing right now. Almost everyone has one (to the point that those who don't are pretty much an extreme minority who are actively ignoring better technology for Reasons™), and pretty much every major and minor video game company has splashed into mobile in some form or way: apps that compliment gameplay experiences (e.g. Dead Rising 3 app), auxiliary apps for easier convenience in usage with an existing game or console (e.g. Sony's PlayStation app), and so on and so on.

You'd have to hate money and hate people to ignore the change in how people spend their time.
