So he switched to Torbjorne and refused to change until i would change of Sombra. People are retarded, i guess. That´s why i probably haven´t seen a single sombra in the 10 competitive matches i made since the patch.

A player in comp used Sombra on defense (Route 66), we didn't fare too well in general, then when we were attacking I picked Sombra, the player wanted to use her again, I asked him to let me try since I got the grasp of her a few matches earlier, he didn't quite like it, so he went attack Bastion, we pushed past the first checkpoint… and that's it, I kept hacking Rein among other targets, someone told me to hack Mercy, I was about to focus her but the team just kept dying, the problem surprisingly aside from Bastion sometimes was our Pharah, the enemy had Pharah AND McCree.

im not sure what the fuck theyre thinking, flying was something you wanted to do sparingly in the first place since it was so slow, and its not like there are very many maps that let her take advantage of that

they buffed the everloving shit out of ana, that has a lot to do with why a month later peoples opinion changed. on the other hand, over time there are less shitters just taking her for a spin and trying to play her as widowmaker with a self heal and people learned to work with her on their team.

Pharah is getting picked a lot now, I can still take her down most of the time but people don't focus her enough, same with Widow now that she charges up pretty fast.

I've noticed a lot of Route 66 matches end after that first point. Once the doors close it's just a death trap and if the attackers can't keep momentum, you never get past it.

Ana's enemy ult is getting the no call bug a few times, sometimes the buffed enemy calls, sometimes it doesn't.

Soldier is still not that good for countering Pharah in a consistent manner, McCree is still dominating I guess, sadly now Soldier counters D.Va just because Blizzard refuses to fix her critbox.

When I saw the reveal of her abilities, the first thing I though was how she's pretty much a counter to a lot of the game and she's never gonna accomplish much on her own except to multiply her team effectiveness considerably.

Just consider for instance that she can break down Reinharts Barrier faster than everyone else. A proper flank on her part on Rein even means he's stuck walking around to be murdered by the front line and everyone behind him counting on his barrier is now exposed.

I think the main problem I find with her is that there's very little if any situations where it's better to hack a enemy rather than shoot, you might as well stick to only hacking health packs.

I haven't gotten a chance to play her much, but it seems like you hack with her when going against a tank or any character with a surviveability boosting skill/escape, like Tracer or Reaper.

You have to hack when they don´t notice you. It doesn´t make any sense to try to hack someone who is already shooting at you. Also hacking is especially good against reinhard shields. I seriously don´t get why everyone in competitive seems to hate sombra. She´s incredible powerful in the right hands.

What's more important as a healer? Healing amount or % of team damage taken? Or does it all depend on the context of a match?

I had a comp match where I healed 20k but at 25% team damage taken, and I guess that's bad? We had a second healer and two dps shitheads that went off on their own and out of support range, so I can't tell if my % was that low due to them, or if it was on me.

That means guys on your team kept running in and dieing (or using health packs/alternative means of healing). Don't worry too much about the percent.

Old quickplay still exists and is well populated. I don´t get why people are so angry about this change.

Hack Mercy so she can't fly away. Mercy can't switch and shoot fast enough to disrupt a hack in progress so there's no worry there. Only thing is that Sombra's gun vs Mercy's blaster is at best an even fight. Someone good with the blaster will probably force you to retreat before you can secure the kill, so hacking Mercy is more of a teamwork thing. You hit her when she's somewhere vulnerable (ie near the front) and then she can't escape while the rest of your team gangs up on her.

How is this important for a Healer? You aren't supposed to take damage, period. That's for Tanks, any damage you can avoid taking is more time spent healing someone else.
Consider Ana and her grenade. you can try to take damage so your team doesn't and then heal yourself with the grenade. But this means you aren't healing your teammates with it, the teammates that most benefit from your grenade since you can shoot 2-3 shots afterwards and use it's healing boost.
Fuck, even just comparing the HPs and Armor between tanks and support should make this obvious, you should never take a single point of damage as support.

No. It's not. You only have 1 gun with 2 firing modes with one somewhat helping with movement but that's it.
Your enemies all do the same thing (try to rush you directly or indirectly) and you don't even have health or armor to worry about.

Your concept of "fast" is also fucked up, the entire scenario of the game is a limited plane with no obstacles or points of reference expect your enemies that are also in movement. You'll appear to move fast due to those factors, not because your movespeed is X m/s
In terms of movement, Lucio alone is more interesting than DD since you can move fast, faster and on walls as well.

You can mention sacred cows all you want, DD is an insult to them with just one weapon, one featureless map and boring simple enemies.

Oh that, that's another thing entirely.
That's something the healer only has to worry about partially, more specifically 1/6th of it. Healing damage starts by going near the healer instead of demanding he keep up with your speed, movement and kamikaze tactics, you can heal a lot of damage but not brain damage after all.

A 25% team damage taken for a healer doesn't mean that he missed 75%, it means solely that 75% damage was not healed for whatever reason. Sometimes it's because they were closer to medkits or didn't bother to go near you, othertimes it's because you were too busy doing healslut things.

Even total heal amount isn't as straight forward as people think since a low value might not mean you were a bad healer if there was no damage to heal, while an high value also means your team is shit and keeps applying the famous face-to-the-bullet tactic.

It will be like public servers in TF2, I'll be able to play any role I want disregarding team composition because it's not like it would make a difference anyway.
Best of all, everyone spouting shit about the game when they clearly haven't even played it won't have an excuse anymore. I'll be able to label them contrarians, which triggers them fiercely.

So i took a break from Waifuwatch for FFXIV and Destiny updates, played a little to try for lewd witch skin, got bastion,currybutt and coldhardt and stopped again. Trying now and the new arcade is great. Getting hate male as a rank 48 from a rank 76** because you bodied them in 1v1 or the stress-fun of a tight as fuck 3v3 is a hoot.

But what do you make of Sombra? on paper shes an OP edition to a team game, in practice playing as and against her just feels like a slow tracer, is that just because we are used to tracer as the 'run in shoot and port out' hero so far?

I'm sure theres some crafty autist whos figured out the best way to use the stelth camo and hacking health packs and turrets but so far she feels far more underwhelmed and underused than N'ana was.

Sombra is to Offense what Symetra is to Support.

Her killing potential is incredibly low considering her gun statistics:
Damage. 2.4–8. Falloff range. 15 to 25 meters. Rate of fire. 20 rounds per second.
This means that if you're at less than 15 meters, you'll deal 160 DPS
If you're farther away than 25 mters, you'll be doing 48 DPS

Now compare that with Tracer: Damage. 3 - 12 per shot Falloff range. 11 to 30 meters. Rate of fire. 20 shots per second
This means 240 at best and 60 at worst DPS

Or Soldier: Damage. 6-20. Falloff range. 30 to 55 meters. Rate of fire. 10 rounds per second
200 DPS at best, 60 at worst, and his best still happens at 30 meters versus 15 for Sombra.

If you try to play her like Tracer, you'll fail since she's worse in terms of damage and takes one second longer to unload the same amount of damage. Her escape mechanism also needs preparation while Recall doesn't and Invisibility is very lackluster compared to Blink for combat purposes.

From what I've tried, Sombra seems a character that doesn't kill directly but rather finishes off the other team. She's supposed to stay behind the oposing team, where she gets by user of her abilities and stays there hacking medkits (creating a safe haven where she has the upper hand and that's why she can hack medkits). You'll then proceed to hack people when your team engages them (not before nor afterwards) and you'll kill running stragglers or distract them before the fight starts but if you try to do it alone, you'll die against anything at all.

Forgot to say this:
It's because you have to coordinate with your team or at very least keep an eye for their icons that she will never see much use by scrubs.
In theory, you'd rush to the back of a team and hack their Reinhart to drop his barrier and leave everyone vulnerable.
In practice, you'll do that and nobody will react fast enough to kill the now exposed enemy team.

It's her dependancy on good teamwork, and especially voice communication that will keep her unpopular (which is amazing for anyone that likes to play stealth characters without the usual cancer muddying their reputation)

People haven´t really figured out Sombra yet. Give it one week and she´ll be an invisible walking teleporting nightmare.

Ana was fine up until they overbuffed her ult (HI MEI) which for 99% of the characters she can ult isn't game breaking

Its when she Ults Reinhardt and turns him into some overpowered The Incredible Hulk slash Sonic the Hedgehog fanfiction bullshit, gleefully following him around shoving healing darts up his ass it was entirely game breaking

And Mei's ult is still the most broken in the game second to D.Va's because it's four times the size of a capture point and works through walls

I said it in a previous thread that she could look a lot more like the raver hacker 90's archetype. I though some of ther skins might compensate for that, but now that you mention that in relation to her voice lines it does look like they were influenced by that movie.

"qué onda?" is still used but it's no longer a trendy way of saying hello. It's now ingrained in regular language, even older people use it.
"Asústame panteón" in my opinion is not an exact substitute for "show me what you got". It's more like a sarcastic remark as a way of saying "I'm not afraid of you" or "not impressed". I use this one frequently IRL so I was delighted to hear in on the list. Her pronunciation for that one could be a lot more sarcastic though.

She doesn't work well if you play her like tracer but she can be very dangerous

Asustame panteón may be very old, I don't know, maybe everything sounds weird because I live in Mexico City and is more or less rare to hear that many "catchphrases" around, the "less educated" people tend to swear a lot though.

Panteón is used her for graveyard, is more of a local word used for the same, we speak Spanish but is a little different than Spain's, specially Mexico, even though we have less local slang overall compared to other Latin American countries.

By "panteón" you are referring to the person you are saying the phrase to. Both "cementerio" and "panteón" are valid forms, but most mexicans favor using "panteón". Mostly because of tradition. At least my grandparents used that word to refer to cemeteries.

By "Juárez" they refer to the late president, Benito Juárez. I'm aware that "air" and "wind" are different thing but _we_ tend to incorrectly mix both terms and say "aire" when it should be "viento" but the phrase itself appears to use "aire" correctly.
It makes the point that air is something we use to live and that it doesn't (normally) damage us, so you use it to imply that whatever they say or do to you, it's completely indifferent to you.

Why do they refer to a dead president scpecifically is unknown to me. Perhaps the phrase comes back from when he was still alive.

The problem with your logic is, that you take only raw dps into account. But sombra has a way less bullet spread and has 20 more bullets per magazine. So Tracer has higher damage potential, but Sombras damage is, in my experience at least, way more consistent.

When it comes to attack using Rein it is important to advance as a unit unless your role is to disrupt the enemy lines, I have seen quite the opposite, Rein being the only one advancing onto the objective and everyone else trying to fight from afar.

No, it isn't and that's why most people fail at the game. They keep playing a team-based shooter like it's a standard arena shooter and shit don't fly the same way here.
2 decent players working together will win against 2 amazing players working alone, your aim and reflexes are important but your ability to coordinate and work together is much more important.

Trying to 1v6 will always produce terrible results. Even when you think you're pulling it off, it won't be working as well since you'll be missing the Point or letting your teammates slowly die and the enemy team will change tactics to specifically handle you. Many, many games you'll see the Defeat Screen and wonder "how did we lost when I killed so many people?" specifically because 1v6 doesn't mean anything here.

For instance, as Zenyatta, your aim with the orbs is very important and what makes you the lovely murder machine you are as well as your only defense mechanism. But paying attention to your team for the Harmony Orb to keep them alive (so they can protect you and charge your Ult) as well as keeping an eye on who your team is engaging for Discord Orb matters far more than your aim. A Zenyatta with 100% aim that never used a single Orb is indeed worse than a Zenyatta that never shoots at all but places the right Orb on the right person at the right time.

This is why Support characters often don't have to aim as well or they aren't meant to, this is why Tanks have guns that make it very easy to aim and why Defense heroes have indirect ways to use their guns to cause damage. Because for those 3 classes, it's about controlling the flow of the match, the position of everyone and coordinate with your team, not about seeing who kills the most.
Offense might be an exception here because most of them DO need to aim properly or you are better off Alt+F4 the game. But even them require to keep their team in view and work together. Soldier has a literal auto-aim as an Ulti for 100% aim, but you try to use it and rush alone, see how well that works for you. Sombra can shutdown abilties from any character, but you do it alone and see how well you can last against just his weapon.

Use the Voicewheel, but don't spam it.
I'm serious here, lot's of newbie and bad players can at least hear it and use it. Even bad healers hear the "need healing" and react to it if they are close enough, it at least makes them look around for you. And you can even coordinate Ultis with that, just let everyone know when your's is ready.
Trust me, the players are, on average, pretty bad but most can at least understand basic communication.

They're trying to alleviate ult impacts, the sombra patch actually increased their charge costs by 25% across the board. Eitherway welcome to the boat, rapefugee, it's no replacement for 2010 TF2 so far, but it'll have to do after the fucking abomination that game has become.

You probably just have to learn how to counter ults. Ults are very powerfu in this gamel, that´s right, but they are also very easy to counter if you know what you´re doing. In higher ranks you barely see a single ult killing a whole team anymore. For example: Reaper has an aoe attack which kills extremely fast, but McCree can just throw a flashbang at him and make him an easy target. Pretty much every ultimate can be countered by a normal ability of some other hero.

If you want to rework ults, you probably would need to make them less impactful but at the same time harder to counter, so they don´t get completely useless. Personally i think Ults how they are right now, are completely fine. Even Mei´s ult isn´t as annoying as before after the huge charge nerf and she even got an extra charge nerf on the top of that.

I guess the idea of Ults for the Devs was mostly the same thing Ubercharge was for TF2, and if you think about it in the same way, it makes a lot of sense.
The idea isn't to have a powerful move that kills several people, it's supposed to be a move that breaks locks in the game, much like how Ubercharges where things Medics charged and saved for specific moments to make a strong push or a strong defense for that moment and the game actually progressed.

You have a bunch of players clumped together defending a point and they are heavily entrenched. You have 2 options:
1-Surgically target them and whittle down their numbers throughout several minutes, forcing them to change tactics and stop you in a long war of attrition.
2-Drop a Riptire in the middle of them.

Option number 1 is arguably the one that would take more skill to pull off and I doubt anyone would dispute that, but it wouldn't necessarily be the most fun one, it consumes large amounts of time where the same tactics are repeated over and over and nothing really happens for a long time.
Option 2 is in the end, more fun and fast-paced.
Charging Ults is more interesting than how Medics do it and differentiates good players from bad players, who charge faster and get Ults sooner and in greater number while also being a skill that you use every 1-2 minutes, rocking the boat and forcing the other team to suddenly react to it. Most experienced players hear a Rip-Tire and immidiatly scramble away from each other, or they hear Soldier's line and seek cover.

Probably an oversight of it. Reaper had a lot of places he could teleport to when it wasn't intended for him to move there, maybe they missed a few abilities there. But it's most likely due to latency and, in the server, Roadhog hooked him before he Wraithform.

after a few loses/wins I'm 2940. 2900-3000 Diamonds don't give a fuck if you want to climb, they already have the season reward guaranteed. They still well eventually force you to go out of position, which as MercyTF2 Medic is pretty much everything.
However we will see, so far my teammates are unable to get back door out of me. In time they should get reaction time fast enough to counter most of them.

You have to remember TF2 defense were 2-3 engineer turrets that killed you with mere sight and demonans bombs which killed you before you saw him. Overwatch doesn't have such strong locks in the game, which begs a question why add mechanic used to break such locks in first place.

Also in TF2 such locks were easily counter able by the fact how stationary they were. It was possible to break them without ubercharge, uber was just one of many options. It was fun to add such thing to character designed around healing alone, this alongside over healing actually made medic fun.

Fuck around in the practice range with all the heroes so you get an idea of how they all work before playing against other players.

Ideally you want two healers and two tanks in a team, though in quickplay games you'll be lucky just to get one of each.

You lose your ultimate charge by changing heroes between deaths. Don't fall into the trap of thinking "I should keep playing my current hero no matter how badly I'm doing so I don't lose my ultimate charge".

Contrary to what you hear ultimates aren't simply a question of hitting Q and getting kills. You do have to find the best opportunity to use them, they are best use in combination with your teammates ultimates (holding tab lets you see which teammates currently have their ultimates charged up, Zarya in particular has the best ult for using in combos). While heal-based ultimates like Zenyatta's and Lucio's are suited for using to counter enemy ultimates.

When D.Va activates her ultimate (you'll hear her say "Nerf this!") don't try to escape the blast range, it is massive, instead grab cover between you and the blast, shields can also completely block infinitely high damage blasts no matter how little health they have so make sure to use them as well.

It goes both ways too, lots of players forget they have a healer on their team and die because of that.
I remenber many games as Ana where a McCree starts looking around in panic when I begin healing him, asking himself what sorcery is that.
But I noticed that, if you heal people with some consistency, they'll understand it and start trusting in you more than in medkits. For instance, if you keep shooting your teammates for healing when they are in a specific location, you'll see them going back there when low on health, waiting for you to heal them. It's quite Pavlonian.

Demomans, Snipers, Soldiers and Heavys or even Pyros could also make for decent locks provided the player wasn't retarded and they were far from stationary (the Sniper being the exception but his range covers for that)
The counters against any of that, besides an Uber was a Soldier or Demo as they were the only classes that could safely apply burst damage from a distance, but they can get shutdown easily unlike an UberCharge by competent Snipers, Spys or even Pyros protecting a Sentry Nest or simply having teammates on the move nearby catching them unaware.

Overwatch has more locks like that but they aren't imminently obvious except for the Rein+Mercy+Bastion combo.
You have more, like Ana and any Tank on the front or a Junkrat\Pharah in chokepoints or even any hitscan hero in long range corridors.
Those usually don't kill you in seconds like the Sentrys or the Stickies from TF2, but they will muder you if you move out of cover into the open without a plan and that's where lock-breaking mechanics come in.

I actually like that people think, Sombra is a bad hero. Because this way she won´t be nerfed any time soon.

No clue man, I gave up playing Roadhog entirely because the hook just never works properly for me. My numerical accuracy with it is decent but almost every time it either pulls them to the wrong place so I can't shotgun them, pulls them but doesn't stun them so they just ability away, or doesn't pull them at all because their toe hooks on a pebble or something.

I'm convinced I can't play roadhog because of how good his hook is and yet I still try to lead with it instead of taking advantage of the fact the fucking thing is practically hitscan.

In TF2 it was designed for you to not be able to stand chance against turrets so it was only fair for you to have counter play.
In Overwatch nothing is designed for you to not have a chance. There is no need for special counter play required because being good is enough.

By this logic Ults are redundant mechanic which isn't bad on its own but really just makes certain moments extremely annoying.
I know they are counter able, in meantime I actually started getting idea about how to dodge D.Va and saw junkrat wheel getting destroyed.

Partially correct. Each hero individually is incapable of blocking another, even Mei. But with a decent amount of teamwork, they can easily form a wall you simply won't get past. Defenders usually have the upper hand since they can prepare and see you coming, thus reacting faster after all. And when you have a Turret on one side and Torb on the other, it's hard to prioritize properly or handle that. See Bastion for even better examples.

So in comes the Ults that force the defending team to react to something new and more unpexpected than just you moving out of the corner into the open. A Dva mech or a RipTire dropping on the point, someone nano boosted going their way or Double Dragons. In higher levels of play, Ults damage more the concentration and focus of a team than their health.

However, has you have begun to understand, they can be countered. You can hear the queues and try to predict what's gonna happen. Hanzo just threw his dragons, where would he shoot that? A RipTire is coming, but from where? Dva is charging my way, she's gonna Self-Destruct, where's cover I can use?
They are similar and yet entirely different to Ubercharges. Their point isn't to make someone invulnerable while he pushes your shit in, it's to confuse and force a change in tactics even for just a few seconds, and the team that can react the best and the fastest is the one that gets the most out of their Ults and wins the game.

This is the aspect I like the most about Overwatch, that it's about improvising and doing the best you can with your class, whatever you have chosen. Not just doing the same basic tactics over and over again and not just aiming a gun down on your enemies and winning with accuracy alone but by outmaneuvering and outwitting your adversary as well.

So I'm brand new. Never bought the game because I didn't know if I could run it. Turns out that I can run it, it just looks like shit. And I like it. I feel like D.Va is a good match for me. I seem to do well with her. I also like McCree a lot, and I've done all right with Mercy as well.
