The gunplay is shit. You spend a fair portion of the game using guns. Having shit gunplay is not excusable.
The notion that you don't optimise until you're out of the alpha is retarded because there is a lot of subjectivity to what's considered an alpha and because, on this game in particular, most of the performance issues come from aspects of the game that won't be affected by adding more content (lighting and some shaders are the issue, not game mechanism, they could have optimised months ago).

Wasn't this piece of shit supposed to be finished nearly 6 months ago? I remember trying it out at the start of the year and just giving up because it runs like absolute dogshit (even with a good PC you'll be lucky to get more than 30fps constant even when downscaling to 720p or so, you pretty much need a 1070 or higher to even think about playing without downscaling or above 30-40fps or so).

But it is decent, provided you're playing with at least one friend and hosting your own private server. One of the biggest problems with ARK besides the shit-tier performance that nobody is disputing is that the default multipliers on resources and taming speed are insanely grindy, and player/tamed dino damage is far too low without a large tribe backing you up; but this is where the hosting your own server part comes in.

Cranking things up to say, 300% player damage, 200% friendly dino damage, 10x taming speed, 6x gathering, and removing the default level cap on Dinos so they can spawn all the way up to 120 and fuck your shit up if you aren't prepared provides an incredible coop experience.

A game should be good on its own merit and even better if there is well implemented multiplayer content. This kind of shit (rust, dayZ, long etc) rely on player interaction to be bearable and that's not what a good game is all about.

I agree with the atleast one friend comment but would argue that official is where it's at. Hoping that devs will permanently crank things to 2X gather/tame rates cause the grind is unreal. Having ridiculous rates above anything 2X means the server needs to be rebooted once a month due to retarded amounts of resources. Dinos now spawn up to 150

Ehh I prefer the whole player interaction as a core game element. Building tribes and making alliances through necessity rather than going it solo makes the whole experience more meaningful. The couple months spent as one of the best tribes on a server were some of the best times in my entire lifetime of gaming.

Pteras are gay. What you need is a flock of Quetzels carrying around all the allosaurus, with speed maxed out.

Pteras are the backbone of all warfare in ark and are the single best transport when it comes to getting from a to b. The only mount better suited for warfare is a quetz with a platform saddle so you can box it out to absorb turret bullets.

Not him but honestly you rarely use guns for anything other than maybe mid to high level tribe pvp. You'd have a point if you did actually use guns in the majority of the game but most people use pikes, clubs, and dinosaurs.

Though tbh melee needs quite a bit of wok too

Sleeping bags are meant to be a one time respawn while actual beds are for continual use.

You can turn ground clutter to speed up the game and actually be able to find things. No markers for the remains though you just gotta learn the map which isn't hard with pteras

Raptors, dilos and all the other low level dinosaurs are pretty easy to deal with or just outright avoid. Anything higher level generally you'll be off the ground flying or close to a flying mount.

Crafting system is set the way it is to push people together in tribes.

Taming does take a bit but it's not so bad when you have shitloads of narcotics from a farm and kibble to speed up the process. Couple that with x2 everything weekends and it's actually not that bad.

Things stop being quick when you stop chasing and start shooting.

You're supposed to manage your time effectively so when the sun goes down you generally stop hunting/taming/gathering/exploring and start crafting/go to base and rub one out irl/turn up gamma via settings and do whatever the fuck you want cause you can now see in the dark

OP is always a faggot and I wasn't expecting people to be beating down the servers door to join. The code has currently been used four times which means if everyone that's been on the server joined there'd be enough people to make a well rounded tribe of five.
