People legitimately enjoy and fondly remember Drakengard despite the gameplay being mostly terrible.

People "ironically" like/meme/enjoy in a "that's so corny it's great" way the second game despite the gameplay being top-notch.

Why? Revengenencings is a better game to play, but it doesn't remotely come close to being as memorable, impactful, or dare I say – interesting and fun – as Drakengard.

Because a story with Elder God Cannibal babies and body horror harpie sisters and about the comraderie between a mass murderer and his tsun-tsun dragon is vastly superior to typical Platinum hack-and-slash.

Meanwhile people actually enjoy Bayonetta sans the memes. Why? Because porn

By the end, you, her, and the rest of your friends go their separate ways for a few years though, which I guess can be the reason to justify in game if you choose to pursue a different girl The jump to PS4 makes the question of cross-save import, or choosing in game..

CSIII has a prospective release of Fall 2017. I never noticed Falcom being slow with the Legend of Heroes series, it's the XSEED localizations that can take awhile, and I can't blame them, those games have long ass fucking scripts.

While technically true for some people, I think the ratio of people who simply watched Drakengard's cutscenes on Youtube is much higher than those who gave up on Revengeance because the plot was silly.

Bad story can often be skipped, bad gameplay cannot, and thus, results in people dropping games due to it more than they do for story. This means that gameplay is more important be default because having a game that's a chore to play, no matter how 'excellent' the story is, means people won't bother to get through it when they can just check out the story on Youtube.

It's why a lot of new story driven games axe the gameplay entirely for mild interaction, like Telltale's shit.

I mean I realize this whole post is bait and that I probably shouldn't be replying, but I felt compelled because I know there are people I mean complete fucking idiots who genuinely think like this.

Yes, and I think games are a truly underappreciated storytelling medium, but I don't forgive Drakengard for anything. The gameplay is awful and the story is so hopeless and depressing that I have no reason to give a fuck about what happens, because I know everything and everyone is completely fucked and it will only get worse.

Seriously, it's the only game I own that I got no enjoyment out of whatsoever. That's quite an accomplishment, because I can usually have at least some fun with anything I find even slightly interesting. It's also the only game in my collection that I wouldn't bother replacing if I ever lost it, which is significant for an OCD type like myself. I hate it *that* much.
