I've been playing 4 recently and the situation's pretty dire. I believe that the modding is pretty limited for the time being.

It's coming along…decently i think. Though I cant remember how long vegas or skyrim took. Theyre making a lot of voiced quests now, and they got a fuckton of weapons, armors and craftable shit already. The really advanced stuff though, that requires a lot from the script extender aint out yet.

There's a lot of "new content" mods, but no real core changes. I've yet to see a perk overhaul or anything of the kind, which is a shame. I'd give it a good year or two before it gets to proper levels, but that's only if people still remain interested in it

OP, I'm on my phone now, wanted to play fallout again after a s.t.a.l.k.e.r kick. STEP guide is a wonderful start, so is halfchan's fallout generals sticky. I have played PN FOOK jsawyer someguy weapons of the new millenia add basically all these big mods I like them, I kinda want the ULTIMATE nv experience, take everything and make it much better. I got that before with my old mod game. I had shitloads of very different gun armor gameplay mods survival UI houses vehicles weather and ENB then I went into the geck and made sure none of them interfered in any way with them. Paved over errors, I added new scripts item lists for enemies and adjusted item values. I got pretty into it, the game was then pretty much the best game I had played after a lot of of work and I loved that. But what I really love and want are the hidden gemstones on the the nexus and elsewhere. Like better burned man was one of I found this way.

so after trying for a bit I got stuck when mod organizer failed to load nv4gb. nv4gb worked standalone but would instacrash when working with mod organizer. I will stick with the classic of FOMM since it actually works

I use a mod that replaces VATS with bullet time.
I thought it would be weird, but it feels surprisingly good and fits pretty well with the more action-oriented approach that 3 and NV took. Now, instead of leisurely selecting to shoot a dude in the face 30 times, I just slow down time, line up my shot, and shoot him in the face 30 times.
Or the weapon, legs, arms, and so forth. It's also handy for dodging attacks, too. Obviously, don't get it if you like how VATS is, but it's the only gameplay mod I have besides JSawyer Ultimate.

also Autumn Leaves, no fighting but it was so good they ripped it off and made it DLC for fallout 4

pirated versions are just as buggy user, I'd recommend getting a mod that makes different saves for you after entering/exiting areas/ after a set amount of time.

Bash tags need to be added for the plugin and there are a couple fixes to be forwarded. It is a good idea to do it now by starting FNVEdit and following these instructions:
Right click the list and "Select None".
Tick "YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm" and "Cut Content Merged.esp", then hold shift and click [OK].
After xEdit loads, click record 00134094, then drag line BMDT - Biped Data from the YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm column, to the right, Cut Content Merged.esp column.
Now do the same for line DATA - Data and DNAM -.
Now expand Dialog Topic->0010E028.
Click record 001205A6, and then drag line Responses->Response->NAM1 - Response Text from the YUP - Base Game + All DLC.esm column to the Cut Content Merged.esp column.
Repeat the exact same operation for record 001547A4.
Now right click "Cut Content Merged.esp" and select "Apply Script"
Choose "Generate Bash Tags" from the dropdown and click [OK]
When asked to add the tags to the header, select [Yes]

I'd recommend you get H&Hs 1st Person Animation Pack V1.2, it contains all the Hitman animations combined with the Hax ones, covers a shitload of weapons.

OP here I got most of the mods; I want as well as a shitload of texture and model replacements. Game runs solid; played for a few minutes with a test character. Now I'm going to go into the GECK and make more adjustments to my taste. Like changing the NCR service rifle to the FN FNC for example. I tried an ENB but it made things jaggy for some reason so I'll try something else along with a weather mod

For anyone looking for a mod to make the game more…interesting, download Strip Your Enemies. It's pretty great. It makes all headshots killshots, unless theyre (or you're) wearing helmets, and the helmets themselves can be shot off, where you need to pick em up after.
