After 10 years of rocky development time, including a title change, a waifu change and probably removing all references to XIII, I really think Square shouldn't put all their eggs into one basket like this, especially after XIII nearly killed the brand.
It's a good thing they have numerous plan b's in place in case it flops, those being Kingdom Hearts 3 and Stormblood: Final Fantasy XIV, otherwise Square would die. There is no way this game will make back its costs, let alone make any profit.

Why is going back to FF's roots such a hard task for Square? It seems almost like this game is made for the devs first and the players second, its still impressive on a technical level but its still strange that they wont make a turn based RPG with XV's visuals.

I don't know about anyone else but I'm really looking forward to playing Final Fantasy XII when it comes out next year.

Played the demo in moonspeak last night. Played much better than i was expecting, and way better than the platinum demo.

Battle system was meh until I actually fought something difficult, and then the nuances of switching weapons and all of that actually began to feel pretty cool. This game will probably end up better than 12 and 13, though that isn't saying much.

Eh the story in FF12 was meh and the combat system felt worse than the turn based shits from the previous. I always prefered the Tales/SO3 style of combat through the useage of skills in a more of a real time esq battle instead of either turn based or the mmo system that 12 had.
