Pipeline Standing Rock: US denies key permit for Dakota Access pipeline, a win for tribe

Well considering that trump supports this shit and has investments into the company itself this clearly isn't over, but at least the protesters get a 3 month break and can continue with a victory under their belt

What are the odds the company just goes ahead anyways and pays a fine later

Trudank just signed off on two major pipeline projects here in Canada, and they have a lot of opposition from environmentalists and indigenous groups. Hopefully Standing Rock will inspire protests of similar scale and tenacity here.

Some members of Trudeau's cabinet have even threatened to use military force against any such protests. Oka 2.0 is here, file the mag pins off your SKSs comrades lets get to work!

I love when liberals show their true colors

Havent protests already started in canada?

Trudeau is the worst kind of scum
Worse than outright right wingers

I worry that this is a way to clear out the camp and postpone the real decision until Trump takes office.. hopefully the folks up there cook up good strategy for a number of scenarios..

People act like Canada is this progressive paradise, but how it deals with its native populations has always been atrocious. From the industrial days in British Colombia, they still refuse to clean up spills of asbestos from collapsing mines and fisheries and abandoned boom towns left to rot.

Leaving natives to have to move from ancestral land they've been in for longer than Europeans settled.

Canada is infamous for shoving them aside.

If it will postpone protests until trump gets in then even the liberals will be unified on it cause if there is something liberals hate more than someone that is more left than them it is trump

Supporting First Nations, women, the climate and human rights is totally non-contradictory with with seizing unceded land for oil pipelines and shipping LAVs to Saudi Arabia. It's just smart politics.

Yeah, as a Canadian the education system always shoves it down our throats that our relations with the natives used to be bad, but the government patched everything up, and its AOK now, despite sending pipelines through their lands, polluting their water systems, and setting up mines near their vicinity.

How will we ever recover

Yeah. I mean, if everything is patched up, then there should be no reason not to clean up old ghost towns that are just flowing with asbestos and lead.

But the excuse is expense, always.

Apparently the Army Corps of Engineers stepped in and got the military to dispute the DAPL.

What'd you expect that is the liberal hallmarkā€¦

it would be obvious by now that liberals never want to actually fix anything, just keep everything running smoothly.

I'm sure they'll just reroute it. A victory for tribal/clean water concerns, but the war against the planet will continue.

No doubt but at least we now know that victory is not impossible

At it was a very publicized example of determined popular resistance stopping the corporate state in its tracks.

He's selling arms to Saudi Arabia too

Does anyone think that Trump would escalate it to a full on massacre if he made it to office before this is over?

He can try.

I hope he does, it would justify armed resistance of native people in the eyes of the public.

Socialist indigenous states when?

...

Notice that retarded detour to that body of water?

There is a concerted effort to poison reservoirs and buy up the rest, and to convert oil pipelines to be used for transporting water when the wells dry up. This isn't the article I first learnt about this, but it gives some insight. If someone has seen the article which talks about hoarding of reservoirs it would be appreciated.

Look to states where it is illegal to collect rainwater, these are the states the pollution of the water supply and sales of bottled water will occur first.

It would do the opposite I would think. Natives have an incredibly high suicide rate.

With Harper, people would more likely be against him doing it, wouldn't they?
