I Discovered Holla Forums (and /lit/) over a year ago when looking for porn on the board list. I occasionally browsed Holla Forums when I was a liberal, because it was reassuring to see people who were further left than I was (and weren't just a collection muh privileged authoritarian bourgeoise feminists roleplaying as leftists like you find on leddit). While I usually didn't agree with Holla Forums, its mere existence made me no longer felt like an outcast for disbelieving certain aspects of the modern American neoliberal orthodoxy, and allowed me to become more comfortable with my pinko tendencies. You could say that Holla Forums moved my personal Overton window.
However, my shift from liberal to socialist was mostly the result of the Sanders primary campaign, reading A People's History of the United States, and the presidential election. It almost certainly would have happened without Holla Forums, but they helped, and they continue to help with liberal deprogramming.
Politics is a religion to Holla Forums.
