We're less than one month away from Christmas Eve, and most Venezuelans should know what that means.

The black market dollar exchange rate went from 1400 BsF/$ to 4000BsF/$ in one month, and 2500 BsF/$ to 4000 BsF/$ in one week, after being stable for a few months.

News about Venezuela's hyperinflation go here.

On reddit's front page yesterday "Venezuela's currency now worth so little shopkeepers weigh vast piles of notes instead of counting them"

I haven't seen anyone weighing money, but it seems that we're not too far from having to do that.

That's not what I said. There are examples of socialism that failed (for different reasons). And then there is Venezuela.

Socialism is defined as democratic control of the means of production. Venezuelan production is state-owned and run by bureaucrats. This was the intent of the Venezuelan government. It cannot be socialism. If socialism complied with your strawman definition (the government controlling production) then all past and present monarchies would be examples of socialism.

Could he have stopped it?

He just died at the right time.

...

See my comment:
Once again, if your strawman definition was correct, socialists should support monarchism.

Chavez looks like an alien

there is no point in arguing with leftists. it's only muh feels anyways

This is impossible without representative ownership, with the socialist state representing the workers, A 1000 people can not together own a factory in the sense that one or two people can own a car.

Only selected branches of industry are nationalized. It's a capitalist, social democrat welfare state.
They do have a socialist movement, but it's a weak one falling behind the revolutionary potential of the people and is not willing to take steps to actually construct socialism.
I do have sympathy towards them since they did improve the living conditions for most people, but their socialist theory is bourgeoise and utterly useless at this point and needs to be overcome.

It only exists in context of dictatorship of one class or the other and not for its own sake. The venezuelan social democrat bureaucracy is attempting the impossible feat of pacifying both the bourgeoise and working class.

As expected of an "anarcho"-capitalist, though. They are unrivalled in their sophistry.

Works fine. See cooperatives.

1000 people can certainly have _control_ of a factory. I'm not sure why it matters what sense they own it in.

And why not, pray tell.

How's socialism working for you, Holla Forums?

Doesn't seem to work for Venezuela.

Also

2500 to 4100 in one week*

How's Honduras's anarcho capitalism going for it. The place must be lousy with roads by now.

literally where

Can you frame the question in a manner that isn't retarded

Wew so did the Wiemar Republic prove the failure of capitalism then?

It's good to be honest, that will force the government to actually react, seize shit and distribute it directly instead of allowing corporations to hoard.
Workers have already been sent to work the fields and make Venezuela self-reliable on food, the complete disruption of market exchange could leave a good window for workers to organize.

Just Capitalism, are you gonna say Chile was Socialism because Pinochet kept copper Nationalized, why is Venezuela Socialism for Nationalizing oil? Both kept their market economies, just differently regulated, like the US and Europe.

this was his doing, Maduro is fixing it.

We're not claiming they were outspoken fascists, just cryptofascists.

I've truly understood why right wingers say this given their romanticism, religiosity and nostalgia. Marxism is scientific.

Haha, you think that Maduro will react at all.

Not to mention their mythical natural rights which come straight out of Christian Theology

Maybe they can use the money as toilet paper

To buy one bag of rice, you need around 45 100-bolĂvar bills. I don't even want to see how much a pair of shoes costs right now.

one 1kg bag of rice

...

Enjoy your token factories publicly advertised as socialist enterprises while the bolibourgeois rake in massive surpluses. It will several decades until an actual revolution can occur here after so much bullshit this government has done to this country.

Not to mention still maintaining the ridiculous currency exchange which only benefits those capable of obtaining dollars through the official rates (guess who does?) and blaming a right wing propaganda website which posts the unofficial rates as the cause of the economic crisis. Fucking idiotic chavistas.

Why can't Holla Forums just fucking learn the definition of socialism?
