This is true. I like the idea of the animal transformations, but all it really does is slow down the gameplay. Imagine if you were playing metroid and you had to stop and transform every time you wanted to use the morph ball.
I still like the games, and Shatae is a qt, but their gimmick only hurts them.

It was an interesting mechanic in the GBC game since you actually had to dance instead of hold down a button long enough, so you had to dance accurately and in a safe spot if you transformed in a boss fight. Damn near impossible to do that in Risky's Revenge, and on top of that, you can't really use animal forms to the best of their abilities with attacks. Better off just using her normal hair whip.

Pirate's Curse is a lot of fun, so I'm glad there should be a Risky mode in Half-Genie Hero with all her tools again. I like the slower gameplay of the GBC game, so if it's anything like that again, I'll be happy.

They just needed a more intuitive way to go about implementing it. Having to slog through three animations just to transform into a mermaid was terrible, but if they add a faster means to do it (I think they did in 1/2 Genie:Hero?), I personally don't have any trouble with it.

I also thought the exploration in risky's revenge was fucked. You had to explore the entire map several times if you wanted to find the places to use your abilities, it was annoying as shit. Pirate's curse fixed it with its level select and letting you know exactly how much more shit you had to collect

Starsector is overpriced for the amount of content it has now, like most indie games, and developement is taking forever, like most indie games, but what is there is fine and it's a better Mount & Blade IN SPACE than SPAZ was imo.
