SMT1 and 2 have pretty bad interface and dungeon crawling is barebones but other things like the setting, story and the whole demon summoning thing keeps things interesting. Play them first if you have the patience to withstand bad UI.

SMT Nocturne is a great starter. has everything you would want out of an SMT game

Nocturne is always a good place to start, Strange Journey is not a bad place either although some faggots like to bitch about some of its dungeons.

1, 2 and the online game that got shut down Imagine were all connected plot wise, plus 1, 2 finally got official translations on iOS only.
3 is it's own thing, same goes for Strange Journey and 4.

Just reinstalled PCSX2 and re-loaded Nocturne. Got a new vid card for my toaster so it runs much better.

I beat SMT4 and I was *going* to get SMT4 Final but I just couldn't be arsed. I have Nocturne, DDS1, DDS2, Raidou 1 and Raidou 2 and I haven't beaten them yet so I figured I'd just stick to those.

Playing IV Final. Just beat Sheesha for the third time, think I'm getting closer to the end of the game? Also played Persona 5 up until I got to Futaba's dungeon. I liked it, better than 3 and 4, but Jesus the amount of reading got me down, I need a break.

How is P5? Is it worth it for someone who doesn't care for SOL or waifu bait?

I don't care about either of those things either. If you like anything about the gameplay in Persona 3 or 4, you'd probably like Persona 5. The fact that the story dungeons have actual level design does a lot to make me like the game. The waifubait feels somewhat less in your face than Persona 4 at least, and it's got a darker feel tjan Persona 4 while not seeming as edgy as Persona 3.

How large are the dungeons in P5? I've tried to limit what I know about the game but knowing that the dungeons are actually designed this time is a good sign.

The three I've gone through are a pretty decent size. Big enough that they allow you to warp between save rooms. I hear that they get even bigger later.

Playing SMT4 before Apocalypse comes out in Yurop (which should give me enough time, given that Atlus-games usually come out 1-2 years later than the NA-release).
Finished the Nothing-route, now going for Law, then Chaos and then finally Neutral.
I have to stress how really really I like the OST in this game.

When I've got that done, I'm gonna restart Strange Journey, because I stopped after the first dungeon.

I managed to get Neutral on my first try without a guide, then did Chaos before getting bored. The problem with the Law and Chaos endings is that the Neutral ending more or less plays you through the endgame of the two aligned endings, and then some. Playing through the entire game again only to replay a small segment that I already cleared through a different perspective isn't worth my time, let alone playing one more time for the Nothing end which I watched anyway for the save file mark. If you manage that, then more power to you I guess.

I replayed Devil Survivor OC all the times it took to fully clear every route and receive the character stickers on the same save file. tfw want to replay it again but there's nothing left to do

Its very complicated, dungeons are more annoying in a sense you literally can't complete them in a day it takes roughly 2-4 days to actually complete them because you get forced leaved or plot progression. Dungeons are also like Zelda style need to solve some puzzles

Does P5 have not absolute garbage pacing again? Real talk I'm not putting up with 80% of the game being absolutely nothing worth note happening (like the majority of Persona 3's plot) or it being completely inconsequential due to some dumb twist (P4 kids do literally zero detective work until the very very end).

This whole 'gotta purge those evil adults of their urges' feels a lot like edgy teenagers can do no wrong bullshit.

Within two hours of the game you're already starting the first dungeon also the Phantom Thieves are confirmed to be the smartest and most competent team

I'm asking is it still like P3's plot where you're literally waiting for shit to happen whilst grinding forever in Tartarus only to get hit with a twist that literally anyone can see happening a mile away. Knowing that they aren't reusing the shitty enemies from P3 and 4 again has me hopeful but as far as I can deal the demons aren't actual demons but 'shadows' that just look like demons because of adults are evil magic or something.

P3 started fast but I want to know if it drags on forever like this. Don't misunderstand how much I hate P3's plot pacing, it is really that bad do people actually discover new things about the supernatural problem, and try to figure out what is happening and get shit done as opposed to literally being strung along by some obvious big bad adult.

I emulate on PC. There are still bugs to work out but for turn-based remakes, it's technically playable. Lots of ear rape in Soul Hackers though. I think a 2x speed button would solve a lot of Citra's current issues.

Persona Q was fun though, or at least not Untold 2. As long as you read fucking none of the dialogue/story and don't listen to anyone, except the protagonists and Zen, it's an easy 8/10. EO's localisation has been solid for the most part. The only problems with them are the occasional minor translation errors.

I was able to buy two pieces of gear there in vanilla IV first playthrough without macca DLC. It's grinding either way but relic grinding is doable.

In addition, you have to grind a fuckton even with the app dlc to get that. You only get app cards dropped in points of 20, 10, and 5. After reaching level 99 you don't receive any more app points upon level up. It's maddening how much of a joke it is.

Now the story dlc is much more significant this time around since it completes the hunters notes more, especially the demonic Mikado one, but I pirated the dlc so does any of it really matter?

If anything, apoc made TDE canon, the Messiah DLC has Demifiend die during his fight with Lucifer and he has to get his shit together before he can try again. The only thing TDE effects is the conceptions in YHVH controlled universes. In Apoc you create a new universe and then banish YHVH from it permanently. He will come to exist outside of it since human are imperfect in other worlds.
