Saw a copy of it (Klonoa 2 for the PS2, I mean, not the GBA one; what was up with those naming conventions, having multiple Klonoa 2's around?) a few days back. While I suppose emulation is an option for those without toasters, is it worth dropping $20-30 on? I got lucky a few years back and found Klonoa for the PS1 for $35 complete, but since I don't see Klonoa 2 much, I'm wondering if I ought to grab it while it doesn't seem horribly pricy (if that's still a good price).

I am a expert poorfag and used games shopper. I would say yes if I compare that to prices here. The prices for PS2 games didn't skyrocket that much. A normal game costs between 10 and 15 €, a rarer or more popular one 20 €. 30€ is a good price for things you find once in a blue moon. Normally they want 40 € from you. For comparison: The worst price I saw in the wild was for a complete boxed copy of Albion which was about 90€ and probably plus a part of your soul.

Went back and played Tomb Raider 2 today. Was real fun. Finished it up and the credits last a minute with less than twenty names in there. The gameplay is still better than 90% of the trash released today and actually has decent level design with open sections and no constant fucking "help". It reminded me that, yes, it's not just nostalgia goggles, games really have fucking gone down hill.

In other words the same kind of motherfucker who has caused Comic book bubble in the 90s has entered retro gaming and it shows everywhere. Games that used to be ubiquitous got scarce and unreasonably expensive. Some games that were merely obscure went up to those 200 $ prices. Those speculators are also organized in little online cliques and they collude with each to keep the prices up. Remember that thread about the guy throwing mint games on the market just to lower the prices and spite the creeps he had to suffer online for years? Ever noticed how some people resort to repocarts, because the prices for the original are so insane? Meanwhile, new games come with Collector's Editions, just like comic books. It started with special packaging and ended with editions like the huge box for Guild Wars 2. Just watch the webm. Now that everything is digital, people get more fond of the idea of owning a game. So they seek out physical copies which makes used games without DRM restrictions even more expensive. Of course the bubble can't last forever and will pop some time in the near future.

Nope. Only way to get cards, as far as I know, is to either get them from the daily roulette reward, by completing daily challenges (most of which will be "win # ranked matches"), or by paying cash money for them.

I think you can also recycle duplicate cards.. But you need to get cards in the first place to have duplicates to recycle, so you can use shards to buy the cards you want.

Fug. Trading/sharing cards was half the fun for me back in the day and I want to relive that.

The defensive options are kinda meh, opposed to souls games - blocking feels a bit pointless when enemies seem to have nearly unlimited stamina and poise isn't a thing. It shines at about the one-third mark, when you start accruing Devotion and getting to customize a loadout you get when you rest, which depends on your… I guess it'd be like a covenant? Each faith has different items they offer when you do work for them. So for example, that character has 9… estus, you might say, but also 2 os a seperate healing item that also heals poison (which is worse in Salt than in Souls by a fair degree) and a weapon buff for holy damage. These restock like estus when I rest at sactuaries for that devotion.

Not to mention Wounding and Focus which I both love and hate as mechanics.

I haven't played any Hearthstone, but I've seen some shit on it, and as far as I can tell, it's exactly like the Hearthstone model of digital card game.

It's not a digital adaptation of the Wakfu TCG from a few years ago. It's its own thing, more or less.

You start each match with 1AP, which is spent to summon cards and play spells. Goal of the game is to destroy 2 out of your enemy's 3 Dofus on their side of the field. Only catch is that there are 5 hidden eggs. 3 Dofus, 2 fakes.

Each round, you get 1 more max AP, up to 10. The more AP something costs, the better it is, usually.. But there are also card rarities, so a high rarity 6AP card is way better than a common 6AP card, usually in some really drastic, bullshit ways.

There's also some mechanics for building up a side reserve of AP, certain cards that only work with certain Gods (Xelor plays differently than Iop, for instance) and getting different bonuses based on unit placement.

It's interesting, at least. Ankama has just always been shit about matchmaking with their competitive games. Krosmaster had the same problems.

Wounding and Focus basically restrict how long you can last outside a sanctuary, by the way - as you get hurt your max HP drops. This can be remedied in a few ways, but not many. And as you use magic, the same thing happens to stamina. Theres a cap on both, but I'm not sure how much.

One thing that's pretty souls-like is the exploration and boss loop, but it feels more like Symphony of the Night and Bloodborne had a baby than anything.

Hokay, so, you have a devotion. Devotions have Icons, which you place in a sanctuary to claim it. Thing is, you can only find some devotions AFTER you start the game, and once claimed, a sanctuary is hard to change. And you can only cusstomize sanctuaries for devotions you're a part of. So, let's say I'm a follower of Devora. If I claim a bunch of sanctuaries, then find another devotion I like more, then I can't add merchants to those old devora shrines. So maybe you would want to skip sanctuaries to get different devotions there. But you'd only really want to do that for placing Guides (who can teleport you to any shrine you've visited before).

They were onto some cool shit with in game Krosmaster connectivity. It was fucking brilliant that you could unlock characters by playing the MMO. If they allowed you to bet Kamas and get special gear from winning challenges, it would have been even better.

Now that they've got Krosmaga, it feels like something that would be fucking perfect to integrate into their games. Farm cards from certain dungeons and then take those cards and challenge people to a match right from the MMO client. Too bad they really shit the bed on that one.

Also, Eliotropes simultaneously existing in Wakfu and Dofus should have torn the Krosmos a new asshole, but it didn't. As great as the animated series has been, it's like they can't decide if they want to do anything with the in game lore (which is permafucked because half their standalone games can't be played anymore) because of the MMOs, or if they actually want to tell a developing story through the comics and tv shows.
