I always like how some Pokemon maps looked in-game, I like the sort-or "Subway-route" look they have for the road and town markers

Also fun fact; the fanmade Pokemon World Map from Serebii.net made it into Pokemon ORAS as a little easter egg/shout out to the fans

Seriously, like 70 percent is ocean and 30 percent is desert, and only like 10 percent of that desert has anything interesting on it

KILL YOURSELF

your map looks like the thighs of a landwhale

...

This seems as good a time as any to ask: is Russia an Asian country or a European one?

Your map makes Alaska look larger than the entire rest of the United States. Fuck off with your state inflation fetish.

Both.

The way FE4's maps are all to scale with each other and perfectly match the cartography of the world is really impressive. It makes the game feel like an actual journey and makes it far less abstract. It also makes revisiting them in the second generation stand out more.

I just wish I could find a full map of Filgaia from WA1 done in the game engine, not just the cartographical map.

...

...

Its in both Europe and Asia, Russia is kind of fucking huge

Alaska is the largest state, yes, it is larger than Texas

And in the Mercator projection, it looks larger than every single other state combined. Mercatorfags are just thiccfags trying to make the biggest state even bigger to satisfy their fetish for absurdly massive tracts of land.

Is USA Florida country or an Alaska one?

Do you have any idea how autistic you sound? And I'm not making a comment for or against mercator or any other map shit. Just goddamn you just sound so fucking autistic I feel I should mercy kill you before your autism makes you do something so autistic to someone else that they kill you.

no, it's just we want our map to be square without the retarded bullshit you use.

That being said, the only good map of the world is on a globus

Holla Forums is full of plebs

...

It makes Alaska too big and doesn't accurately display Santa.

Antarctica, fuck I am retarted.

Yes you are, because the North Pole isn't in Antarctica either, its in the Arctic

The fuck would Santa do on antarctica.

r8 my map

In the north you ignorant fuck.

...

What

Are you fucking stupid? Santa doesn't live in Antarctica. He lives in the hearts of children, which mass in the Artic Ocean due to ocean currents.

Okay, square one. Was alaska the typo, or santa the typo.

...

Looks like shit. Is it supposed to be a cave? Cause caves aren't just singular lines. Maybe it could be passed off as a tunnel, maybe. Also, why is that last bit of cavern not connected?

Alaska, how could you mistake Santa for anyone? Except Odin, I guess.

it looks like shit, but it has potential

What is that shit at the very top left? I don't recognise it at all.

...

How can anyone mistake Alaska for Antarctica?

...

Cold places that begin with A.

...

Indisputably European. The eastern most border of continental Europe is the Urals and the Ural River, which encompasses the vast majority of the Russian population (something like 4/5). Furthermore, Russia developed as a state and culture within that boundary and only later expanded into Asian territory.

...

Robinson or get the fuck out.

they added a new continent to the game called Zeah, its kinda sucky right now

Now lets be fair fam, 90 percent of what they teach you in the modern schools of fantasy cartography comes from Tolkienism

oh yeah? i thought that didnt get voted in though.

...

There's the map of Zelda Wind Wanker
Why don't you learn how to make fantasy maps yourself user?

It's not enough to make a map, you have to make a game/story around it.

Not always, there's a community of people who make fantasy maps just for the maps themselves. Cartography is, after all, an art in its own right

...

That's realistic fiction.

even if this game had EO's map system you would eventually ran out of map symbols

You have European Russia, which is the East, and the rest is basically Mongolia under a different name.

The worst part is: to fill the map, you need to step into every square.

S'okay.

What's it for?

you think i don't know that? delphinus was bullshit enough to fill up with all the "treadmill" floors

I don't know what you know, man. If I recall correctly, in EO2 and 3 you do actually need more than the required amount of symbols for the post-game floors' warp maps and pitfalls.

What game map do you wish existed in real life Holla Forums? Keep in mind this would just be the terrain/nature and nothing else.

Anvil of Dawn had some of the best map design I've seen in any RPG. The button for editing map notes in the bottom right is a testament to that; how amazing does a dev team need to think their maps are to add one of those in? Please also note the print button, because they knew that as soon as you explore every square, you're framing this masterpiece on your wall.

Now look at the world map. A couple hours into the game, when you step into the overworld for the first time and click the map button, this is what you'll be greeted with.

...

This was a good map.

Fuck GW2.

Mountain chains with ridges, tributaries that actually follow elevation to form rivers that flow into the sea, and maybe even rain shadows. Otherwise, it's bland and featureless with inconsistent font.

I give it a 7/10.

You're wrong, retard. Go read Wizard of Earthsea.

I'm honestly trying to piece together how this planet would function. For one, you have a lot less water along the equator to take in solar energy and move it poleward, plus the ocean basins aren't even connected.

...

Some gorgeous maps in here. I wish game worlds where as big and realisized as the maps are in here sometimes, but then the bigger the map is the more problems it has getting good design down, cause after all, its harder to design a big space.

I don't have much to add to this thread, just stealing some sick maps, but check my sweet
dubs

...

Squarefags and thiccfags go home, best projection is Equirectangular Plate Carrée. It does it all, and it does it all well.

Fite me.

I love Arcanum, but I always thought the geographical layout of the world could have been more varied. More peninsulas, more islands, more lakes, etc, would have been good. As it is, the continent looks very blobbish, without many distinctive variations in the land. Obviously a small issue when talking about such a great game, but yeah.

I've been told it's Eurasian. It's culturally closer to Europe. (It helps that most of the population is in the Western half of the country.) However, Russia territorially makes up a good chunk of Asia whereas you generally only see a small fraction of Russia on European maps.
I forget how Europe and Asia are divided off the top of my head. One of my geography teachers insisted that Europe and Asia are part of the Eurasian continent with no proper separation. But at the same time, he insisted Australia was only a country and not a continent. I told him I couldn't find a source on that and he just told me to look harder.

That teacher is retarded. there are 4 conventions for determining the number of continents, all of them teach Australia as a continent, or at least used to, the 7 continent model has taken to calling that "Oceania".

Do you have brain damage user?
Fiction is just a term for any story or setting made up. Even if its 100 percent grounded in reality, if some or all aspects are fabricated it is fiction. It has nothing to do with how "fantastic" a world is. Furthermore, Zelda is far from realistic

If you really want to describe Zelda, I'd describe it as a low fantasy, mainly grounded in a real setting but fantasy phenomenon is either shrouded in legend in the games lore or is uncommon. As opposed to high fantasy like Warcraft and TES

I fucking love maps. I used to love getting adventure/RPG games that had maps with them as a kid. They were the fucking best. Even today a map in a special edition release will often sway me to spend the extra dollars. I was probably a cartographer in a past life or something.

Anyway, this is my favourite map detail of all time.

Not vidya, but a map I made of a Martian colony for the novel I'm working on.

Your teacher is correct, in a way. Oceania encompasses not just Australia, but also new Zealand and all the islands around, so saying just Australia is wrong. As for Europe and Asia, the border between them had been merely agreed on (along rivers and mountain ranges) rather than being determined by geology. That being said, a massive part of Russia is in Europe. Sure, not as big as Siberia, but still fucking massive

In europe we're taught it's either half europe, half asian, or eurasia

...

It's pretty amazing how small it is.

...

What a great pastiche of Holla Forums

aussies deserved it

Culturally european, geographically eurasian because
it takes up roguhly 1/6th of dry earth surface

This is pretty cool for making maps
have to create a gay account I think

Slavic/10

Any other good map making website/software?

Paint

A novel about an early modern, magic-less fire-worshipping civilization invading the land in pic related, which is iron age in tech but has ancient magic-powered super robots. Basically, imagine a 1910's Roman Empire that coalesced around a cult of merged Vulcan and Mars, invading a pagan Slavic reigon with Gurren-Lagann-tier mechs.

Well it's not finished yet, I still need to draw in forests and other features and type out city and town names in a real font rather than scribbled with my pen.
