Dev's neglection of their community

So i just realized SFM animators are still a thing apparently, but for whatever reason it only makes me more mad at Valve for neglecting the community that had kept them alive for these years, I mean jesus fuck my hate for them just keeps piling on ever since they did that shitty updates for tf2 and the next level of jewery that is PAID SPRAYS
I mean look at this shit that the community managed to shit out, heck you know what? the only time Valve even glances at the community is when they do something that Valve can monetize their grubby hands on and even then it's just fucking cosmetics and shit events because of how lazy Valve has become. The community needs to wake up but you know the answer to that right? they wont

Is there any cases of this happening that i have not noticed yet? I know all of the current big name devs are just a bunch of lackeys to their publishers but has cases where a somewhat moderate sized dev team just ignored what have the community brough? And i do know that ignoring people sometimes makes thing better

user you said it yourself, ignoring it makes it better. Unless the community has some reasonable input on gameplay, they should be ignored. When devs acknowledge the fanbase's creativity and memes, it dilutes their own work and make them lazy. Just look at the end of the line update and how much of a shit show that was.

fashion allowed?

I'm just sad at how big of a wasted potential the SFM is. Its AFAIK the only realtime computer animation software. Wasn't Valve going to promote it to Hollywood people or something? Its an incredibly powerful tool

Either way, without it 99.9 percent of 3D CGI porn would not exist, so its had a profound impact on the internet either way

...

what are those accessories called

my pyro is similar, phononaut, special eyes (bored), and air raider

thanks for sharing this video, OP.

...

The creator makes some good shit and kinda rare to see 60fps animations

Maybe for animated CGI porn. There was XnaPosingStudio/XNALara and Blender communities on deviantart before SFM and tumblr came around. Actually MMD was pretty big for awhile as well so animated CGI porn was around back then as well.

All SFM did was lower the bar for good looking animation, 99.9% of what is made with it is garbage. The few that do make good stuff were already experienced 3d artists.

I still remember gmod porn on rule 34

...

Trump pretty much blew her out of the water in the second presidential debate, of course the (((media))) always biased towards shillary so you know how that goes, requesting THE webm if anyone got it

just look at Mafia 3

Stop being delusional, it will still exist just with shittier industry that is all

Is this the one?

Yeah that one
im on phone so can't post it
Thanks user

Hell yeah, gmod made my dick autistic for years.

This guy's got a point. I still say the downfall of TF2's design was due to the Steam workshop. A cohesive visual element is pretty hard to do when managing a team, nigh impossible when nearly everyone can have their input.

You do know that you're basically meming yourself into these realities, while everyone else believing otherwise goes into their own. Right?

Nothing feels better than seeing a media shill get out voiced by the people.

The lack of regulation was the biggest mistake. Not only having everyone create content that clearly doesn't fit the style, you also have the promotional tie-ins from other games that use TF2 as a marketing proxy, further polluting the game's artstyle and turning it more into a huge clusterfuck.

The biggest tragedy is the comparisons made between the Valve that originally made TF2 and the Current Year Valve. All the big talk about a coherent game design that focuses on sillouettes, outlines and unique models to make for a coherent gameplay experience that meshes both gameplay and artstyle got replaced by a conformist mindset of "why give a fuck if it makes me money, it's just le two doller amirite? xD". Sure, you can say that the sentiment of not giving a fuck if it makes you money makes sense, but it sure as hell looks bad on a company that prides itself on utilizing coherent, cohesive gameplay and design as means to create games.

that fucking image triggers my bolter

It was a shame. Listening to those TF2 developers talk about how design is what made me interested in video game design. I never noticed how intentional everything was, how each class and weapon was designed in a very specific way so I can tell what's going on in a second.

And now that's ruined because everyone is wearing bright pink sunglasses and top hats with flaming skulls swirling around it.

Only they do. Only the original code was made by Hidden Path, every update since was made by Valve.

gas the blus, gravel war now

thanks for wearing the hat i made, buddy

your hat is shit
I hope you die lol

most of those are halloween or promotional though

we all know promotional items follow no rules

I wish Valve accepted my Dota 2 emoticons. They were really popular.

I have my own easy way to make money you Jew.
DOUBLE JEW

What is it, then?

I'm a baker.
There's shockingly good money in it depending where you live. The most I've ever made was £600/hour

to sell his body

...

A friend simply told me they added the option to the workshop and I can do pixel art well, so I gave it a try. Turns out Valve forgot they even added the option, so nothing came of it.
I don't play the game.

Baking is good shit. The private shops here are starting to die out in favor of corporate ones unfortunately.

I'd never go into a profession like that, it repulses me.
I'd be shit at it anyway, I'm still a virgin.

Holy fuck, that's like $730.
I don't even earn that a week ;_;

Sound familiar?

I told myself I'd finally uninstall if there was no Scream Fortress this year so time to follow through.

Not neglecting your fanbase will take its toll on you, you'll eventually either go into Lovecraftian madness or drink the kool-aid and go into Kotakian mad.

No Halloween update this year?
Oh for crying out loud. Welp I'm uninstalling it as well I was excited for this.

The answer is incredibly simple user, valve allows their devs to jump between projects whenever they want and there is barely any pressure, this means that no one in the office wants to work on the ancient fps shooter with a rancid community and would rather go and work on that fancy new and cool VR tech.

So one guy who actually cares or might not even care is overworked, doesn't get enough support from other devs in the office and is required to keep the money making machine running. Same goes for CS:GO, Valve's devs don't care to innovate or are interested anymore in the game at all and are just working on it to keep the money machine going so they can go work on other projects.

Valve's system works to create devs that are passionate initially about the work they create but leaves no pressure for long term support and ensuring the game's legacy.

They clearly said in the post that they are adding new maps and shit anyway so its not like its just no new update, just no new gamemode

scream fortress gamemodes were always half assed anyways

What would Holla Forums watch?

They're adding new community maps. Remember last year's additions? Absolute dogshit that crams everything in for no reason.

you think the one or two people working on the game overtime are going to do any better?

Not really, but this was the last chance I was willing to give. Even a half assed boss or bumper cars beats the hell out of the worst the community has to offer.

Not all community maps are the worst.

What kind of SFM movie are we talking here?

The ones Valve picks as of late are. End of the Line is hot garbage.

go on, I thought they were pretty alright.

hehe look at Trump's idling, and that fat fuck from behind.
If he gets elected most of the countries from South America will get fucked.
But that's just a theory, a gaping anus theory.

It's either Valve neglecting and ignoring or Blizzard suing you because they got triggered.
