Depends what you want. If you want slightly better performance than consoles then $400 will do, if you want mustardface 4k 144hz you are going to be looking at more like $10,000.

I built for $800 in 2012 and only recently replaced my 670 with a 1070 bringing the total to $1300, with the 1070 I'll be able to get another 3-4 years giving me a total hardware cost of $162-$185 per year.

My soul was crushed when my favorite Wasteland server removed crosshairs for all players recently. Why is this such a trend? I don't remember Arma 2 having that many "crosshairs disabled" servers.

Well it already has a third person mode so obviously not the most realistic game ever. Plus I believe the default setting when making a server is "crosshairs enabled" so I assume that's what the devs intended. And like I said earlier about Arma 2 not having many servers like that… it seemed like the scene got taken over by a bunch of MLG tryhards to be honest.

Just think about the complexity of the game, im not even talking about the amount of gun porn, but the open world and the number of ways you can play it, the amount of dedication and work the devs put into it.

I think that its one of the biggest adventages the PC games have over console plebs is dedicated modding community and devs and the complexity that is simply impossible to achive on consoles

OP if you're bored of project reality try out SQUAD. It's early access but it recently got vehicles rolled out so now it's less like the slowest infantry only match on the planet and more like PR again.
Alternatively if you can find it on sale, rainbow six siege is genuinely fun for some reason, which took me by surprise.

There's also KOTOR 2, which is better in every single way.
There's also New Vegas and Terraria, but if those are too action-oriented for you, then Geneforge 2 came out not even a week after KOTOR. Even within Bioware's games, just go play Ass Effect 1 and Baldur's Gate or something.
KOTOR 1 was totally forgettable and the twist was shit.

Lan parties and local multiplayer (which you can't even argue is a console feature anymore, look aat halo 5) on my pc was my childhood. Yes, pc had local multiplayer, you just had to set up the system to run two versions of the game at once and set up the controller drivers differently, which took around an hour.

That's what the ~ squiggle is for, it's an approximation. The cost of a keyboard and mouse and speakers is really miniscule (you could get all 3 for probably $30), plus, most people already have a keyboard of mouse lying around, and speakers are most likely already built into the monitor.

There really hasn't been anything worth giving the time to play it since stalker call of pripyat, and even that was pretty weak. stalker can run on some really low end machines. don't waste your time with a high end PC, but always build it yourself, saves you a lot of money. It's not hard either.

Planning on a middle range one, just something to be able to play the PC shit I've missed decently. Did consider high end CPU for emu purposes, but was about it.

I made it to a sponsored competitive team in an oldschool FPS mid-2000s with a cheapo default Logitech keyboard and an mx510 (no not mx518.) My PC was awful, too, I played on the lowest settings just because she couldn't run anything higher anyway.

MX Clears and such are neato if you can get them and they suit your preference.

It's not great if you want any degree of customization beyond polling rate and the 3-4 different stock dpi settings. Even if you you're not into ricer shit, keep in mind that there is no way to turn the mouse wheel LED off.
