COD

This is the best anti-piracy method.

And how is this anti-piracy?
Does the Steam 130 GB download faster than the Usenet 130 GB?

Would you download a 130gb game?

Why would anyone pirate COD though?

If I buy it on Steam I would have to download it.
Or how else do I get it onto my hard drive?

I bet you faggots only have one measly little TB hardrive

...

There is no reason that a CoD game needs to be 130 GB, I'm betting there's a shit ton of redundant sound files or something to make it so big.

Sounds like a good anti-purchase method, too.

...

...

How else are they going to make people upgrade to the ProGaymer versions of their consoles?

...

GTA V was 60 gigs repacked to as low as 30, besides thatno one pirates CoD because you can't really play single player.

Can't play multiplayer, sorry.

...

Reminder that New Vegas was a pioneer in this bullshit.

I used to pirate it to play versus bots. they weren't that bad actually.

This just in: People who aren't poor are all jews! Anonymous said so!

Nobody buys CoD for multiplayer.

Not for all games, my copies of JUST Cause 2 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution you could install from disc to Steam.

This is getting fucking ridiculous
why are these games so goddamn big?

Sound files.

The game files were actually on the disc but needed steam to be decrypted. It's funny though since steam updates broke it so you are forced to download it anyhow these days.

You're shitting me right? Everyone buys CoD for MP only, no one cares about the singleplayer.

Make a shit game I don't want? Worked wonders for Gearbox.

They probably wont work anymore since the steam update which broke the new vegas disc installation among others.

CoD sells over 10 million copies on consoles. Only a fraction of those pay for multiplayer access, so they don't care about it.

You just need Xbox Live to play MP, and most people have that.

Ever heard of
REPACKS

Remember goys, this is just 130gb of PRE-SEASON PASS BASE GAME, so expect another 60gb-85gb of uncompressed map packs and zombie DLC :^)

The retard actually believed the normal costumers wouldn't have to download them too!

Many consoles aren't even connected to the Internet.
You simply don't understand, that your little "e-sports" niche is not what CoD is about.
It's produced and sold as interactive movie set-piece rollercoaster to normalfags.
Normalfags don't give a shit about "competitive action" and "matchmaking".
No publisher would waste 60 millions on a singleplayer motion capture production with A-list hollywood actors, if they can just get away with a few MP maps and a zombie mode.

We are nearing the point where gigabits become the new megabits. That or devs forgot how to compress audiofiles.

It's also a great anti-buying-your-shit-game method.

Those are probably already in though.

If they sell it in 12 DVD's, it's fine.

Just look at the e3 gameplay. IW has a shitload of assets.

1. Why would anyone, ever download and play CoD?
2. Unless you use some nigger internet, dowloading 130GB is not that serious.

Have you fags seen the gameplay?
Its Fakefactory tier, no new FX, some new lighting a slightly different reskins/textures.
They even added a "reload" message at the bottom of the screen when you're out of ammo when it doesnt even make sense in the context of this game.
Goddamn son, CoD 4 was still a PC focused title even if it started the consolization trend of the francishe, this is just sad.

...

You wouldn't pirate an HDD

why would you? it's shit

No you faggot, most people buy CoD for the multiplayer you dumbshit.
If normalfags dont like competition or matchmaking then why is shit like ASSFAGGOTS so popular?

Most normalfags buy this shit for the MP and the Zombies.
Only poor kids buy it for the campaign, but thats like 5% of them, most people pay the yearly console internet tax.

Ive seen the most casual of casuals do it, stop talking out of your ass.

I never said anything about esports or competitive you fucking mongoloid, a lot of people play multiplayer video games casually.

I'd rather have Terraria installed 400 times.

Not happening. Game sizes have risen tenfold to hundredfold, bandwidth hasn't.

Did you notice that bandwidth caps have become a thing?
The whole "selling digital content" bubble is going to collapse thanks to ISPs strangling them to death.

Or wait for the pirated version that removes the 40+ languages and can compress the game down to 9gig

Mostly children and Russians.

You're retarded
Every console is connected to the internet nowadays. Every house has a wifi connection for their phones and the console just opens an available networks menu like a phone does when you firts turn it on

Next thing the cuckchan refugee is going to tell us is that most people own a Xbox One.

It only get's better.

I'd love to live wherever you are, user, but in most of Europe getting fibre optic is still unfathomable.

I didn't.
I was never limited in downloading content and I don't care enough for others to notice it.

Where the FUCK do you live?
I live in Estonia, I know 0 people that don't have a internet connection and I'm not even in a rich area.
Granted, no one really has consoles either and PC gaming is by far the largest here.

You have bandwidth caps too. Explicit ones or implicit ones.

That's not the problem, the problem is that it takes for fucking ever to download 130 GB unless you have a 1000MB/s internet.

I want you to answer how if people mainly buy COD for the singleplayer, then why the fuck does absolutely nobody talk about the it aside from the memes like the dog and press f to pay respects.

...

Move out of central africa

A shitton of manchildren and minorities from developed western countries buy and play this garbage franchise.
They're the majority of players and they play online

Please consider suicide

Oh boy.

Okay, I'll be sure to immigrate to your country

Heil and yes, I'm impressed how much more efficient pirates are.

And where are you from where having a wi-fi connection at home is uncommon, Uganda?

How old are you, OP?

Now I know you're baiting
Go back to >>>/cuckchan/ theyll like your shitposting there.

Manchildren is what you meet in online games and from there results your skewed worldview
Nope. The major audience of AAA productions like Call of Duty are regular normal people.
No $100m franchise can survive solely off vidya manchildren and nigger kids.

Your Internet uplink is paid by somebody else, so you're nice to NATO and mad at Russia. That's a fact, butthurt belt.

It's a shame Captain Price was executed at the end of CoD4.

Heres your reply

I still want to know how did Russia attack the West coast of the US with no possible method.

100TB 2 hour campaign with uncompressed sounds that are never reused(captured from a REAL reinactment of a battlefield) when?

I feel bad for 'mericans, you invent the interwebs then get fucked over by ISPs and your corrupt government.
My biggest month was 2.4TB, didn't even get an e-mail about "fair usage"

The problem starts at even wanting to download a COD game.
Even IF that is a possibility I would much rather go for torrenting it a year later when all the shit is fixed.
Can you even begin to imagine how much bugs will be in a rushed title that's bloated like that? I don't even want to imagine the nightmare of downloading this legaly on steam at release when every 12 year old is rushing the servers.
This company is begging for bankrupcy.

I have 17.5 TB storage across 12 external drives
They are all full and I need more

What is it? I get that if it's work stuff you might need to keep it but outside of that I don't get keeping everything you download. If I decide I want to watch a series / movie again I just re-download it.

How do you even know what is on them? TV shows? I can understand if you work with something requiring data, but 17TB of space is something I can't see any private person needing.

I wanted to make a joke about the FLAC meme, but meh.

...

Why would anyone purchase a game thats 130 GB in size?

almost 10 years ago I was having this conversation with my friend (when I was buying my pc) who told me that 160 gb is way too much and I will never be able to fill it.

Guys i've got an idea to stop piracy forever
Let's make all our games
like

5 tb
like every game is 5tb

actually let's make every game 500 tb
that way they'll be impossible to pirate
trust me, we're gonna make so much money

You haven't been playing vidya long have you? The first games I played were 1 to 10mb, now they are 1 to 20gb, I suspect in another 20 years they will be 1 to 20tb.

BRILLIANT
POORFAGS BTFO

...

Almost 10 years ago that conversation was also relevant. Well semi-relevant since I'm pretty sure 200gb drives were common then and file sizes for media files haven't really changed unless you download the ULTRA SUPER HD version that looks identical to the 700mb .avi files we used to watch.

Be careful with that meme magic you wield.

I have a ton of shows and movies but what really takes up all the room are all the games. I have just about every game for every system (up to the PS2/GC/xbox/dreamcast generation) and every PC game up to 2012.

If shit ever goes down I know I'll have a backup of history.

I have a fair few old mods which aren't hosted anywhere since filefront/gamefront is kill.

...

Why would even people who genuinely enjoy CoD pirate any of the games in the series before Modern Warfare? Multiplayer is about the only selling point for the series.

Why?

The rest I can understand to some extent. Especially console games since consoles are going to become harder and harder to find. But why would you ever keep shows and movies? How often do you really want to watch them?

Oh I know that eventually we'll have games that are 12PB in size, but right now how people do you know that has the hard drive space to install 10 130GB games plus any photos files or whatever else they might have?

I wonder how long the loading times are going to be on consoles with their mechanical drives.

Just about every gaymer I know has a couple of TB storage, that said I'm in my 30's so all of us have money to spend on our hobbies.
I have a 250gb SSD and 2tb HDD in my gaymenPC and my torrent NUC has another 6tb

>x hard drive is way too much and I will never be able to fill it.

why do you have an SSD? It feels like a waste of money to me. those 2 sec in loading screen won't really do any difference.

It doesn't make much difference to boot time but game loading times are generally halved, sadly I have to pick and choose which games get the SSD so I'm looking at getting a second one soon.

...

Are you a normalfag?

...

Mate, COD's online playerbase is 95% normalfag casuals that just want to shit talk and beat strangers on the internet at something.

Biggest benefit for an SSD is having your OS on it, off the top of my head, then using the rest of the space for anything you won't write to very often if at all like vibeo gaens and video files.

Well good thing that there is barely any games worth playing that are over 15 GB.

This is a kick in the dick to users who can't afford high internet speed.

If this is how bad games have gotten now, how bad are they going to be from here on out in terms of file sizes?

When this comes out, i just hope a massive change in the way we create games.

Just another thing that may lead to this one bombing so hard that Activision release the COD4 remake by itself to recoup some lost funds

Didn't this game come out like two years ago or something?

Or am I getting old?

ABSOLUTE MADMEN

I see this being mentioned as being a good piracy deterrent now and then.. but wouldn't paying customers have to download that entire 130GB too? I sure as shit don't see them putting 28 DVDs in a physical box (because that's how many standard 4.7GB DVDs it would take and I don't think I've ever seen a PC game sold on BluRay rather than DVD) and even if we're talking about the console versions (assuming they even support dual-layer BluRay to begin with) that's still 3 discs at minimum. Even after all of that, someone like me isn't really going to bat an eyelid at a 130GB download so that alone wouldn't stop me from pirating it, assuming it wasn't CoD.

Hell I'm surprised the physical market for PC games is still around honestly. I haven't even had any kind of optical drive in my PC for around 5 years. If I need to back up something externally I just use a cheap flash drive (which usually holds more and is faster, and USB2.0 or higher is ubiquitous these days anyway), but even that's rare.

No, it was the other one.

I have downloaded several megapacks that are bigger than that, if people really want to play a game they will pirate it. Remy LaCroix megapack was 334gb and I got a shitload of other packs over 100gb. It is definitely pirateable.

I think the more important question is if it's worth it. I honestly wouldn't even play CoD if it was free.

Sauce?

Here in Germany it is not that bad. Got 50mb download speed and it doesn't slow down at all for me. Other isp's are trying to bring in data caps but we are not there yet.

It's a russian private tracker, you wouldn't manage to get inside anyway.

Why not? Deluge downloads seamlessly in the background just like Steam.

I'm a pirate who torrents large files all the time. Provided it has enough quality seeders it's not a problem at all.

If it was very good, yes. But I'd be buying it then, too.

...

One bit at the time

Oh man, what song could this be?

...

Si.

As someone who has pre-purchased IW Legacy Edition, i can report that on PS4, MW:R is 46 GB, leaving IW at around 80-90 GB.

My country has never had datacaps. Not even in the nineties.

Dutch people became huge pirates because of this. As early as 2003 I was downloading DVD rips.

Us Dutch folk will forever rule the seas

I never had datacaps either. I only recently got fast internet because this shit here gets hardly upgraded but my internet speed got never capped because of all the shit I have pirated.

idk why isp's are trying to push this lately and why nobody speaks up.

...

90% uncompressed .wav audio files, no doubt. And they wonder why people pirate.

Only CoD game what i played was first one. Did i miss something?

With the way Europe is going, the seas will be the only place where you'll be safe.

NETHERLANDER! HAVE YOU KILLED ANY SPANISH FAGGOTS TODAY?

wew

B-but we wuz the empire where the sun never sets

That's the britroaches.

Nah, horus did nothing wrong.

What? That's what they called it during Felipe II's reign

Also, on the thread's topic: It really must be an anti piracy method I dont understand what else those extra gbs are used for. A friend forced me to download black ops 2 on one of those free steam weekends, I think the game was 30 gb and it looked like 2011 graphics

Yeah you missed the second one

lel, you got that part right, he was a puppet and succeeded beautifully.

Who the fuck are you… Noah?

Be glad there are people like him. He could become the next Saint Leibowitz when the HAPPENING comes around.

Yeah but does he have Xevious for the Atari 7800? Without that, it'll all be for nothing.

REMOVE SPIC

I will be compressed into one or two Blurays and extracted to the hardware.
A DVD can have almost 9 GB, so four two five DVD9 = one BD50.

Making your game so shit and overdone that people with more than one braincell dont give a single fuck about it?

come on nigga

...

...

in a couple weeks pirates will have a repack without the uncompressed pre rendered cutscenes

Not defended cod and I know this storage size is ridiculous, but come on.

With my old 800kbit/s connection i would never download that.
But with my new 100Mbit/s connection it would only take around 3 hours so yeah no problem here.
But who wants to download this piece of shit anyway? I stick with COD 2/4 for LAN Partys.

Theres already a solution you faggot, its called PHYSICAL RELEASE.

PCfag BTFO, where is your savior now?

you don't give them the links, when you give them the link they complain about the website being Russian and them having to register for a account.

You always tell them that they can't get inside anyway. This triggers people and causes them to do the work themselves in order to prove that they are not retarded.

...

So, is Infinity Warfare coming with every COD game ever made packaged in?

Look at it this way.

Halo MCC with 2 remastered Halo's featuring simultaneous renders of both old and new graphics plus improved and original cutscenes, Halo 3, ODST, and 4 with all the multiplayer features, 3 different forge modes, theater, multiple patches, improved resolutions and framerates only reaches 71GBs.

Activision is fucking retarded.

I don´t really mind. I leave it downloading while I do other things. If it´s free, it's fine. I feel bad for buyfags, but they're buyfags so they deserve shit.

I bet it's some redundant shit being crammed into the disc to bloat the file size like how they made an entire over-tessellated can't-be-seen-but-still-rendered ocean with Crysis 2 to intentionally fuck up the performance.

Say what now?

What? The thing about Crysis 2?
Basically the dev used tessellation on every fucking thing, from the wooden board to the little fence, everything. Every single map has an ocean under it that cannot be seen but still rendered, and it's tessellated to hell and back as well, which makes the game run worse than it should.

I only ever needed 86gb, fite me.

Wasn't that also so Nvidia cards would perform better with it than AMD ones since Nvidia can handle tessellation better?

Who wouldn't?

130GB / 60mbps = 4.8 hours
that sure took forever

National average is far below that. You need to be a good goy and get Google/NSA fiber or some other alphabet agency backed telecom shit.

Not if it was Call of Duty.

Nigger I'm rocking a whole 16 KB/s, 130 GB would take 130 days. National average for USA is probably around 300-500 KB/s. 500 KB/s would still take four days of uninterrupted time, 300 KB/s would take close to seven.

nat avg for US is 12.5
Thats around 21 hours

Do you have anyone mail you usb sticks or hard drives?

One guy mailed me the near-entirety of Jojo's 2012 anime adaptation because I refused to watch it on account of the download times

Nice. I imagine with the appropriate arrangements you could get cheaper rates once 1TB SD cards get cheap.

It only has 912 GB, not even a full TB. The guy at the store said it had a full TB hard drive. Also, it has Windows 10. When I asked the guy at the store about the spyware, the guy said I could just delete it/turn it off.

Son of a bitch. Is there any way to mitigate that, or will it still fuck modern cards?

my heaviest game i think was AA2 or CM3D2

Yeah, but Halo 5 alone is 89GB.

Bitch even third world shitholes have fiber by now. I live in rural mexico and get 30mb internet for $25 a month

I'm sorry, that kind of terrorism should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. Jojo's a terrible series and I hope you and your family are better now.

This guy gets it. Nobody pirates CoD

because you don't get multiplayer

That's with all the free updates. It was originally 55GB but all the multiplayer maps and modes bumped it up to 89. CoD IW doesn't even have any of the fucking DLC released and it's STILL 130GBS.

I liked it quite a lot but the stupid bastard forgot to dump about five episodes into Battle Tendency's folder leaving me stuck at a cliffhanger just before Joseph fights Wamuu Also the weeb insisted giving me subs and not dubs, even with the dub being of questionable quality with Nero's voice for Jonathan

       ∧_∧  ∩ >ITT: poor fags that can't afford more storage       ( Jew )// I bet you faggots only have one measly little TB hardrive      /      ノ  _ _ | .|     | __     \   ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄   \  ||\            \  ||\|| ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄|| ̄   .  || ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄ ̄||

Just got another 2tb drive so I *could* download this but it's CoD so what's the point? The games practically play themselves and I don't care about MP especially CoD MP as it's like having cancer forced into your ears.

What's the protagonist this time? I genuinely have no idea, these are my guesses:

Indistinct slavic national
Not too overtly obviously muslim, different hat.
South American despot
THE MAN
Central Korea

All the same yes it's stupidly big for what it's going to be, I could understand if they were modelling the planet or doing tons of different crowd audio for an RPG but obviously that's not what they're doing.

holy shit is it on a DVD

holy shit some one should put out a game on a floppy that has the steam installer on it

There will be a

It's set in fucking space and Jon Snow is the baddie?

open wide, faggot

...

You say that as if space was a bad thing.

kill yourself

Doom at 65G was stretching my will to clear HD space and wait. There's no way I'd bother with 130G of a series I don't even like.

Why not just buy a bigger HDD, they're 200$ for 4TB of space, are you a poorfag or using a computer from 2001?

This is what all that marvelous Jewllywood actors marvelous and uncompressed voiceover does.

This really is the best anti-piracy method. Just make your game so shitty people that even someone that could play it for free has no interest in it.

But what's weird is, most flak comes from Battlefield fans. Last time I played a Battlefield, it followed the SAME shitty "console-style cinematic military fps" formula, it's not any fucking better.

Not exactly what I'd call surprising.

so was your mother

Best anti-piracy method by far.

Fucking hell, user, you fail even at being weeb. Is there anything you do right?

If it was an Everquest game maybe

but 2 was shit, and next was bought out and sold off

So why did 2 suck?

...

Cuckland is not most of Europe. Glorious slavcountries have enjoyed fast internet for a decade now, and we're moving into FTTH with no caps for monthly prices of a McDonalds meal.

No, I wouldn't buy one either.

The 130 GB covers both Infinite Warfare and Modern Warfare plus extra maps bruh, not that absurd really. Goddamn Holla Forums is stupid.

It is when you realize most console HDDs are around 500gb just recently getting to 1TB. People on PC don't play CoD so that isn't relevant.

I still don't understand how it happened that the poorest parts of Europe have the best internet connection, whilst in the richest parts the ISPs shaft their customers.

this nigga serious?

niggers would steal the copper infrastructure so the benevolent government built a fiber one instead

The point is, 130 GB covers BOTH games and DLC, so that would make each game around 50 GB. And I played WaW and Black Ops on PC.

this nigga is really serious isn't he?

Dude whatchu trying to say? Why do you call me a nigger?

Stop. I'm sad enough about the state of this board as it is.

Its because when you are ruled by commie scum (France, Germany, England, Sweden, etc.) then those commies are working to destroy the country and its people. They hate the population and want to see them murdered by shitskins.

Never let commies touch anything. It always turns to shit.

Good job playing the worst FPS series on a platform where you have better choices.
Remastered is believed to be ~40GB while Infinite is mathed to be 90GB. Do you think CoD has ever had good textures? Do you think CoD has EVER had textures that require 90GB to display well? If you answer yes to either of those questions I'd like you to go kill yourself.

Infinite Warfare's space dogfights look like it's worth the extra textures.

...

Literally just a little more than 3 hours, if the seeders can keep up. The only good thing about living in a big city in comparison to a small comfy village.

it hurts to live

Everything would indicate that the torrent would finish many times faster than the Steam download actually.

...

disgustingh tbh

Well in America's case it is easy:

Burgers HATE taxes. Every election politicians have to promise lower taxes.

Good infrastructure costs money. Countries like Singapore, South Korea and the Netherlands invest in telecommunication by the billions. But America doesn't need that shit because freedom and eagles and shit.

Amazingly Silicon valley is inventing all sorts of new cool stuff that the ISPs in the US can't deliver.

True, but it works even better if you make your game shit. Then pirates won't see the point in downloading 40 GB just so they can uninstall after an hour

Probably the most pirated game in history
And they're all hues and cheekibreekis

Pre-rendered cutscenes? What is this, 1993? Get with the times grandpa, the new hotness is having uncompressed audio for every single localization! Y'gotta let those people with shitty CPUs be able to play the game without needing to decompress the sounds!
I shit you not, that's the reason for most of the insanely bloated filesizes these days. As someone who spent the last seven years on a fucking late-2000s Pentium, I have NEVER had that issue.

that's mainly for consolefags since consoles are so shit now they're desperate to free every single cpu cycle and with the least effort possible

Doesn't excuse the fact that they also include the audio for every fucking localization in the install, too. They should just do what some chink games do and have the language options be a free DLC and/or a checklist on the installer.

They're inventing fuck all, and ISPs have ZERO incentive to improve end-user service. Fuck, my connection was faster and cheaper on the SAME ISP in the SAME CITY, SIXTEEN YEARS AGO. That's some concentrated fuckery right there.

Optimization is dying on all fronts. Too many fucking retards fucking their way into tech companies and dumbing everything down at every level.

Maybe for Americans and their 3rd world internet.
Best anti-piracy method is making shit games and that's what pretty much everyone's been doing.

Romania invested TONS in fibre lines all over the country and have the fastest internet in Europe. The only result is hackers and camwhores.

I fail to see the problem.

I didn't say it was a prolbem. I just said that's what happens when you give third world countries access to high speed internet.

Friendly reminder that pubs/devs have been inflating game sizes since what, CDs?

That might make sense if telecoms were state owned but they aren't. In fact, our governments have spent the last 30 years divesting themselves of assets and putting them into private ownership. You're right that our governments hate us though.

Skyrim Enhanced™ will be 500 petabytes

It's so that you can buy all of the mods.

Yeah.

...

No, I swear to god.

Haha I get it, you are just so excited for the skyrim remaster you just couldnt help yourself. Its completely understandable

Thank you, John Smith.

...

stop harassing me

Well I'm enjoying streaming 4K Netflix. Just because I can.

People in my country pirated so much that Hollywood begged Netflix to set up here. Using the internet for piracy, hacking and (illegal)porn is a feature not a bug.

same shit here

...

Feel with me, brother.

By the way, tried p99?

My bad, ignore the link.

what link

I linked to a different thread on accident, tend to do that on mobile

...

The best anti-piracy method is to make good games.

If you make a good game, I'll buy it. If your game is shit, I might pirate it, unless it's so bad that I don't even want to play.

Give me a torrent please

is that a rhetorical questions? you goys are bigger cucks than the french

Which is gayer, user?

dohohoh…

Holy shit, I think this guy is on to something.

...

Are you suggesting there is any provider in the USA, from fiber to 56k (or even bongo drums) that is not NSA tapped?

Not that I suggest you should get google fiber, but there is no internet connection in the US that is LESS NSA tapped than any other.

As somebody who was excited about next. I doubt its production was stopped because SOE got sold. Yeah, the reduction in crew didn't do it any good, but it wouldn't have worked either. Some parts in it would have, but the combat would have needed huge changes to be anywhere near functional and fun.

I find it really sad that Next was stopped, if only because it would have brought some fresh things to the MMO genre, but anybody who tried landmark understands that the combat would never work well.

But worst of all, the short stories stopped.

One major reason is that many of the poor countries were just late to the party. The other countries rolled out a big network years ago and that infrastructure is getting fully outdated now. The costs for new infrastructure are enourmous. Not to say the ISPs can't carry that cost because they fucking can, but until they are forced by competition or whatever they will not.

...

how is kansas city?

It's not the installer, just the downloader. Steam itself weighs over 300 MB.

Why spend money for storing shitty unoptimized games?

Terrible, don't come here. It's not worth Google botnet.

and/or

Yeah, no thanks.

Well IMO the internet is critical infrastructure necessary for a healthy economy and benefits everyone.

Clean drinking water and electricity is regulated and payed for with tax payer money, maybe the government could help out with laying some goddamned fibre. Because Comcast sure as hell won't.

Kansas city: fiber-optic
NYC: copper

Shit is fucked up.

To be fair, USA is yuge while the Netherlands is tiny - it's piss easy to come up with a plan for better infrastructure in small countries, so I don't envy burger's struggle to provide high-speed internet to all the literally fucking nowhere places all at once.

is to make a game worth buying.

lurk moar, newfag

Why not just start with the places that matter? Nobody gives a shit about Louisiana or Kentucky.

Just roll out fiber-optic in the cities. The east coast is densely populated enough.

Nah, it's making a game not worth even pirating.

Do you have autism?

...

There's already a new male sky thread

Google's been trying in metro areas.

It's the idea that fiber is cheap as shit to make (cheaper than metal wires), but no one wants to foot the bill to lay them underground, so they stick to the old copper laid down 60 years ago.

politics, having to connect one area to another, different contractors, it never gets done. Small countries have the luxury of planning infrastructure upgrades for the whole country at once.

Sure, but how can you make money off of that if people don't even want it for free? There are only a handful of No Man's Sky's where the devs actually make money.

How in gods fucking name is a COD game 130gbs?

Shit compression, mocap and bloat done on purpose.

How about also making it more convienient for the customer than the alternative? DRM is a detriment for legal owners. The idea that you could get a game without having to search sometimes fickle torrent sites, worrying if the patches work or up-to-date, or all that compared to an easy speedy access point or physical so you actually have something and don't have to download GBs of bullshit.

Physical disc

Oh wait, PC fags killed it

would it be too hard to replace discs with usbs? they are dirt cheap nowadays

compared to discs flash memory isnt cheap at all
what the fuck

...

In case of slav countries? No bullshit regulations causing the rise of comcast-tier subsidized monopoly. You always have a choice of at least two major ISPs and three or four local small-scale ones.

...

Enjoy downloading game's entire size worth of patches each time you install the thing. Also enjoy paying out of your ass for blu-ray because dvd is considered a dead meme thanks to consoles and nobody's dropping the prices for BD drives because shekels.
Also enjoy losing or damaging the disc by a complete accident which isn't covered by any warranty and fucks you out of money.

...

Nah just ordered a 64Gb flash drive: 30 euro.

Sure it isn't a knock off Chinese brand but flash memory is still a LOT more expensive than a bluray.

UNDERAGED B&

What the hell is that?

World at War was pretty good.

Do you still using VHS to watch movies, user?

I think the argument here is would you download a 130GB game? what game is it is irrelevant. Games are getting bigger each generation.

I'm using internet and blu-ray for that. Sadly, DVD looks like fucking ass 99% of time on a high definition 120cm diagonal screen.

It is only expensive in the West because of shit like it being an obligation by law that the wires are underground, making it impossible for people to start their own ISP or at least act as a middleman that can ensure cheaper prices for the same speeds. It is how Eastern European countries can have hundreds of different providers, while the US has only like three or four. The "late to the party" garbage is bullshit because that doesn't explain how Eastern Europe can get way faster internet than India and Brazil or parts of Africa that have only recently gotten access to internet.
In other words, the free market fixed it

Allow the player to download and install only the multiplayer component if they choose. Problem solved.

If you're playing the campaign you probably bought it on disc for your console.

Haha fuck. Well if they make the multiplayer installable only then everyone will be happy.

Ask the consumers that.

Except people that buy it will be in the exact same situation as the pirates, especially since physical copies are going the way of the dodo.

Doesn't bother me though, I have 500Mbps with no caps. Not that I'd waste the time downloading this turd anyway.

Although regulations are a part of why competition is failing in the ISP domain, it is not the only reason. You have to remember that you have to connect to one of the major ISPs at some point, if you don't, you basically have a big lan. So big ISPs will also bully anybody trying to make a small, competing ISP as much as possible. Some regulations also aren't bad, but every now and then, some are designed specifically to benefit a certain group of people. Underground wires are a lot better for most people compared to above ground. As long as the license to dig up the ground and put a wire there is either held by a third party or the smaller ISP can get it themselves without too much difficulty, there is no problem for the competition here. It will cost a bit more when starting your ISP, but that cost also exists for the other ISPs, so its no real problem for competition.

To compare to things like brazil or india, one of the reasons is likely higher pressure from neighbours for better infrastructure (european union is far from perfect, but it does at least try to force some minimum infrastructure) as well as in some cases less corrupt/difficult and a bit more money. India for example is fucking poor as shit in most places.

That is what I meant by having a middleman, the way people can and do afford to have so many providers is by having a shitload of LANs, although some do in fact try to be their own ISP, most go the LAN route and manage to negotiate pretty damn cheap prices for the service you are getting.
Over here it's perfectly fine, wires being permitted above the ground doesn't instantly mean the country turns into China where you can't walk anywhere without touching a live wire. In most cases the wires are too high for someone to actually run into them without trying to find a ladder and a pair of wirecutters.
Except that's wrong, the license isn't the issue in the slightest, it is the fact that it artificially inflates the price of providing internet since you can't do the simple thing and just have a wire nobody can reach, you have to needlessly spend time and effort along with resources to dig a hole in the ground. If power lines that can kill a person on contact are considered safe when put that high then I see no issue with doing the same for communications.
Yeah but you would expect extremely good connections from places that are rich, but you don't get that. A lot of the rich areas too have shit internet, not just the poorer ones.

would you eat 130 pounds of shit?

im not so sure about that one. why would they push the latest graphics cards but try to cut back on cpu requirements?

I think you are misunderstanding some of the things I say. I am saying that small ISPs will always have to connect to some bigger one if they want to be part of the internet. That tends to be very expensive, generally more expensive than it probably should be. If you don't connect to the bigger ISPs, especially in the US, you will not be part of the internet, you will just have your own lan. If you do connect, it tends to be very expensive. Most smaller USP ISPs are also wireless carriers, they have big antennas and provide connection that way. Bigger ISPs don't really care too much about those because they usually service areas that are not worth the trouble anyway.

The extra cost for digging in wires is also pretty low over the many years of service that a wire will generally do. It shouldn't be a problem for most minor ISPs and especially for the bigger ones it doesn't matter either. Its because the license to put those wires there (be it above or underground) is tightly controlled by the bigger ISPs that you can't compete, not because of the cost of underground wires, which, while large, isn't an impossible obstacle.

I doubt about india that the very rich spots don't have great internet. A quick lookup seems to show that there are ISPs delivering gigabit and 100mbit isn't too rare.
