My problem with blender is how the UI follows no standard from any other 3D software, making it very hard to just get used to it.

I haven't done much with blender, but the UI is definitely a nightmare to navigate. I'm constantly forgetting which tab has what settings and which setting I need to set to get a desired backdrop or whatever.
I'm sure if I actually spent some time on it each day I'd eventually get the hang of it.

You think that's bad? Try importing anything made in it to Unity for instance. It uses Z for height so you get your axis fucked and the model weirdly rotated or with a permanent 90º on the X axis.
I always have to get a plugin for Blender called Unity Tools that has only a single button to press that corrects that shit just because that's fucking retarded.

OP, if you re-do this thread, remenber to post the controls for the game on it since they aren't that intuitive.
The "space to go up, crouch to go down" forcing you to press jump to exit crouch is bad but not that bad, however it kinda makes sense in a weird way.
What most people probably won't be expecting is having to press Control twice when facing from a pit to lower themselves.
It's something that's not done very often in this way, usually you just walk the edge and turn around while falling to grab yourself.
I actually like the controls once you get used to them. They aren't the easiest to get into but once you do, you'll move nicely around.

The saving system makes me remenber Enemy Zero, a game where your saves were also limited by a battery on your recorder and on the hardest difficulties even loading the game consumed battery forcing you to re-start if you died too much.
It's a bit of a weird choice considering there seems to be a fair amount of traps ala Dark Souls (you enter a room with someone waiting behind a corner to kill you in one go) but if there are always clues that warn you of danger, I can see the point of it.

I've also seen a "Censor" option in the main menu, what does it do? Change the ID cards to a non-nude version?
Also, do you unlock extra clothes or are those just DLC or similar that you buy and paste in the folder of the game?

Oh come on, it's really not that frequent, just like the save system. Very few games do something like this.

The save system in particular, I guess we got a bit spoiled. It's fun to quicksave before a large hole just to try and jump in case there's something there. Most wouldn't try a lot of weird shit if it meant redoing part of the game.

It's like cheats, it can be used to have some fun but it does make the game too easy if you abuse it.

Yes everything has bones, the mouth was a bit weird though. I think there are constraints on the limbs to keep them from going everywhere when you pose them, so moving the hand in turn moves the arm, bending it at the joint and all, but the same does not apply to the mouth, it will just unhinge. It was also done in a couple minutes.

Probably Inverse Kinematics. It's a thing that Blender has to assist with animating things in a realistic manner.

You might want to check the Bone Weight on those polygons to make sure the mouth is okay. Considering the base model, the creator might not have considered the need to properly animate it like the beak.

If you're the creator however, I know there are some weird quirks there. I once made a simple animation for an arm going down to up (for aiming down a gun depending on where you were looking) and the result was that from down to the middle, it would rotate in a nice straight line, but going from the middle up, the arm would also describe an arc like he was waving to the side for some reason. Even with extra Keys in the middle, it would still always do that.

I just pulled it off sfmlab and used a plugin to import the file to blender, so considering it was meant for sfm I'm sure there's some reworking to be done.

That said, I've tried autokeyframing once and the results were less than spectacular.

The only real thing that took me for a loop for maybe 5 minutes is the crouch to lower yourself down. Which there's a room for in the beginning level to learn so I'm not really thinking I should bother explaining it.

Also the censor option is included for the nude lewd mods. If your nude then the censor puts mosaic around your tits and shit. It's kinda funny.

Just enter Weight Painting mode and right-click on a bone, that will tell you what's connected to.

Don't do that, seriously. It's really not that hard to manually do it since interpolation does most of the job. A basic running animation needs you to set 5 frames only. Once you learn how to do it, you'll get much better results than even SFM and it's very easy to learn that part.

There's no button prompt or explanation, though. I kept going towards the edge and trying to turn around in time to grab it.
I saw an old video where the pipes uptop aren't there, so they most likely were added to force the player to learn that control scheme, however there really isn't anything in the game that tells you about grabbing a ledge by pressing control when crouching.

Pending on how driven the modding community is I wouldn't get your hopes up. The most promising thing we've gotten is the BiggerTnA framework which just increases ass and bust size. There hasn't been a lot of outfits that people actually worked on in bucket or anything. It's mostly recolors.

Plus it's the first few weeks of modding after the dev released the content which means a bunch of shit is being constantly added which I think is worth discussing. there is a stash/save area nearby, you can deposit your guns in there. only then you can pass through the no-gun room.

there is a place inside the no-gun area with an exchange counter that has 2 slots on it, you have to open the door from the no-gun zone so that you can access it from the normal area, leave weapons on it, and pick them up from the inside of the no-gun zone.
