Oh yeah, definetly, that's why I said we shouldn't live in an atheistic state, just that the religion should be applied as a set of values, not laws. I mean… look at christianity and islam.

While you can be condemned to hell for commiting too much sins in christianity, you can be murdered for breaking the sharia laws in islan. I believe this is the line that muslims cross which makes their religion just as barbaric as old testament christians.

Do nips even worship multiple gods? I always see they just refering to "god" (kami-sama) when talking about their deity.

As far as I know the "Multiple gods" are just nature spirits.

Secularism isn't atheistic in nature, it's more agnostic or indifferent, but atheism shouldn't be the chopping block for law.

This doesn't make sense (to me) and doesn't seem to have much to do with religion at all.
Is more of a personal, if not familial code. It could also spread throughout the community in a well functioning society, but it comes from the ground, not from the top. Even a dictator can't control all his people all of the time.
There's always laws being imposed. Whether religion(s) has anything to do with it just depends on who's in charge at the time and where their fancies lie.

I think part of the deal with the old texts was outlining how people lived (or should live) at the time and I think that's (partly) the case with the Quran as well, it's followers are just more dogmatic. Muhammad told his people not to eat pork because it's unclean, except the reason it was 'unclean' is because they didn't rear pigs properly and the resulting pork made them sick. But even though the knowledge is widely available now, they could rear pigs, eat their pork and be fine they won't because Muhammad said pigs are unclean and that's the end of it.

Rare cases of male circumcision has resulted in death. I believe these two rare cases to be about as common as one another.
