How do people use it?

I used Skype until I realized my old friend-group had been driven out of the call completely by two friends who wouldn't shut the fuck up about League of Legends and steadily replaced everyone else with people who would also only talk about League of Legends. As far as I know they're still only talking about League of Legends.

Used to be its own solitary program, Microsoft bought it out, stuffed it with ads and replaced MSN/Windows Live Messenger with it. Discord's been stealing its thunder lately and Skype'll probably die out eventually.

It's somewhat fair because I've never heard of another site to do that. However, double-spacing between large paragraphs is a pretty common practice. I think it mostly refers to small pieces of text, like 2 lines or less. Though I don't think I've ever seen anyone double-space their greentext so I have my doubt about how real the stereotype is.

It refers to a line break between a quote and the associated reply. Reddit uses Markdown, where a single line break is ignored while a double line break creates a new paragraph. This formatting isn't used on any big imageboard and recently, there was an influx of people who use it. Hence reddit spacing.

Especially since it's most likely just because of certain video games, especially earlier ones, had tiny as fuck chatboxes with very small limits on the amount of text you could type out so people would just send multiple lines habitually. Sounds to me like it's something underaged would think is a sign of Reddit due to not having played videogames before voice chats became a universal thing.
