Sex in art in general is considered fine when it isn't actually arousing. If it is arousing, it needs to be "tasteful" or valuable to the message/narrative to get a pass. This goes for everything, not just vidya.
Over time standards change on what counts as tasteful, but that's the basic thought process.

Basically, all of these individual cases are non-issues unless a professional busybody turns it into a problem by promoting the idea that it's an evil corrupting indoctrination targeting children. This usually happened with the help of mainstream 24-hour cable news, which survives on imaginary outrage.
Jack Thompson got disbarred, politicians have been ridiculed for wasting taxpayer money trying and failing to outlaw games, other big names have seen their lucrative speaking gigs dry up and they've moved on. Somewhere along the line it's always about money, and the enrichment of either a personality or an organization. This is a relatively calm period in overt attacks against games.
As points out, the new strategy is getting publishers to self-censor (e.g. Street Fighter V, virtually every localization outfit), getting retailers to drop "problematic" titles, and so on. Social media makes it very easy for a small number of people to appear much larger than they are. Make those companies bear the stigma of their decisions. No one would go to a burger joint that serves nothing but dry meat and bread.
