I had nothing against doom enthusiasts originally, but boy did the new game make them loud, annoying and cringy as hell.

I've gotta say I agree with this, since the quetion is about obsession/'autism',the hyperdimension games are just a giant slap in the face to consumers and video game players in general, and yet it's generated an insane amount of games (and profit) out of insulting and blaming its consumer base.
Not only does it represent the height of mediocrity when it comes to designing arbitrarily 'cute' characters, the gameplay is at best functional, not even close to being fun or engaging, and finally that the entire story revolves around:
'It's not bad business practices, loss of control to developers or games developed as marketing exercises over entertainment mediums that's the problem, oh no, it's you the consumer, you're ruining everything by stealing video games!'
While piracy is undeniably a harmful and immoral act, the fact the the hyperdimension series places it as the front of the issue, and an issue that is solely the consumers burden, only serves to make apparent how horribly entrenched the culture of abusive profiteering in compile heart has become,

Not to derail the thread or anything, but would you care to elaborate on that a bit? I can see how piracy may be considered harmful in some context, but immoral? I suppose you mean that it's immoral in the same sense that thievery is immoral. However, even acts that most people consider abhorrent (killing, for instance) may have some basis in moral ambiguity. I know, I know, it's all semantics and rationalizations from both sides of the argument, but I just find the pointing out of a lack of moral fiber a strange place to begin an argument against piracy.
