Whenever Trump puts pressure on China then North Korea flares up that only China can quiet them. This only happened because China suspected Trump was going to hurt them economically, you see China has been manipulating its currency a lot.
Trump said he'd label China a currency manipulator and limit trade with them as their presence hurts American jobs but Trump can't actually attack China because they'll allow NK to flare up, so he's done nothing. I also doubt that anything real will happen because North Korea is China's greatest bargaining chip against the West limiting trade from it, if NK goes China's economy will starve.

The place looks rundown, the people thin and meek, and as if everything is stuck in the 1960s. Hell, satellite photos almost tell the same story with the north being conspicuously dark at night.
I could see their massive tunnel system contributing to this, but unlike that shitthole Afghanistan, wouldn't the SorKs and China have designs on NorK terrain and otherwise start moving in themselves and thereby further isolating the remaining NorK troops?
Of course, I suppose if the NorKs actually use nukes, then all bets are off and the whole place might become glow-in-the-dark.
The Norks have been playing a stalling game while they get their nukes up to capacity to hold Japan as ransom for South Korea for some time. The military doubtlessly knows this, and knows about China's involvement in this scheme. What we're coming up on is essentially Cuban Missile Crisis II: Electric Boogaloo. (Hopefully Trump will fare better than Kennedy.)
By the time 5 carriers are in the region, shit will pop off. And it will be the Norks who go first. The US can't successfully take the Norks and hold off the Chinks without at least 5 carriers in the area. Once they hit that magic number, the Norks will probably fuck Seoul to try and get the most out of a land invasion. I wouldn't want to be in there when carrier #5 is dispatched. In any case, the satelite imagery doesn't lie - they certainly don't seem to have infrastructure of the sort you expect to see in developed nations.
I dunno, I would think that would be a prime area of interest for any invading power; but, just like Afghanistan, moving into exceedingly mountainous terrain and keeping it can become almost impossible even against a much smaller, much less well-equipped force.
On the nuke front, yeah, that's also a thought - if you're the nork high-command, you'd have to be rather retarded not to have that shit ready for use and easily accessible, or that you'd get anything approximating decent treatment from the invaders, whoever they might be.
