I was too young to appreciate the kind of storytelling that Hey Arnold pulled off, and how well it encapsulated growing up within NYC at the time it was set. The "scary" episodes really stuck with me the most, like the one about the basement, or the one about the meteor shower/aliens, or especially the haunted train episode. Wish I could remember the h'wood trivia book I saw that in. You could kind of say it was the first "flash toon" because if you listen closely they're speaking in clips. Something like only 15-20% of the cartoon series is original dialogue, the rest are lines taken from their shorts and cut&pasted, which is why it sounds like they're speaking off a record with lots of scratchiness and sudden stops than in a normal studio booth. Cambria later merged into Hanna-Barbera, so there was a lot of expert corner-cutting there.
