This scout system is pretty neat, getting new shit while idling and completing the hidden treasures is kinda okay.

I wish they did scout more after their timer is done, instead of going back to down to hear the report and then send them out again.

Considering the fucking abysmal system it spawned from I'm amazed Scouts turned out as well as they did in V-II. Seriously, PS3 Victory is nearly unplayable because of the Scout system being so bad.

I've been wondering if we should start recommending V-II soon instead of RB1 to first time Neppers, since V-II introduces all characters and just blows RB1 out of the water in every aspect (so far).

RB1 first because it's a far easier/simpler game than V-2.

Nothing in V-II is very complicated though, right? And everything is explained in detail. Or am I wrong and does V-II get way more difficult later in the game? The only argument I can see in favor of RB1 is that's it's cheap to try out.

That too, R;B1 is cheaper than V-2. Also Re;birth1 starts off more cheerful than V-2.

I mean the first hour or so of V-2 is literally an apocalypse scenario.

I'm only 25 hours in V-2, haven't finished it yet, but it really does throw in a lot of shit at you over the course of the game.

I recommend V-II over RB1 since it actually matters to the overall storyline (and has a better story than RB1) and has much better gameplay.
I also didn't find either to be too difficult or too easy.

RB1 is cheap at full price and almost always on sale (for example right now its half off on GOG, and was a little earlier a target of the Steam summer sale). And while it's simple, it is charming.

Basically one could recommend RB1 for anons on a budget and/or want to try the series out, or VII for a solid but pricier JRPG on PC (and PS4).

That's what I was thinking. RB1 also runs on lower end systems. And while RB1 is really cheery, the situation in V-II is pretty cool and I like the writing so far.

I guess both could be viable starting options now, based on your specs and preference. Maybe we should discuss this later when a lot of us have completed V-II.

It's not something exclusive to NG+. They denote characters that are DLC

I never bought any DLC though, they only appeared after NG+.

Interesting that carried characters are marked like DLC.

It means they're added to your party EXtra because you chose the NG+ option to keep all characters. They're not meant to be there at that point in the plot. I think it just flat out stays for most of the game anyways though no matter if they're meant to be there or not.

Are you able to change the screen resolution?
My toasters resolution is 1600x900 but I want to lower it. My game just barely stutters when playing so I thought changing it would help but every time I try to lower it, it stays unchanged.
Anyone else experience this? Is there an ini file where I can do it manually?

If you're not confident in assembling the parts of your own computer, I believe there are many places that would build it for you.

Easiest way to know what kind of computer you'll get is the budget for it you'll have.

You should consider building one, or at least having someone into Holla Forums doing it for you. It's really not all that hard and the pricing is superb.

You could build a modest machine for about $500-600 that'd run all the Nep games just fine.

You could probably make that even more efficient price wise. Or you could double the budget and basically have a very high end build for whatever you please.

Even if you aren't a computer savvy person, I would still recommend building your own computer. At least, where I'm from, all brands like to put high performance hardware with low ones and ends up screwing up earlier than a custom computer does. It can sometimes be cheaper than buying a brand, too.
That said, it can be scary building your own computer. I'm not really familiar with prebuilt computers since I build my own now, but you can probably look up budget gaming computers on google to get a good idea of what you should be looking for.

You could always build your own pc. that way you can buy it in parts separately and cheaper. I basically built my first pc using logicalincrements.com/ and guides online while reading the instruction manuals. The worst thing to happen to me was I put an extra stick of ram so my computer wouldn't boot up.

The problem with recommending prebuilts is that the list of "good" mfgs. changes every year or two. Very hard to keep up with what everyone is doing.

For example about 15-20 years ago you could recommend Dell with ease. But just a few years later they were seen as the plague. Toshiba way back when had great build quality for their laptops, now not so much. And then more recently Lenovo went from bad to decent to garbage in the space of a few years.

You just can't rely on those guys, a few months can mean all the difference between a GOAT build or a shit one.

At least most of the desktop makers use ATX standard cases these days. Might not be particularly GOOD ones, but still it's fun to junk a fail crap board and hide some good kit in a toaster box.

what kind of intel graphics are we talking about? HD4000 can play RB 1-3 at ~30 fps at lowest resolution.

You can find videos to help you with building it. Just keep in mind to dispel any static from your body before building it since static can screw up a circuit board.

This is Warband. A much better game than Fire & Sword and has much better mods.
The mod I'm using is Gekonewer, a Halfchan mod of the mod Gekokujo, but I'm the one that edited the names since it's not that hard. Though there's a lot of anime names already in the game by the original mod's creator.
I would highly recommend Warband though. Infinitely moreso than Fire & Sword.

The nep series has a strange place in my heart. Early last year I was in that beautiful pseudo-neet state of having just finished my tertiary education, but not having a job. Much like Neptune, I would laze about and gorge myself on sweets. I bought re;birth 1 at the recommendation of a friend and finished it in a good 60 hours or so. During this time I had also managed to score a position at my first, and current job. I cried many tears of sadness after receiving the call that I was accepted, but I managed to finish this game before my first day of work.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that R;B1 represents my last moments of not having to worry about anything. Each nep game I play brings that feeling back, even if it's for a little while.

Well hopefully if I replay the Re;Birth games and then eventually VII, one of the Neps who hopefully may be the one will forgive me

That's not headcanon, that's the truth. Kurome is the true Uzume, the red one is nothing but a delusional fragment of her conscience. Because the mystical censor steam only covers up girls with a bit of volume on their chest, which IF, Nep, and Blanc all lack. They have to cover their own chests, but IF thought it would be stupid to have to cover her chest with her hands (like Blanc) the entire time and just opted to use a towel. Try to play around with the options in Cheat file, one of them should work, actually I think you need to use two at once, I'll look at the cheats and try to remember what you need to use

Noire's voice is hilariously bad and unfitting most of the time, but she does happen to nail certain scenes when Noire is reacting to something.

As for Blanc I'm not really sure what you're talking about. Especially since dub Blanc is actually less hushed than in the original audio.

The real weakness of the dub is in certain HDD voices. Purple Heart in Japanese has a fucking perfect tone going and the English one doesn't carry it at all. Black Heart in the dub is just full ham. Iris Heart's Japanese voice is incredible whereas the English one is kind of cringey.

Oh yeah and dub Rom is simply awful.

I will say that anyone who only tried out English voices on R;B1 did not get the best impression though, they were super weak in general there.

It is, but the dub is not very good. They couldn't get all of the actors back, and the ones that do return don't do their voices nearly as well. Plutia for example has a fantastic dub voice but in the anime it's like her voice actor forgot how to do it completely.

So I think I may have came up with a reason the game lags a bit on weaker machines, based on similiar experience. I think the game tries to "force" the machine into running it at 60 fps, so on weaker ones it has the opposite effect, in some areas the 60 fps works, in smaller, closed ones. So I could probably get the game to run better if I could cap the fps at 30, anyone got a way of doing that?

Nvidia inspector has an option to limit the fps if you have an Nvidia card.

I always get surprised by the sheer range of some of these Japanese VAs. Western media taught me to expect that even subtle changes in age or personality probably meant getting a different VA.
