Funny they say that. Trump is actually in a very good position to coordinate a lot of resources and connections into the construction of a true AI. With the ability to directly command military and intelligence resources as well as corporate connections, Trump could easily set up one of the most ambitious military-industrial-corporate projects imaginable. If certain entities overlooked their personal disdain of Trump, they'd realize they've inherited a potential diamond mine here.
What makes me suspect this possibility is Peter Thiel supporting Trump, a board member of Facebook and chairman of Palantir Technologies. He's definitely interested in AI and the technological singularity and has financially backed OpenAI. Could be all a coincidence, but interesting nonetheless.
