Diablo 3 good yet?

So is Diablo 3 good yet?
I've been having this fucking intense urge in buying it but I kinda wanna know your opinions on it's current state

What do you think?

I would have cared 2 years ago when i had awful internet but that isn't too worrying for me now

It's ok.

It's not the disaster it was. It's fairly competent now.

But it's overall just sort of weak.

Fate is better.

It's a question of principle.
Do you think a good game would have anti-consumer shit in it? Now you want to actually support it by buying.
And then you will cry "fuck dude games are ruined by jews". Like do not fucking give money to jews then?

Wasn't that proto-Torchlight? How does it compare to Torchlight?

Easily the most brain-dead/boring entry in the genre, not really good unless you just want to just blaze through something really simple

Torchlight feels more like diablo 2 rather than like how fate is like diablo 1. Torchlight has skill trees and 3 classes vs fate's more customisable feel to it. It really depends if you want a diablo 1 or 2 feel to it. I likd fate's customisation better though.

Better than it was, but still.
Builds are still non existent.
Try grim dawn, they updated passives with double damage on them and now you can even make builds! Although skills are still quite lame.
You get the idea.

I see.
I didn't like how even more of a D2 clone Torchlight 2 was compared to 1.
Maybe I'll give Fate a shot.

Grim Dawn disappointed me in armor design and variety department. Everything looks exactly the same, which is weird since setting allows for all sorts of creative freedom.

nah. its fun for…. 3-5 hours.
not worth it at all.

Get the traitor's soul if you can. It has the first 2 game's dungeons in it, plus different races and a few more upgrades from the first 2. I think they made 2 more sequels, but i havent played them yet.

I dont know what are you talking about. Sure there could be more stuff, but its generally good stuff.

unless you got the console version you can wait until the end of the times

Even with a good connection it can still lag, it's just that shit

thats what my friend said about SFV until he lost connection and all his progress with it in the survival mode, he got really salty with that

There is an inherent 100ms delay. Only gets worse from there. Hardcore characters it's highly recommended your character is able to withstand 10 seconds (timeout length) on the difficulty your playing. Except once you get higher up that's impossible so anytime there is any decent lagspike in the server many HC characters will die. Forum posts will be made, yelling in general/hc chat in game and people will temporary quit the game cause of it.

So I just got into Grim Dawn recently, and my last game in this genre before that was Diablo II. What good games have come out since then?

nothing about fate interests me
grim dawn looks really cool but the lack of character customization isn't clicking for me
I probably am gonna end up with Torchlight 2

is there anything else good? I remember seeing some diablo looking game with amazing graphics a while back, anyone remember what that was?

Titan quest is pretty good, but very, very linear.

What character customization do you mean? Face/Hair? You won't be seeing them for the most part anyway.
Grim Dawn is really fucking good man, play it.

TL2 is ok too, and its devs are pretty based, but it's like 99% D2 clone.

No. It has level scaling and itemization sucks.

IMO gameplay wise it went from weak and climbed a slight notch to meh tier on PC. If you don't care about the technical aspect of always online req for single player, it's still a kike move from an industry practice perspective. If you still want the game that badly consider one of the console versions if it's on sale. It plays slightly different than the pc version, IMO it handles surprisingly well with a controller.

Your choice and your dollars ultimately.

No its not. Itemization is virtually not exist, speed is low, graphic style is worse than d3 and you cant build anything because everything is exactly the same.

How to enjoy D3 properly:

you've picked the best one, no need to look for anything else

Play Path of Exile instead. It's free and it's pretty much what D3 should have been.

pathofexile.com/

Not knocking the game, but this looks like by-the-book shilling.

And by "should have been" you mean tedious, overly complicated and with shit controls?

Dude, it's a Diablo 3 thread. Showing up and telling people they're better off playing Path of Exile instead is pretty much part and parcel of the topic. Consensus has long been that Path of Exile is what Diablo 3 should have been.

Tedious I'll accept, since the game ends up becoming a pure grindfest (but hey, that's what you signed up for, I guess). Overly complicated I disagree with, since there are some degenerate builds that make the game very simple by developing a god skill where you just push one button to destroy everything. Unless you mean the skill tree (pic related) and itemization, but that freedom and build potential is what I actually like about PoE. If you don't like it you can always follow some cookiecutter build guide instead of doing your own thing. Personally I like the theorycrafting more than playing the actual game, but that's just me (and my degenerate builds).

Shit controls is a bit eh. I've done toolbox builds before where the 7 hotkeys seemed insufficient but normally it suffices. I wouldn't mind some additional hotkeys though.

...

It's a fun game, I'll give ya that, but what stopped me from playing it was the fact you're forced to play it multiplayer. Even if you try to play it by yourself (not join a party of rag-tag normalfags/fucking retarded thieves that don't share loot) the game forces you to play it through a server, so you constantly get a bit of shitty lag the entire time you play.

And don't tell me it's on my end, I have some of the best internet in Canada (lol not saying much I know) and it still lagged out more reliably than it didn't.

Its singleplayer by default, you gotta join parties to make it multiplayer.

Oh that shit. Yes, it is gay as fuck and Pay2Win imo. I am fairly certain that stash tabs represent the overwhelming majority of microtransaction shekels that GGG rakes in. There have been a lot of complaints about that. Not to mention 4 stash tabs by default is pretty fucking gay (why not 10 at least), but how else is GGG going to make their shekels. They seriously need to step that shit up imo. It got even worse when they made an improved trade system that completely hinges on premium stash tabs to access those features. People were NOT happy with that. Hell, I have premium stash tabs (bought my way into closed betas and soundtracks and spent the points on the only microtransactions that seemed useful) and I thought it's faggotry.

Pretty sure they did actually address that one recently. Loading times have improved a lot as of late.

It's pretty much trade chat spam and using poe.trade/ for the most part. Trade chat got split up into like 15 subchats to prevent the spam so now any seller will spam all 15 trade channels to make sure everyone knows what they're selling. That's pretty bad. The economy manages fine though and poe.trade works well enough.

Could be worse though. Could be an auction house.

I'd've pointed that out but Diablo 3 is also always online shit.

Personally I don't count that as a plus for a game. I quit Diablo2-LoD when I reached that stage. Even though I've played every class, every major cookie cutter builds and more than a few self challenge builds, and was in a guild I liked for realms ladder multiplayer. When I realized I had more fun planning and testing builds vs playing it even with other people I can stand. It occured to me the game was basically done for me.

Played my last D2 session as an Assasin kicker, no twink from start to finish of Hell Baal, that I needed to tick off my personal checklist. And called it a goodnight.

Because they cant even make good looking hats.

Underrail and Age of Decadence.

That was a special kind of bullshit.

...

I'm not sure if this is bait or if you're mentally challenged. I feel pity for you in either case.

Poe didnt have a cancerous auction house, plus its completely free to play. Always online is tolerable with a game that you dont spend any money for. Its unacceptable for game which costs 40 dollars.

There is no Diablo3, it got cancelled. HAhaha.

Torchlight two for me.

Dude, I don't either. I'm just explaining my experience. The main reason I am recommending PoE is because OP is starved for his Diablo grind fix enough to consider Diablo 3. The novelty should sustain him long enough at first.

Personally, playing Path of Exile makes me want to reinstall Nox so I can have a more exciting hack & slash.

People would be shitting all over PoE for it too if it wasn't for D3 being doubleplusgay in this regard. The whole tagline for PoE is basically "Do you wish D3 was less cancer?"

Also people are more accepting of this shit if it comes with a $0 pricetag.

shame on you

well poe is f2p and has actual multiplayer and trading, so it has an excuse for being always online, I still wish it were b2p though.

I know mang, and I explained mine. Seems in most Diablo 3 threads it eventually boils down to who enjoyed D2 and wants to see more of it, or those who enjoyed some parts of D2 but wants some parts changed, to people who never played the first two games and 3 was their first experience with the series.

Myself I'm fine with Torchlight 2 since it's Diablo2 redux and most of the old Diablo2 element clunk thrown out, I'm not a huge fan of the aesthetics but I can get over it. It's a beer and pretzel vidya with most of the D2 style grind trimmed out, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else but vidya. And for myself, that's what I prefer in a hack and slash ARPG nowadays.
I knew some folks that really got into PoE in a yuuge way. But for me, when I look at that skill tree I don't get excited. I get bad flashbacks of the parts of Diablo2 I grew to dislike. Some people have the complete opposite reaction, and that's fine. Both reactions are fine, it's good that both are fine.

Nox is good. I was more of a Diablo1 Hellfire with mods fag, if my HDD didn't die I'd likely still play that every few weekends.

The mechanics of fighting/attacking/avoiding enemies and using your abilities are the most fun in the genre.

The problem is that they fucked up the itemization, the world and story is unlikeable, and the stats/affixes aren't cool.

So treat it like gauntlet, not diablo and you might be okay.

hardcore players have protested outside Blizz HQ because the online requirement utterly killed that aspect of the game.

why would (((they))) think that always online was a good idea.

I'm in the "I enjoyed Diablo 1 and wish we could see more of that, but PoE has been copying D2's degeneracies" and "I like Nox" camps.

I like PoE's passive tree but I think it's being underutilized. While it offers a solid but of unusual variety, it's still a lot of flat bonuses for the most part and some drift has been making attributes increasingly negligible. Underutilization of utility nodes, excessive outlets for battlefield movement, and crunchy builds that go to extremes really remove a lot of the old Diablo careful tactics or concern about the battlefield and its traps. Path of Exile still has boobytrapped exploding barrels for instance but they're meaningless. Not to mention PoE has been increasingly leaning on uniques to cover what the talent tree doesn't do, which is nice for the uniques but still feels like the tree is being underutilized. Also the attributes are no longer as meaningful as on launch except for 30 int nodes being 6% ES + 15 mana nodes.

I also think PoE's setting and plot has been going down the shitter. Back during the Closed Beta when there was no voice-acting, they didn't cram lore in every corner, and they reduced the amount of mobs, you really had more of a Diablo 1 minimalist aesthetic to it, where you were trying to figure out what the hell happened there in the past from the background details and on some level it didn't even really matter because your character always had their own priorities to get ahead and take down everything in their way. That didn't last though. Now there's a borderline You Are The Hero Do All Our Shit Just Because plot and lore is being stuffed down your throat. It's a lot less exciting this way.

Muh piracy.

forgot to mention: the game is shit op. RoS fixed a lot of shit, but it's still a polished turd. Play d2 or jerk off to diablo porn, just don't buy d3.

Torchlight 2 is mechanically better.
Grim Dawn is artistically better.
Diablo 3 has the highest production values.
Too bad bad we can't have all in one game.

I don't know what these people who are chatting shit about Grim Dawn are talking about.

Maybe they suck at making the game fun for themselves, maybe it's Act 1 being the most dreary part of the game or maybe I'm just easily entertained, but it's been forever since a Diablo clone kept me THIS engaged so far past the first difficulty.

Whatever the case, OP, I'm sure you'll have a better time with it than with Diablo III, so if you really need to scratch this itch, go for Grim Dawn.

That skill tree is shit. 95% of it is stuff like + 5hp or +5 fire res. PoE isn't terrible but I got bored with it fast, it doesn't even come close to Diablo 2.

Okay. I prefer Grim Dawn though.
Get it if you find it on the cheap.

Oh yeah that too. I loved hardcore in D2, tried playing it twice in D3 both characters died when blizz server died for no reason. Maybe it's better in RoS but even if the servers were stable you can still lose connection temporarily and D3 has a 10 seconds countdown before you log out so hardcore is basically impossible unless you enjoy randomly losing the character for no reason.

I don't know either. The game starts out slow and then the pace picks the fuck up. However around level 75+ I got bored because it became the same shit and there wasn't enough challenge besides…certain things, that were not enough to keep me grinding.

I look forward to the expansions or whatever else they have planned in the future.

torchlight 2 the worst hack and slash i ever played and that's coming from a guy who also played the adventures of van helsing

You should be suggesting Grim Dawn for Diablo 2 fans. Actual Diablo fans probably want to play a singleplayer-focused game, Path of Exile was interesting is almost an entirely different type of game, since it revolves around multiplayer.

(And no, despite the fact they forced MP, Diablo 3 really doesn't revolve around it.)

Well, I'm past level 70, too, and though I admit it gets too easy with the build I have(Fire/Chaos Pyromancer, cursing, stunning and popping niggas before they even get a chance to get close), I have quite a bit to look forward to, like finishing up my Devotion tree, killing Nemesis enemies, getting the best booty, and building my other characters(thank fuck for Mandates).

Only tangentially related, but I really wish Diablo clones would drop its musical legacy and use tracks that actually fit the base concept of "fighting hordes of hellspawn".
Don't know about you, but having something like vid related up while I'm playing would do wonders to alleviate my tedium.

Lame compared to diablo +15% dmg or +15% dmg?

D2 skill tree has active and passive abilities and synergy bonuses between them.
They've made such a big deal about the skill tree and it's 100% passives and 99% filler.

Amazing discovery.
Lame indeed.

Half of them even has same composer.

part of the grim irony that is Diablo 3. most people play solo and it's piss easy, so why is it always online?

There's no active skill tree though, they moved them to fucking gems. Another horrible design.

Why active skills must be in a tree?

If you want something balls easy to keep your hand off your dick then Diablo 3 might be for you. That said if you have a multi button mouse you can play it one handed without much effort adapting. The biggest question is why do you wanna get D3, OP? Just because it's Diablo? Or do you just want some sort of Diablo clone? Cause you can do much better than D3 for Diablo clones.

Isn't it obvious?

When the add-on was released it sort of took a turn for the better, but went to shit again shortly after.

It has a Diablo'esque total conversion called Diablo 2 Lilith. Don't play Titan Quest without the official expansion Immortal Throne, the fanpatch, some camera control mod and All Skins mod. All easily obtainable, except a comfortable to use camera mod:
lost.org.uk/tqcam.html

It takes less then 2 hours to hit max level, then once you get there you do nothing but rifts to get keys to do greater rifts until your board.
Also the game has no lobby system instead it picks rooms for you so going online is a fucking chore, if you really want to play online find a friend.

Honestly I would suggest getting Grim Dawn over D3, it's more polished and a million times more enjoyable.

My personal autistic tier list of these games:

Throne of Darkness

Restricted Area, Van Helsing, Titan Quest

Sacred 1, Dungeon Siege 2, Path of Exlie

Blade & Sword, Diablo 1, Torchlight 2, Sacred 2, Grim Dawn

Diablo 2, Torchlight 1

Phantasy Star Online

Is Diablo 3 on ps3 worth it?
Please i need to know if it changes much from the pc version.

I think the ps3 version adds in rolling or somthing and offline play. So ironically, the console version is supirior. But do your research, im not 100% sure on that.

As an actual active Diablo 3 player, as I doubt pretty much anyone in this thread is, I can say the game is actually pretty fun now. Actual progression system, itemization is better, skills are intuitive and allow for more various builds, new art assets patched in for free. Pretty good TBH. The main gain was itemization and progression, as at the core that is what an ARPG like Diablo (2+) is about. I feel it's in a pretty good place right now.

they haven't actively patched the console version, so i would not get it.

I found the ultimate evil edition for a good price
It should be patched enough given the expansion and the game is in the same package

If it has offline play then it's already better.

Console version is

Sometimes it even feels like good old Diablo/Diablo 2 days.

...

All of these games are better then Diablo 3 and aren't casual trash.

I haven't played that one yet, is it any good?

It's alright. A bit more humorous than you'd expect but the humor is decent.

But starcraft on N64 I don't get it either.
But did starcraft on N64 have the broodwar expansion on it or did it never get that?

The only bs that they pulled off on the console is that they didn't let you get RoS as a download in the online stores to upgrade the vanilla console version.
You still have to buy the new version but at least could you import your characters to the new one with all the old gear you collected in your stash.
But yeah the console versione is more fun than the PC one.

It did. I remember emulating sc 64 to play against my brother cause we only had 1 pc lel.

Thanks for the answer user.
Such a shame I was never able to git gud on starcraft even though I loved the setting and the story.
But I don't get what they tried to do with the story in 2 I mean why did they go with the xel'naga magic mcguffin story.
Why did they have to care about a race that was stated in the old lore that it was annihilated by the zerg swarm.
Why did they think it was a good idea to say Kerrigan was controled by an evil xel'naga and that made her evil even though she had enough good reasons to be pissed at the entire universe and the human race and why did the Protoss not understand that they should listen to what the over 900 years old dark templar has to say when it comes to "don't get your homeworld back that can wait until later because there is a bigger threat on the way."
Ffs man at least try to make sense if you want to make a dark sci fi story about redneck Human penalty colonists, insect like swarm entitys that want to take over the universe and psionic not Eldar Alien reptiles.
At least did they not make the Terrans look like a bunch of bumbling fools who have no chance against the superior aliens but rather are they equal to the other factions.

I just got diablo 3 + reaper of souls (ps3) on amazon for 22 bucks
It was discounted so i went for it, i'll never know when another sale comes because Jewzard hardly allows any
I need to be shamen on, please

What do you mean with "shamen on" because I admit that I have no idea what you mean with that.
If you mean to be shamed on because you bought a console game via amazon then why? this is not cuckchan Holla Forums where there is constantly a console/pc war and to play a game made by blizzard is only shameful if you open your wallet and throw everything you have at these sellouts like for card packs in "I can't believe it's not mtg" or that subscription for "world of retcon" or for cosmetic items in "over" we want to steal some customers from Valve" watch".
Trust me there are far more shameful things user.

user, I think you may have had your brain scrambled by that Eldritch Horror

Torchlight 2 is less fun than Microsoft Excel. I'd rather play D3.

Eh? Are you one of those types that treats getting billied as a form of lewd headpats? Well then, get ready for some non bullying!
Because really, while the PC has more up to date patches and content, the basic control IMO is arguably better on the console version. And console at least has offline capability. 22 dollarydoos is a decent enough price for the console version.

And if you find it lacking challenge, then add this mod too.

I started Grim Dawn recently and I find it fun, being able to dual-class at level 10 was a nice surprise.

I like the overall feel of it, kind of a steampunk-meets-zombieapocolyse setting.

Torchlight 1 and 2 are also good.

Don't buy Diablo, I waited like 15 years for that game. Fuck those assholes for milking WoW for so long.
