Why doesn't he play Skyrim instead then?

Make this your fucking bible

wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas

I just want an RPG with a story that changes depending on your actions, a lot of quests that add to the immersion of the world, and goodies hidden away in places only an autistic explorer would look. Why can't a competent dev make something like this?

What mod can preserve the feeling you have during the first 10 or so levels of this game. I like the beginning of the game, because it actually feels like you're vulnerable and need to be cautious. Once you level up you're an unfuckable killing machine. The only thing that can hurt you is if you mistakenly pull a group of Deathclaws.

Fallout: Dust

It's worth a try

Searchlight Horror might help. It makes the area around Camp Searchlight have a ton of ghouls that never stop spawning until you kill some boss.
nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/39364/?

Some anons in the past recommended AWOP or Project Nevadas difficulty-changes to make the game more interesting but i personally had most fun with just cranking the difficulty all the way up, install Jsawyer and limit myself to only one Rifle and a sidearm and Light Armor.

lemme post my list

pretty solid, I have FOOK working with PN and despite the list the mods harmonize well do to some extra mods

right now doing a twisted scientist named phil who builds junk bots and started building lobotomites, his main "trusty" robot is Krieger 4.0 (the first 3 died through various means in game with 4.0 being the most "promising"), a protectron, and a safebot simply named "safebot"

My goal is to transform Novac into my personal mad scientist fortress

You only need about a dozen or so mods to make the game look and play 1000x better while modding for maybe 1-2 hours if it is your first time.

You can find most of those mods here: games.gamepressure.com/game-downloads.asp?ID=1087
The rest you can either get from MOD DB or Nexus Mods. Nexus requires an email address for downloading files that are over 2MB in size, and so if you don't want to sign up for anything just get the tiny mods from there and download the bigger ones from other places.

Any idiot who tries to convince you to install more mods than this is wasting your time. Some of the additional quest mods are awesome, too, but for playing the base game and DLC the above list is really all you need.

nah shit like power armor stats overhaul is neat, makes power armor actually good and makes it so it supports it's own weight when you have it equipped

Also most of those mods are just texture overhauls

IWS increases spawns in the wasteland, adds more patrols, more traders and can be tailored to your rig

AWOP adds a bunch of new areas, but if you aren't running rebalance mods the enemies are very bullet spongey

Jsawyer is solid I agree, someone on the nexus made a better version with a bit more tweaking since Sawyer himself needed outside help for the later builds of his patch

ALSO IT SHOULD GO WITHOUT SAYING THAT YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE A BASHED PATCH SO CONTENT MODS PLAYER A BIT NICER TOGETHER AS WELL AS FLICKING ARCHIVE INVALIDATION ON AND OFF AFTER INSTALLING TEXTURE MODS

Also I'd recommend FOMM from lover's lab, those guys made a better version

Is that how it is actually supposed to work, though? What I mean to say is that the mechanisms in it must be somewhat crude and imperfect, and thus adding an amount of resistence to your body movements. I can imagine a person moving around in it and feeling as if there is extra weight being put on their body. Sure, it gives them a ton of extra strength but that would usually come at a cost. What I mean to say is moving just my arm through the air takes almost no energy, but when it hits a concrete wall it does no damage to it. In contrast, with Power Armor it would seem to make sense that moving your arm through air would take a bit of effort, but when your arms hits up against a concrete wall it does a lot of damage to the wall.

This is why I barely use any gameplay mods. On the one hand perhaps wearing Power Armor shouldn't weigh the player down at all, but in my opinion it should be much like having on any other heavy armor except it is super heavy and not only provides protection but also extra strength through motion actuated motors.

As for making the wasteland more populated with enemies, or making the casinos more full of gamblers, these just don't sit right with me at all. The emptiness of the game is one of the signature parts that make it distinct. Did the game designers want more populated casinos but just couldn't afford to do it technically? Perhaps, but what it creates, if by chance or on purpose, is something greater.

I get a very disturbing feeling in New Vegas because there is row upon row of slot machines, but the place is almost as empty as the desert outside. You can just tell something is amiss. It's a constant reminder of the horrific war that almost destroyed the entire world as well as the fact that an unbelievable amount of organized crime must be going on for these gangs to keep such huge businesses open even when they have practically no customers. It's creepy as fuck and fits the game better than any other option.

Sometimes the game designers just fuck up horribly and need to be corrected, such as with the horrendous UI that requires scrolling through menus forever sometimes. Mostly I find the possibly imperfect details, like a casino being a sort of ghost town and power armor requiring more strength (rendered as weight), to be perfect.

I don't consider the 3 and on Fallout games to be desolate anymore. They're more on par with the wild west in terms of population and civilization.

The Wild West was actually very desolate unless you envision it as something like Sunset Riders (which is not what it was like in real life.)

Yeah, but still must have been a cut above the old Fallout games, at least later in the era.

Is there any proper pregnancy, slavery and base building mods for New Vegas that doesn't break my game in 5 minutes? That's the only thing I ask for life.

He thought Skyrim needed guns.

Skyrim with guns would have been great.

Sadly, they shat out Falout 4 instead, and I can't really live without diagonal movement animations in third person anymore.

Bumping with some papes.

So few chances to ask this question and I'll never be answered.

Fuck my life.

Was going to ask for recommended mods for FO4 but just realized I deleted that crap. Whatever

I think I've already played most of the good mods for FO:NV. Are there any new good ones?

Mods have to blacklist "I installed [bgs game], recommended mods?". That's what i recommend

Do i finish Caesar's route or do all the DLC first?

The final battle for Hoover Dam ends the game. Do the DLC.

DELETE THIS THREAD NOW!

Have any of you ever played a mod that adds content but isn't terribly made, horribly balanced, and doesn't feel horrendously out of place? I've never found a single content mod for any game that fulfills that criteria for me, barring JSawyer for FNV. It's a shame because so many mods get so close to it, like one particular Legion overhaul mod that I've forgotten the name of, but they always end up including some sort of lore-breaking garbage.

...

It's been a while since I played, but World of Pain (the one that adds all the underground dungeons, right?) wasn't too bad. It was mostly confined to the underground and it didn't try to imitate any Fallout lore. The only grating thing was a few obvious self-insert characters with colored hair and problem glasses (no, really) wandering around a few places. You can talk to them & learn their special snowflake background but that's it.

Roger

There are lots of games like that, and New Vegas is a good example of one.

considering powered armor can stand upright thats how it typically works

IWS doesn't make it wall to wall enemies, but it does make the wasteland a bit more alive, I see more legion patrols walking around sometimes fighting with NCR, I see a couple more trade caravans, the world doesn't become by all means packed but I can understand your feeling.

shit like FCO just overhauls faces and makes em look a bit nicer, updates hairstyles as well

Ladder restoration is a nice one too, makes most of the billboards and things with service ladders climbable, so it creates new vantage points, and the navmesh leads to them so enemies can come up there

Satchels and tailor made are just "create your own look" armor mods that let you find parts of armor and customize a look you like

Would recommend Speed-e wheels and the no fast travel since it makes the world feel a bit bigger since you can't fast travel everywhere

I don't think that's a good thing. I gained infamy with the Legion pretty quick, and I was constantly ambushed by them for the rest of the game.

I've already played New Vegas to death, what are some other ones?

Thief & Thief II
System Shock 2
Deus Ex
Morrowind
Dark Messiah

Just realized you asked specifically for RPGs, so strike Thief and Dark Messiah from that list.
Also, there's Alpha Protocol. It's kind of shit, though.

I see that you mistake tediousness for difficulty. Are you asian? Do you think grinding for something means you earned it?

Is there a mod that rebalances melee combat and/or makes armor have DR/DT? All the mods that rebalance DR/DT have a billion other dumb changes I don't like and aren't modular installs. And melee enemies are fucking retarded in this game: oh look the guy with a baseball bat is more dangerous than the guy using a combat shotgun or a fully automatic combat riffle!

Difficulty is when things become harder

I use the "choose your start" mod, so it shits me out in random starting points after setting up my character, and legion is neutral by default

Less starting health only matters when fighting deathclaws and those NCR guys who are protecting the general during the Legion route. Maybe land mines?

Arcanum is a personal favourite of mine. There's also VTM:B and I guess The Witcher games too

mot of the rebalance mods make the game actually interesting to boot, land mines no longer just take some health and cripple a leg, if you're wearing anything but power armor it tends to kill you and blow your legs off

also a lot of rebalance mods remove the shared DT/DR of the helemts and armor meaning if someone is wearing power armor and no helmet, head shots are going to kill him quickly

there's a list of what Jsawyer.esp changes and adds I'd recommend you look it up along with other rebalance mods

More perks mods are fun.

why did I sage?

more perks and more traits is solid

pics related are what's in the mega link also a a FO4 deathclaw texture for New Vegas and other mods.

mega.nz/#F!BwQyVYCQ!8rTNqurmzPvWgrvWu8h60w

I recommend getting the mod that changes the Varmint Rifle's ammo type from 5.56 to .22LR.

The Varmint Rifle was supposed to be .22 during development but, presumably and not unlike the Pistol's damage output in Halo 1, this was changed as the result of a programming oversight. This is evident in how .22 ammo is so common in Goodsprings and the rifle itself does such little damage compared to the Service Rifle.

A simple mod that does something like that is one of those little things that changes everything.

NOT Project Nevada for starters.

I actually have been playing survival mode for the first time on F4 and I'm having a tremendous time

And remember kids, being a contrarian is cruise control for cool.

OP needs to use Mod Organizer instead of FOMM. It keeps your game directory clean and is better in every conceivable way

The AI got somehow worse since NV. I don't know how Bethesda does it, but they always find ways to fuck things up.

Why

benis

I still prefer NV, but Fallout 4's AI doesn't even compare.
F4 AI takes cover, aims, and has rudimentary squad tactics. It's just impossible to tell because you kill everything immediately.

MO doesn't work well with FNV and needs a few extra steps for mods to install with it

I've got a AI overhaul mod does help a bit

once tried to make a mod for FNV, pic related is as far as I got before abandoning it because I can't rig for shit

This word and elitist has been posted around a lot lately. Where did all the newfags come from?

currently playing through new vegas, what level should I do the DLCs at and what order should I do them
also anything that I should make sure I do before doing them?

honest hearts - around 10 lvl
dead money - 15ish
old world blues - 18-20
lonesome road - 30+

wiki.step-project.com/User:EssArrBee/FalloutNewVegas

it's summer and cuck channers think we allow the same shit tier posting quality they do

Turn off 'water displacement', 'water refraction', and 'depth fog'

.>MO doesn't work well with FNV
That hasn't been true for a while.

Do the addons have any copy protection or can I just throw them into the folder and load them on my standard edition?

Ever since Nexus started trying to monopolize the modding community there has been a huge push to make sure that copy protection is included with anything that can launch a game. This means that if you are trying to use the 4GB launcher (which is required for all of the large textures and graphical effects) it will try to detect a cracked exe and see if steam is running. Also, FOMM will refuse to launch the game in this circumstance for the same reason. Basically, anything you can get from Nexus has got to be 100% approved by corporate big daddies. It sucks and goes completely against the spirit of modding, but such is life.

Here is the fix:
nvse.silverlock.org/beta/fnv4gb_nvse.zip

Extract to \Fallout New Vegas and use that to launch the game. Remember that FOMM won't work with it. You can still manage your mods and archive invalidate, but when it comes time to start the game you have to do it the old-fashioned way by going into the installation folder and double-clicking fnv4gb.exe (or just create a shortcut for it on your desktop)

Whoops! I think you might have been talking about DLC and not mods. Either way, my post will be useful to somebody I hope.

wat

The 4gb patch (aka LAA patch) can be applied to anything.

FOMM works fine for me on cracked versions.

Which crack and what versions of FOMM and 4GB launcher are you using?

Do they?

FOMM was latest at the time (like 6 months ago?)

You don't need a 4gb launcher, just google the 4gb patch

You forgot Project Nevada.

That's pretty much all of Someguy2000's mods described perfectly. Well written, fit right into the game world, function, and are designed very well.

Fallout 4 is arguably the best Bethesda game to come out since Morrowind, it's a shame they had to axe almost everything making it an RPG in terms of stats and roleplaying. I couldn't even play it until I downloaded a mod that muted the PC, so he wasn't opening his stupid fucking mouth every ten seconds to remind me that shit was happening to him, not to me.

Leagues above 3 in terms of being a proper Fallout game though, they took some cues from New Vegas and tried to emulate it as best they could.

It's a solid game, and a tolerable attempt at emulating Fallout, even though it's not as good as the originals or New Vegas.

Is the issue also present in MO?

From what I remember, no.

I kinda agree with this.

Fallout 4 wouldn't be bad… if it wasn't named Fallout 4.

If it was a new IP, it might have worked, but as a Fallout game, it's even worse than 3.

Not even close, it's much better in terms of being a Fallout game than 3 ever was.

I do agree that it should have been a new IP. Really, it should have been a Borderlands game. The setting has potential, F4 has good gunplay, and removing it from the lolsorandom Burch humor could only be a good thing.

Well, can you please go an tell the people on the Nexus forums about whatever in the fuck it is you are doing to run NV with 4GB, FOMM, and a crack? Every other thread there is at least one person bitching about not being able to use mods with cracked exe files and the response is always, "LOL, dude, why are you coming to Nexus if you don't buy games? Dude, weed, LMAO!"

I fucking own the game and this bullshit that Nexus has pulled on the modding community by forcing all mods to abide by copyright protection is fucking disgusting. It wouldn't be so bad if there was a viable alternative but nowadays there are so many mods that you can't find anywhere else.

Does anybody know where you can download the Yukigaichi Unofficial Patch YUP aside from Nexus Mods?

I've been looking for a while.

You're shit out of luck compadre, Nexus is where all the cool kids hang out.

How retarded are you?

Yea, no. The mods just ban you. They take a zero-tolerance stance on game piracy and will ban anyone who claims to have gotten the game illicitly.

Sorry I'm competent with computers. I'm very ashamed of my ability to figure out brain-dead mod installation instructions.

Why can't you download it from Nexus? All you need is a free account, the website can't check that you have the game.

Not him, but: Cracked exe. Generic 4gb patcher to change the header (I use one I got for FO3). Older version of FOMM.

Other than the story why do people hate Fo4?

Voiced protagonist that hampers dialogue something fierce and ruins roleplaying, in addition to the axing of skills, most of the actually entertaining perks, and traits. Makes it more of an FPS with RPG elements than an actual roleplaying game.

People bang on about the lack of choice too but it actually has significantly more choice and consequence than Fallout 3 ever did.

...

That shit can happen? I went into Honest Hearts at level 40 something and didn't notice anything like that. They had a lot of Bush rifles though, which can kill you pretty quick if you're not careful.

Though maybe I just didn't notice it because of how little I cared for that particular DLC. Outside of Burnt Man, pretty forgettable.

Dead Money>Old World Blues>Lonesome Road>Honest Hearts

I would probably need at least an hour to write down everything that's wrong, bad, broken, or half-assed in FO4. And I would still miss stuff.

That said: It would be a decent time waster/walking simulator, if it was not so empty, broken and incomplete.

Literally free money.

Got Fallout 1 and 2 free off GOG a while back and found out they were trash. Are the FPSs any good?

Eat shit and die.

fugg

I already did, didn't I just explain that? Didn't kill me though.

Yeah, it definitely happened to me. Maybe a mod I had did something funny to them, but I can't imagine which mod it would be.

Semi-relatedly, my latest run of Honest Hearts got fucked up.

I figure I must have shot the wrong kind of tribals at one point, but I don't care. Honest Hearts is never fun, even though Graham is cool.

Isn't there a mod that removes the player's voice?

I would only go there for the Survivalist's rifle, but I rather use mods or the console to get it.

Doesn't change the fact that it's a design decision that directly hampered the game. I play with that mod, and it helps a lot, but you still don't get any cool new dialogue options based around how you built your character.

Always somewhat weird that whenever they go to the bother of voicing the main character, they always give them probably the worst voice in the game that's not from a random intern.

if it hasn't been true for awhile I've been living under a rock then

If there's one thing I could take from FNV and put into F4 flawlessly it would be the different types of ammo and the DR/DT system.

That way at level 80 I can actually have a chance against tough enemies with armor piercing ammo with vanilla weapons, only comfortably playing because I have balanced weapon mods.

The VAs in F4 are actually pretty good, from what little I've heard of them. It's actually one of the better implementations of a voiced protagonist in an RPG I've seen, but that doesn't stop it from being a poor decision.

Agreed, that's something that's missing.

There are only a few memorable voice actors for me, to name a few

Master Chief from Halo
Kyle Katarn from Star Wars series
Artyom Alekseyevich Chyornyj from Metro 2033 and LL
James from F3

There's more but I can't think of them at the moment.

pastebin.com/dkgkb8p8 obligatory

No, Supermutants are asexual. If i remember correctly, the genitalia recess during the mutation. Lily in FNV for example has no tits.
I think Fallout 3 had a science report in Vault84 that describes how humans lose all sexual characteristics during the mutation.
And FO1 already established that they are sterile.
