1. Original definition by the US Census of a person of latin american descent. This is why in the US they classify all mexicans as white and ignore colonial definitions used to identify mixtures; e.g. mestizos - a person of european and amerindian mixture which gives you your typical brown spic.
2. The more slang but honestly more appropriate definition: a person of latin american descent who appears white. This is mainly due to the fact that many areas all the way down to south america contain pockets of people of actual white descent. To make things more complicated, the term hispanic used to refer to a the people of Hispania. Now it's a catch-all phrase for people below the american southern border, supposedly exclusive to previous spanish colonies but no one cares to keep track.

Finally when we come to zim-zam it's obvious he's not like your average mestizo but he's definitely whiter so as to cause that confusion. Much like you, I'm a second generation Mexican immigrant with a white mother. I have no connection to my Mexican heritage as my father being a typical shitskin left my mother when I was about 5 to go back to Mexico. It never bothered me until I started understanding the importance of racial purity and homogeneity and I realized I don't have any real connection to anywhere in the world. Any white burger mutts may understand this feel, but imagine that with an extra layer of brown on top.
