No, but that's not my point.
Manning was a hero while he was getting afghan and Iraqi locals killed and hurting the Bush Administration. When he embarrassed the Obama state department he was suddenly a villain, when wikileaks helped him do this they were no longer free speech, pro privacy vigilantes, instead they were Russian hackers.
The media encouraged leakers under Bush, they attacked them under Obama. This was easy to process because it was just a bias toward Obama. Now that Trump is president they have taken this hypocrisy to new heights though.
Now we see them simultaneously encourage people to leak info on the Trump administration while accusing Trump of leaking info to the Russians.
I'm simply pointing out the double standard here that exists, it's especially obvious with Manning because he is in the middle of it all. The way his actions and the reputation of wikileaks have changed over time is an indication of how far the press is willing to go to get a democrat in office and get rid of Trump.
Manning is still being hailed as a hero though, and was released early by the Obama administration, the former members of which are doing everything they can to destroy any leakers that might have helped Trump.
You should really ask yourself why they like Manning so much.
Ok, but Manning would have been kicked out of the army if he had been openly gay at the time he was in. It's been noted he was bullied for being gay while he was in, and that led to his bitterness which contributed to his snitching.
Remember when wikileaks was considered legit? Remember when the press scoured and crowd sourced for information from them? Then they leaked about Hillary, now they are suddenly Russian spies working to get Donald Trump elected. Now CNN and other News organizations tell you it's illegal to look at them and censor the mention of their material on their broadcasts.
You see them desperately searching for a leaker to the Russians in the Trump administration, while simultaneously encouraging people to provide leaks from within the Trump administration that will provide damaging into to reporters.
