I recently install a newer version of my Linux distro and I noticed that all the webms I make have seeking issues. It seems like the version of ffmpeg encodes webms with vp9 by default instead of vp8 like it used to. When I encode them in vp8 it doesn't have this issue. The issue is present in mpv, VLC and mplayer.

Anyone know why it would do this? Also, can you test the following webms in your media player of choice and see if you have the same issues.

It doesn't seem like either have an issue in firefox however.

VP9 seeking works fine for me in browser and in my media player (mpv), my OS is Windows. I also encode webms with VP9 using ffmpeg without issue. Not sure what's going on with your media player, maybe they're outdated or one of the libraries is?

Unrelated here's a stream copy, I try never to re-encode existing video and instead just slice the video.

Things like Flash allowed people to copy and paste things they'd already drawn, which allowed them to just make a broad set of torsos, arms, legs, faces, etc and then just mix and match for the purpose of making scenes. Now if you want good animation you have to seek out truly passionate animators on youtube who don't make a living off of it to find anything good. Don't get me wrong, there's some nice looking animation done in things like flash, but cutting corners and using templates makes anything and everything look cheap.
