He's abusing his position to influence others to join his cause, and insodoing diminishing the worth of other donors comments that don't agree or aren't related to his personal preference on the topic, and it discourages those people from donating at all if they think their comments don't stand a chance of being read.
The whole metriod donation incentive was fun for a little while, but they already did this shit like 6 months ago at SDGQ and it got old pretty quick then to anyone over the age of 21 who was watching. Now it's just fucking tired and stupid and they need to shut up about it and find something else to obsess over. There is seriously more comments about killing animals than about fighting cancer, so what the fuck is this event even really about at that point? This whole donation incentive in particular is itself cancer and it needs to die.
Even just verbally hearing the words "kill" and "animals" over and over is rather quite unpleasant. Really don't appreciate the way they keep injecting those kind of mental images into my fucking head nonstop all day long. It's almost makes this event unwatchable when every 10 seconds I'm forced to think about poor little cute innocent animals who can't defend themselves and never did anything wrong suffering and crying out in pain because sadists.
I really think the whole kill/save animals thing was one of the very worst most ill-advised ideas that went into this event, ever. It's a great cause and everything and this is pretty much my only complaint, but the thing is it will likely confuse newcomers and outsiders into thinking this charity is somehow in favor of animal abuse. The fact they would even provide a platform for people in favor of killing animals in any context, whether it's a joke or not (it isn't funny, by the way) will be extremely offputting to many people who don't understand what it's about and might take it literally by mistake. As others have said, there were a few good runs this year that fell under that general category. Check the VODs or YouTube uploads for the Jak and Daxter and Deus Ex runs for great examples.
I was around for those, they were fun. Bonesaw and the German guy are very unlikely to come back because of them, which is what I'm lamenting.
