All the city did about it publicly was blame the manufactures of those systems and still haven't done anything to fix them.

There are a few people running to fill vacant spots on the city council, all democrats, and the only issues they seem to care about are affordable housing. Affordable housing here is just a weasel-word for section 8. It costs a lot to live here, there's a lot of hipster businesses so I don't know how the free market even works here, but if you aren't well-to-do you're typically poor and black. All the things the city gets the money for from federal grants or taxes are put into stupid bullshit like the arts and paying a yoga instructor $20 at one of the rec centers. In the meantime they're trying to coax developers into making low-quality buildings to lower the costs for people to live in them. Maybe they could put some coaxing into bringing jobs into the city instead.

I'm starting to think removing the statue isn't just for namby pamby feel-good about dumb bullshit stuff, but to make that little plot of land called Lee park into something they can develop on. When you go there during the day like I did today, or any day, you have to deal with a bunch of homeless people who drift over from the local homeless shelter called The Haven. And almost all the 'homeless' in this place are so by choice, and instead of dealing with the problem the city just tries to sweep them under the rug or move them from one spot to another. All without ever addressing the issue, of course.
