There was a time when I said I "liked anime" and identified as an anime fan. It turns out I didn't really like anime, just a certain subsection of cyberpunk/psychological anime made mostly in the late 80s up to around mid 90s. As I moved beyond this, I found its mostly trash.

I realized when it became physically painful to finish a series and only to write 1 star reviews I should probably stop. Spending time in the "anime community" only solidified this decision.
