Bioshock 2 aged well because it was entirely gameplay focused unlike the first.

Bioshock was great at the time, but compared to FPS games now it's a bit on the clunky side and the characters are pretty ugly (and not on purpose).

Yeah. How it looks does not even justify the 8gigs of ram or system requirements. The animation feels awful and none of the attacks have weight to them. System shock one had more wait in the attacks since it at least felt like you bashed a mutants head in with the pipe.

Warren Spector being the producer of the old system shock and deus ex games who did nothing but take credit for being on the team. Saying that a game has aged poorly means that standards have improved since then, you retards. A lot of old PC games have very slow and clumsy UIs and menus. Some of them have clumsy controls with key binds that are far from ideal (and in some cases they can't be fixed without third party programs).

While there are shitty disasters of UIs these days, like Skyrim, dialogue wheels, QTEs and so on, responsiveness and how fast they are are things that generally have been improved.

Older games also tend to be less responsive in general movement and inputs.

Bioshock is average, as far as i'm concerned that's worse then bad because i don't remember anything about it except for a few moments here and there. To put that in comparison I still remember the gameplay of Area 51 and it's transformation from generic shooter whack-a-mole and that game didn't even give an inch of enjoyment out of me.

And in fact, both the sequel and remake BETTER have cyberspace, fuck you I loved cyberspace.

In fact, the original System Shock is amazing for one reason, it's one of the few games that actually felt like an adventure, unlike in System Shock 2 in which by the end of the game you were this insane killing machine, in SS1 throughout the whole game you are pretty vulnerable but it's through raw skill and smart use of equipment that you reach the end and defeat Shodan, in SS2 it's just based on how many good boy points you spent on your character, which was not bad, but it just lacked the sense of skill that SS1 provides. SS1 was not scary, as if it tried to be, it was SS2 that did with the horror twist and what a mistake that was, as it's a game with freaking cyborg ninjas and the like, SS1 was just a fun adventure in space with a couple of creepy moments, but that was it, it was pure non stop adventure with a focus on player driven exploration, you had your checklist of objectives but they never felt too restrictive on the ways you tackled them or when you tackled them, it felt like you naturally and gradually opened a path towards the top deck where you battle shodan instead of a grocery list of objectives that you complete in order to unlock the next level.

Spoken like someone who never actually played Daggerfall. No one EVER walked or rode across the landscape between towns, you used fast travel to get everywhere. The game has less wasted time travelling than any of the console-era Elder Scroll games as a result.

It's hard to put the finger on it. On one hand I think there's something in the water supply. On the other hand, it shouldn't trigger such a sudden change in people, it would surely have to take many years, wouldn't it?
