Undertale is really just a tragic waste of a decent soundtrack. I tried to play it and it was just unbearably dull. The writing's bad, the graphics are actually ugly (I don't mind low-end graphics, but the color choices clash and are painful for me to look at), the combat is incredibly dull ("What if we take a JRPG, but instead of just mashing attack you just mash attack, then hit Mercy, and sometimes you have to dodge stuff in a boring entry-level shmup knockoff?"), and I just could not stand it. I don't get why this game gets such universal praise.

SU is loaded with SJW bait. It has what amounts to true tumblr-grade "non-gender-binary lesbians" (since the space alien gem people don't really have genders, but seem to identify as female) and thus tumblr decended upon the SU fanbase and gave it ultra-cancer

The second one had shipped one of those gem characters with a male human character. Since all gem characters in the show are lesbians according to tumblr, then this too was sin and the sinner had to die.

This cancer is a very specific cancer because it's cancer derived from people on a multitude of websites that don't play or read anything they claim to be fans of and hop from fandom to fandom. They were the people who didn't read Harry Potter but waved a wand and pretended to be a wizard while gushing over Draco Malfoy, the people who probably actually did read Twilight/50 Shades and gushed like a faggot anyways, the people who didn't read Homestuck past the first chapter because they thought it was boring but shipped trolls and screamed about how certain characters were lesbians, people who didn't play OFF or Dangan Ronpa but popularized it anyhoo, and didn't play Undertale but wax poetic about how it moved them and how they wanna hug the goat.

You can tell people here that played it and even in a lot of other places by the overall "meh" reception to it that pervaded even the Undertale threads before they became an irreparable hive of shitposting. If they're gushing about how GOTYEY it was, chances are they're either in it for the porn (furry) or they didn't play it at all and have no interest in playing it at all (cancer).

If you were there just before launch, there were constantly about 2 or 3 overwatch threads on the front page plus another 3 or 4 in the catalog.

I specifically tried to find these posts by digging through those accounts and couldn't. They do exist, and have posted on /r/4chan before, but as far as I can tell, those specific posts don't exist.

I've ignored the fanbase and it's been pretty good for me. I guess I'm not affected by it as much as I was by Undertale simply because this seems to be a Tumblr-sided fanbase.

At first I thought about posting the FNAF fanbase, but then I remembered Undertale generals like that time I posted something related to the game there and got completely ignored over the avalanche of avatarfagging and memeposting and the OP picture and quickly disregarded the silly mecha furries. Only topped by Star Shitizen in how absolutely braindead its fans are, but at least these seem to keep their dick in their pants.

I actually, genuinely like SU. There are some obvious muh librul undertones but it never feels preachy about it. That video is just picking at straws, but it gets a pass around here because it uses dank memes and those makes every logical fallacy okay. It's a video that doesn't really attack the quality of the show, but instead relies on "well, we all know why this is bad, I don't have to educate you on this" references that the kind of people who already tried to search for that video understand. I mean, the whole "Pearl raped Garnet" is the stupidest shit I have heard in a while, sub Game Theory stuff.

The closest thing I have come across to valid SU criticism around here is that it's "badly animated". I'm not going to deny it's miles away from Snow White or Tom & Jerry, but it's still better than The Jetsons, The Flintstones or even Dexter's Laboratory and none of those are ever mentioned as examples of bad animation. We could argue that it's not really a show for kids, but for teenagers and young adults, but I doubt kids could catch the subtle references so this is basically on the same level as banning videogames for being too violent for children.

I agree though, it has the worst fanbase ever conceived. The bar is so high I doubt it could be topped by anyone else in the following 20 years.

I think saying that a single fanbase is worse than the others shoves aside the shit diaspora that comprises and is responsible for the actions in most of them as it attaches itself to the show or game of the week, month, or year. It often displaces quality and effort made by the original fans, and replaces it with low quality garbage that is egged on when popular e celeb artists make fan shit of it. You can see this from the transition from the old thread simulators, that focused not just on grossing out people, but the elaborate machinations and joking around that those generals had, to the new low effort confession simulators, that just take posts in the form "I want [X] to do [Y] in my [Z]," and while there is a place and time for musing the hypothetical, this is not a featureless plane with a universal constant of gravity not dependent on altitude with no air resistance.
