The dev realized that he could make more money pandering to youtube let's players reacting to all the oh so wacky shit he would put inside the game, than to actually finish the original game and flesh it out mechanically just to pander to the original supporters (aka Holla Forums and /a/ retarded scum that wouldn't even buy his game anyway).
He made the right choice and it's the same choice virtually every single dev made once he actually got a project going starting from here.
Catering to people that won't support you economically and bitch and moan all day vs catering to people that will purchase your game and celebrate every single thing you put in it, it's a no brainer.
