Tarantino is a master storyteller and our greatest living director. Prove me wrong.

He makes the same film over and over again

WARM

BLACK

DINGUS

He is absolutely the greatest auteur of fanfiction of all times, he is just not a creator on his own. His soul is filled with other people's movies, so he has nothing to say of his own, its just fanboyism on screen.

Not at all really. Kill Bill is night and day compared to jackie brown, his two most similar kinos are pulp fiction and reservoir dogs and still pretty disparate.

That was just a ruse to get the general to go for his gun. Also got to have something in there to offset a character who gets called nigger literally dozens of times before getting his nuts shot off. Only really egregious pandering to nogs he did was the ending to Django, still though cut out the last 20 minutes and it's a 10/10.

Isn't that the case with every auteur?

Not at all, and specially, not that obviously.

Tarantino makes trash. Also read the script, he's trying to get him to pull the gun but it actually did happen. It's weird either way.

A true auteur will use what he learns from other movies to tell HIS story.

this
Tarantino has a good eye and can write witty dialogue sometimes, but other than that he really doesn't know what he's doing

Sloppy writing that. Johnson as referring to dicks came from the boxer jack johnson who was famous for screwing white women, unfortunately that was several decades after hateful 8 took place. That script excerpt btw doesn't prove or disprove if it really happened or not (it didn't of course, too outlandish to be anything other than bait) though it does verify Jackson is the only actor allowed to alter lines. They talk about it 13:50 embed related.

I think he does and the problem so many have is that many of his stories tend to involve muh stronk womyn. Don't care for that myself but no denying the way he goes about it - the dialogue and worlds he crafts around it - are the best and most original (as evidenced by now decades of imitation) of any living director.

It's not as if he hasn't done anything worthwhile, but ever since Kill Bill everything just kinda feels like Kill Bill.

A master storyteller indeed, yes. But our greatest living director is HIGHLY debatable.

He's Lynch repackaged for a wider audience

Literally the only piece that can be labeled kino.

An easier case would be "most influential" living director, just the music alone. Of course strong cases for scorcese, spielberg and lucas too though they have never been as consistent as him + are significantly older.

Did you just called Tarantino "consistent"?

Yes. Even his weakest efforts - basterds, django, death proof - are well written and have standout moments.

You mean like the dead white people?

doesnt tarantino own BLACKED?

He's worse on the blacks

Reservoir Dogs
Pulp Fiction
Jackie Brown
Kill Bill
Django
Inglorious Basterds

Et cetera.

This bit suggests it's actually real.

>>>/reddit/
Done.

Wrong. If he had done the plane scene it would have had unnecessary references to things from the 1970s and a sequence where all the characters worship a black dick.

How cucked can you get.

Tbf his mother was a coalburning whore and he witnessed that during childhood so it isn't surprising that he's such a cuck.

Death Proof was pretty terrible.

So if I browsed reddit (like you do) and found a thread hating on him that would make him good?

See

His fetish is white womyn feet not nigger cock.

Pam Grier was hot af tbh.

Yeah but it was supposed to be. Unlike Planet Terror it actually felt like a low budget grindhouse flick.

Blacked owns Cucktino. Seriously though, I'm surprised he hasn't starred in cuck porn yet.

Hateful eight is 3 hours of nothing that ends with 5 minutes of senseless violence because violence is everything that Tarantino can do.

It's 3 hours that feel like 1, his genius is in dialogue + maintaining a constant sense of unpredictability. Eminently rewatchable too, imho.

You are fucking retarded. I stopped that movie halfway because it was so goddamn dumb. Talk, talk, talk, 2 minutes spent nailing the door, talk talk talk.

Do me a favor and kill yourself. You are a Tarantino cum guzzling faggot.

You seem upset. Having downboat withdrawal?

...

huh, so this is what an actual redditor looks like. aren't you people supposed to suck up exposition and pretend it somehow increases your intelligence?

Grindhouse movies are by definition low budget and shit. Yes, it was intentionally subpar. Unlike Rodriquez though who just made a shitty high budget movie with film burns and sloppy edits etc Tarantino made a flick that felt genuinely low budget and hastily written.

Tostinos film legacy:

complete dogshit and yes this counts no matter how bad he wants it not to

rip off of city on fire

decent, but a B- at best and most overrated film ever

great film. funny how he can only tell a cohesive narrative without "muh disjointed chapters" when the material isnt his.

rip off of lady snowblood

trash

the less said about this one the better

decent. suffers from meme chapter directing. the shtick gets old

fucking horrible

his second worst movie (next to DP). what a waste of good talented actors on what essentially is a boring as play.

tortallini is a meme director loved by first year film students who think he actually ever made anything worth a damn

so going by your ratings, his only good films are reservoir dogs, pulp fiction, kill bill vol 1 and inglourious basterds? while the phrase "rip off" has a generally negative connotation to it, if not specified i am free to assume it can mean the opposite as well.

His was best by far of the vignettes.

Derivative sure but what first efforts aren't?

People always seem to conflate "overrated" and "influential". Over 20 years later people are still ripping it off and describing movies as ____ meets pulp fiction. It was to film what nirvana was to rock music, total game changer. Maybe not your cup of tea but no denying it's cultural impact.

Agreed. He should do more adaptations.

Unfamiliar with lady snowblood, did it manage to incorporate anime, spaghetti western and hong kong cinema as well? Also seriously doubt anyone else would be capable of delivering a 4 hour action film with that lack of fat on it.

Agreed

The third act was shit. Stop the movie at "and that will be the story of you" it's kino.

Honestly don't get why this movie is so panned. Besides Sunset Limited can't think of a film that did so much with so little. First movie in years worth watching back to back viewings of too, imho.

all tarantula has is pulp fiction. aside from that, you have jackie b. and res. dogs as minor films, and then everything else is just forgettable.

he's a one-movie director, he'll never have anything more than pulp fiction

Tarantula is a terrible writer, and his dialogue consists of the same hammy one-liner MC talking to either a stronk jew/black woman or samuel l. jackson. He's consistently one-note in all his movies.

You can't really call Pulp Fiction a good and groundbreaking movie when it basically ripped a bunch of developed characters
All the characters where rehashes from other movies, even his own ones

First efforts made by good directors
It actually somewhat did, being a jap movie in the 60's, no HK or Spaghetti because it was a well made chanbara, a highly influential genre for both of them (it invented the spaghetti western at vast extend)
Tarantino a shit, meme director for newfags who think they know kinema

user, you've gone full retard.

That's what an auteur does, though I disagree: more of a scale than a single note. Why a movie like True Romance would still work regardless who directed it.

Example?

Will check it out. Of course he doesn't exactly make it a secret he bases the ideas for his movies on other, reservoir dogs and basterds were even named after other movies.

Stop posting anytime, hollywoodized 56er

I think you replied to me with the last 2
Ozu, Kurosawa, Kitano, Kim Jee-Woon, Na Hong-jin, Tornatore, Sheridan, Refn luckily had Pusher, Von Trier, Pontecorvo, Babenco, Makavejev, Lumet, W.Hill, once upon a time Ridley Scott, Zinnemann, Fuller, Welles, Mann, plenty others i'm tired
Not after getting denying and getting shit on for ripping off the second half of City on Fire by Ringo Lam, a crazy but better director
He doesn't base or homages, he rips or downright steals stuff that are a sureshot for cool or interesting moments that build up a movie if many are piled up like he usually does. The ones who tend to do shit like that are called "compilators", cool stuff scavengers who pass their movies as original even when faced with strong criticism, as they live thanks to a bunch of ignorant or highly benevolent fans who acclaim their efforts, that are usually not bad but don't deserve the original content praise
The trick is to hide it very well or make it your own after much tinkering, something Tarantino is horrible at.

Was he a genius?

Yeah it was good despite the librul critics saying it was nigger exploitation or something. Isn't it strange that libtards call it cinematic slavery for casting niggers as main characters but then want "appropriate representation" when producers stopped doing so.

also pam grier was perfect fap material/10

come back anytime lad

spike lee used to complain whenever any of QT's films said the word nigger in them.

apparently spike lee has no idea what context is, nor did he seem to be aware of sam jackson's defense of its use.

in hindsight, it's quite clear that whatever you think of him, he has the spark of genius

...

you forgot one, dumbass

So what youre saying is he's a good director?
