Of the aspects of SS1 you listed, it looks like ammo types have been reduced, recorders and keypads have been simplified (with the code written directly next to the keypad), and from the footage yesterday it looks like some parts of the first level have been removed. And the cyberworld sequences were not setpieces you retard.

The only downgraded shit has been the inventory system.

To be fair there's hardly any video game puzzles in existence that are actually difficult without being completely illogical or intentionally impossible to figure out.

The Shakespeare puzzle and the hospital keypad in SH3 are the only good ones I can think of, and the keypad kind of ventures into the "Bullshit" category.

The keycode in the original is a text file found right next to the door. This wasn't supposed to be a headscratcher, it's to teach players how the keypad system works with a simple example.

At least have the code be hidden somewhere, a note on a PC, something that isn't so blatantly pointless to make one wonder why even have a keypad there.

Between this and all the prompts helpfully mentioning that the door you want to open has indeed opened or a button has been pressed or a switch flipped I'm starting to think the devs thinks whoever's going to play this is a giant retard.

The original SS actually had a ton of pop-up tutorial messages in the beginning. Really surprising considering the time it came out.
The HUD points arrows to keypads, healing stations, energy stations, and tells you exactly what they do.

Wasn't the keypad code in the original told through some nearby audiolog? That's hardly an improvement, and they probably didn't voice that audiolog yet considering a lot of audiolog seem missing from the demo.

The graphics make me think of Satellite Reign a lot, and I can't yet decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing

It also set a precedent for having to actually listen to audio files for more necessary information down the line, although in this case it was a text file. Same problem, though, it set a precedent for actually having to read a text file for necessary information, because later on in the game there would be a lot of necessary information in text files. Now it's written plainly on the wall because navigating two menus is just too hard, and removing the puzzle that teaches you to read text files for information is a strong indication that later puzzles will go the same way.

I'd honestly prefer the original two with updated graphics and controls, maybe better enemy AI. But I predict the remake will be fun

They've also talked extensively about modernizing and overhauling the game for a contemporary audience. If you believe them when they say that the two-weapon limit is temporary and that the final game is totally going to have the logs they removed from the demo and all available footage, you'll only have yourself to blame for not seeing the writing on the wall when the game comes out.

The graphics look half cartoony, like this was made by Blizzard. Along with the music, the atmosphere of the game is gone. The one thing they should have replaced, the shitty melee combat, remains intact.

The "modern gamers are literally retarded" keypad is embarrassing but it could have still been good had the atmosphere remained, puzzles weren't a big aspect of SS1.

SS1 was a sci-fi dungeon crawler in the vein of Ultima Underworld, but since you can't really call dungeon crawlers sci-fi, they just called it action-adventure.
SS2 was more of a FPS/RPG hybrid with less elaborate dungeon design. Bioshock then dumbed down SS2's core even further. Hopefully the devs still realize that SS1 was meant to be a spritual successor to UU, and that Bioshock was not what the original devs had in mind.
