Unreal Tournament

So there is a new Unreal Tournament and I realized I have heard almost nothing about it even though it is even playable.

Why so? Is it bad?

I guess no one cares.

It's fine it's just lacking some content and needs a proper release, I had a lot of fun with it for a few weeks, I'll play it again some other time.

Well if the game is actually okay, but no one even here is bothering to care don't complain when Quake LoL Edition comes out.

I played it for a while. It's fun. The gameplay is preserved. There are some new modes.
Some old maps are remade, some new ones are made.
It just needs more work. Having only 2-3 models gets annoying fast though.

It needs more work but it's probably the best modern shooter that we have.

no, it's good, they just don't market it enough.

Then why is no one talking about it? It seems to be even more dead than Quake Live probably because it is not steam. If Holla Forums is not talking about it and not playing it who?

Most are afraid due to that chineese company involvement - Tencent.

Truthfully it's as pure as it gets. People don't talk too much because it's the same game as previous UT games.

By the way.
How the fuck do I autoaim rockets ? Do I have to follow people with my cursors or sth ?

No, the new UT is the best FPS out right now but it has no advertising.

Also the game gets updated slowly since it has a skeleton crew working on it.

???

No it fucking isn't, you didn't have slide, link gun pull, wall slide or rockets that move at 60 mph in the other ut games.

They change shit about the mechanics without understanding the formula and the dev team claims to be taking input from the community but the only "community" on their forums are UT 99 elitists who have deluded themselves into thinking that game was perfect in spite of its shit weapon balance.

Only about 6 devs are working on it.

Yeah it has no advertising because its still in pre alpha

Skeleton crew means as few people as possible working on it. And yeah, its getting updated at an abysmal rate which is inexcusable for a large publishing company. Fuck UT 4.

How does that work ?
Which ones are faster ? I can't tell anymore, haven't played older UTs in decades.

These are still smaller changes, compared to those in Doom, Quake, CS and etc.

You say that as if slide and link gun pull are bad things.

Slide is call of duty bullshit, and link gun pull would be good if it were well implemented but its not. Right now its a fucking death sentence, but then UT weapon balance has always sucked. Quake is better.

tencent

Early access / alpha means no one with a clue will touch this shit and the oldschool FPS audience is well clued. This arrangement of total access plus repulsion guarantees minimum hype and no one will likely even notice if the game is released or cancelled. I feel sorry for the devs they dumped on this, they must be interns or something.

Got any argument besides buzzwords?

Tencent doesn't own Epic, they just own stock you idiot.

no they aren't, in ut 99 rockets moved slow as fuck to emphasize dodging and leading, You could charge up 6 of them which was fucking retarded but were it not for that they'd have been perfectly balanced.

In ut 2k4 they were almost useless because of dodge jump and double jump. Also link gun pull makes tracking way too fucking easy, it actually presented some challenge in the previous ut games but in this its just so braindead easy that a 12 year old playing with a controller with a broken thumbstick could do it, its absolutely disgusting.

They own 40% of the stock

48.4%*

They still don't own it and in no way have they hurt the new UT.

I don't understand what link pull is.

But the link gun has been considered a retard weapon from it's very introduction to UT.

It always has been retarded, yeah, dps is insanely high in all of the games, link gun pull is what it sounds like, when you have the link on the enemy you press alt fire and it pulls the enemy towards you. You know exactly where they will be pulled since they can't resist so it makes tracking easier.

Because if you're going to play an online arena shooter, you might as well play Xonotic or numerous other free ones that are already highly polished with established communities.

Theres like 2 maps, and one of them doesnt even has textures

And the graphics are underwhelming for a shitty engine that was hyped for almost a decade

They take so long to complete content that you may as well wait a decade.
They also intend to monetize community content.
Exploiting greed will ruin any potential UT community ala paid mods.
