Wasted Potential

Games that look like they could have been a lot better, but didn't execute it right.

Looking at Lost Planet 3, a prequel that starts out during the early days of colonization seem like a good place to establish how E.D.N lll went to shit. The devs designed a whole base with a quartermaster, a guy who fixes your Rig, a laboratory for upgrades and all that with quest to to do. They had the grounds for a Lost Planet with management of a colony and tons of missions with clearing out Akrid Hives and dealing with Snow Pirates. They could have made a large map with regions in them that were ripe for extracting T-Energy and fighting off competition. They could have been moments where your base gets raided by Akrid draining your Thermal Energy reserves, killing staff and if you're not careful lose your base or Snow Pirates with the chance of being robbed of your resources that may be use against you which can also take over your base as well. They could have gave the player the choice of either going full Snow Pirate or stay with NEVEC. Yet in the end it really wasn't open or felt large like the last two, they weren't going for the old formula with gameplay and wanted to copy The Last of Us and Dead Space and even then it was rushed out so it wasn't even completed.

Alpha Protocol

MGS5 was half done with Part 3 never ever gonna happen

That game could have had more, especially with The Legion having little back story to it. Thye could have talked about each conquest with some lore master in the camp to talk about Caesars conquest across the wasteland with every tribe in great detail.

That was the spy game right? What was the story of that game and how was the gameplay?

What potential?
What are you talking about?
The aim of the game was obvious from the start.
It was shit from the start.

Speaking of Lost Planet anyone got 2 on PC and wanna coop?

did someone say wasted potential?

I wouldn't mind Lost Planet 3's approach if it went for a Metroid/MGS Peace Walker approach. That'd be awesome.

Nigger, that's wrong, it's third person with the camera closer then the previous games.

It was, however with things like the setting and everything put in the game would have been something to add to the series for the better if done right.

Everything else fell apart.

That too would be good, with surveying and exploring a large map.

Who gives a shit? Game was obvious to have different, worse gameplay.
If you want characters go read a VN or watch some walking sim.

It really sucks that they hired Nicolas cage to do the main character.

HOLY FUCK
I just searched Nicolas cage on Google and there's news that his wife was caught cheating on him and he's going to get a divorce!!!

every game, /thread

Did you even read my OP? I wanted the gameplay of the previous games and thought some some nice additions like base management would have been a better direction then The Last of Us in space.

It was Bill Watterson, the character looks a little like cage

Is the JUST meme getting out of hand?

If Sony have half a fuck then PSASBR could have been something pretty major.

*gave half

3DPD, not even once.

How about you go back to sucking dicks user

Is there any celebrity out there who hasn't gotten a divorce?

I'm honestly surprised that David and Victoria Beckham are still married.

It's probably because David is too dimwitted to realize he's been cucked 9000 times already

You're not getting cucked if you're not aware of it. The usage of this word has gotten completely out of control.

Anyone who played Crash Twinsanity 100% saw all the behind the scenes shit that shows all the things they had to cut. Entire worlds. Entire playable characters. The publishers pulled the same shit on Wrath of Cortex, which was supposed to be an open world game like Twinsanity, but they made the devs start over and release the game in under a year, firing the guy who was previously in charge. You'd think they'd learn since that game got less than stellar reception. But good enough for them. So they did the exact same thing to the sequel.

Now the team that made the other Crash games, the ones that weren't Wrath of Cortex or Twinsanity, are doing the remasters. I guess they accepted Universal/Vivendi/Activision's jewry with less complaining, and just churned out assembly line games on time, so they get to keep working on the series, while the actual good devs are nowhere to be found.

But this still pales to Sonic '06. It's become the new meme to call Sonic '06 Sonic Adventure 3, and people get mad, but it obviously was trying to be Sonic Adventure again. Heroes and Shadow were similar but built around central gimmicks, while '06 brought back Adventure Fields and everything. If it got past an alpha prototype, I still think it could have been the best 3D Sonic game. It showed tons of potential. But then it ended up so unfinished nobody wants to play it to see the potential that was there. They didn't even have time to properly dummy out half implemented features, like the gems Sonic can collect for extra abilities, which don't drain the meter they're supposed to drain, so Sonic can have shit like infinite invincibility, or infinite jumps. When people bitch about this game, they really bitch about the wrong parts. They act like the glitches make it hard to play, but they don't. The real problem is that it's so unfinished it's basically still in debug mode, which makes the game absurdly easy.

For that matter, Lost Planet 2 feel like it couldve been better, especially since it seemed like they tried to do a monster hunter thing with everything falling short of being good
