Capitalism does more than reinforce it; it is what upholds it as an institution and gives racism its power. Class society is where the origins of identitarian divide lie, and it is only in a society in which such divides cannot legally be upheld or find motivation to be upheld that it will cease. It's incredibly basic materialist rhetoric, and to think otherwise is to be an idealist in the most basic sense of believing that racism is simply a problem of attitude (that attitude change must come is a banality not even worth mentioning).

Even if in their sloganeering they declare their opposition to the capitalist (a bunch of other qualifiers) patriarchy. But it is theory, and it does provide one interesting clue as to the operation of the spectacle and the economy. Racism, compiled on top of things like economic oppression are present in some people's lives and not others. And more importantly, some people are not going to be able to internalize this fact and will outright deny it as I think you're doing. That is a great tool for the bourgeoisie to divide us, when one section of people can look down at others and say "you're oppressed in this way? Nah, can't be true because my life doesn't experience that and therefore ain't real to me"".

Again, let me stress that capitalism is the answer to all of our woes. We all of different color and chromosomes all are being oppressed by the same thing. But some of us do experience some unique problems others won't. Doesn't mean they get special snowflake status. But they should be able to raise their hands and say "this is happening to me guys, I need help with this". And the rest of us workers should be able to say "don't worry, I gotchu. We're fighting it together because your problems are my own". Its all capitalism at the end of the day, but there are unique people with unique relationships to capitalism that need help from others who don't have those problems.

Serfs have some meagre rights (they have a contract with their master whilst slaves do not, even if it's shitty) and are only tied to the land ie cannot be freely exchanged or sold as far as I'm aware.

Serfs can own property, money and escape serfdom without necessarily having to buy their way out (it's obviously very difficult), and the serf's lord has a few petty obligations that he must meet to fulfil his part of the contract between himself and the serf.

Slavery was still abound in medieval times, albeit more so in the Muslim world, but nonetheless they were a distinct social group from the serfs in Western Europe.
