Shitposting in the cyclical MN9 thread made me crave a good Mega Man general.
Have you played any good Mega Man games recently?
I just got done playing Battle Network 1, should I really play Network Transmission next or just skip to 2?

I wanna have sex with tronbonne.

...

great post
me too

Who doesn't?

...

Killing X at the end of Zero 1 was the highest point of my Mega Man life, even since beating MM2 for the first time at a sleepover 30 years ago.

But then I would be a little girl instead of a man user.

No you'd be a robot.

Does a robot little girl stay a little girl forever?

Finished X and began X2, but lack motivation due to that game feeling lackluster compared to both X and X3. I might go back on ZX too, for an Aile run in memory of Heavy01

Both Copy X from Z1 and Omega Zero from both Z3 and ZX were fun fights.

i would use loli roll flexible silicone body as a masturbation aid any day

I haven't played the Zero series because the art style kinda puts me off of it, is it as good as everyone says it is?

Also, a question that is plaguing me for days - What is ZX's canon story ? Aile+Grey, Vent+Ashe, both or neither ?

Think at a more challenging X with emphasis on close combat, continuous dashes (or "Mighty no9 done right") and a decent story. You won't care about the art style by half of the first game.

Just Mega Man Legends unfortunately.

No it isn't. The series is full of awful level design that either a) is full of just-off-screen instant kill hazards that you have to memorize the location of to avoid or b) is a long uninspired flat corridor with hardly any platforming. It also has a horribly implemented RPG grind/collectible system that it punishes you for even using.

It's very good but since it's intended for a portable system, the camera is too close and levels not that long.

Zero 1 is much different from the rest, with a metroidvania world and a mission system similar to Alien 3 and a metroidvania world: the sequels grew progressively closer to the X series. Story is also kind of meh in 2 and 3, but very present in 1 and 4.

This faggot doesn't know what he's talking about.

I blame it on being a mobile game.

As far as I understand it, seems to be neither. Both is incompatible, IIRC, but every outsider reference to the game seems to imply both happened, so fuck if I know.

More important questions: Why is Cossack the best character in the franchise, the one who did nothing wrong?

...

I just want Tempo in a game so i can rip the model and use it for nefarious purposes

...

She's the finest carbon you will ever meet nigger

I always wanted to make a Mega Man fangame, but I lack the musical capabilities to do so.

He let his daughter get kidnapped. That's plenty wrong.

I want to fuck robots.
By which I mean Palette.

Then do the same that Romhackers do and use music from other games.

The lack of Palette porn is something illegal.

He's Russian, he was probably drunk at the time, cut him some slack.

I had never played a MM game before the whole MN9 shitstorm (actually I had played the first one but never got past the yellow devil)
So I started with 1, beat it, then 2, it was awesome and 3 which was pretty good too but kinda annoying. Now I'm playing 4 and I killed all the bosses except ToadMan, I'm having a blast.

After the six first NES games I'll try X out
I'm also doing like shit in college because all I do is playing these games

But that makes it less authentic, and I thought that was looked down upon by most ROMhackers. The ones I've met at least.

ROM hacking and fangames are a balance of authenticity. You want as much authenticity as possible, sure, but you also want to avoid having such high standards you end up having a bunch of unfinished hacks cooking for a decade.

IE most anything on Sonic Retro.

also so long as we're talking fangames

Why would you DO that!??

Fun games to marathon. You can beat them pretty quickly if you are decent.

Played everything again from 1 to 8 all in a row last year, and the entire X series some time later.

This fag always post videos of its fangames but i've never seen him releasing one of them. What's the fucking point?

Seems to be a common trait with JP amateur devs. Frustrating as fuck.

This asshole has the talent to make an amazing 8-bit remix of the X-Buster song for a game but still can't release the game itself. Fucking nippons.

...

What do you all think of MM A Day In The Limelight? It's a fangame where you play as the robot masters each with their own abilities and classic MM stages tailored to those abilities.

...

Be the loli yes.
Lose to cock no.
I would want to have sweet, tender love with another girl/a good guy.

Cossack is a role model for children.

Why does Cossack look like a modern day twink?

Holla Forums tends to turn their noses up at Mega Man 2, but I like that Mega Man 2's Robot Masters have multiple weaknesses. Every Mega Man after 4 got really copypastey.

I love the Zero series because of how much of a badass they made the character in both gameplay and story. In terms of sheer power, durability and the likes Zero is undoubtedly the weakest fighter, but he makes up for it entirely via speed, skill and technique, becoming a major powerhouse by the player's own efforts of skillful dodging and melee combat. Zero is fighting copy X in Zero 1 and after the first phase he even calls X "too weak". In Zero 3 when he is told Omega is the "real" zero and he is just the clone he just shrugs and kills his real body. Weil tries to taunt him in Zero 4 and Zero just gives him the most nonchalant "fuck you" before fighting for the last time in his life.

Out of all the characters out there, Zero is high on my list of "badass motherfuckers you don't want to mess with".

Yes, but I am very biased. Get the DS compilation if you can.

he's the original owner of the look, user

I wish someone would give the X series as much care and detail as the zero series was given. X just felt like a series that stumbled around trying to make anything out of whatever came to mind and kept adding on more and more bullshit until it completely distorted what the original was like and was instead a very slow and easy generic platformer.

Why is this ending so somber?

I be you kiss girls faggot

...

why is there so little good mega man porn

Is there a single Mega Man girl that's nearly as great as Luna? I don't think there is or ever will be.

...

So mad!

...

That would also have been an acceptable boss fight.

Yeah. The one she stole that left outfit from.

What could Roll even do?

She's not a fighter. Doesn't even have any weapons.

She's like Zero, but with a broom instead of a sword.

I don't think she's strong at all and a broom is not exactly a weapon.

She's just a maid.

I guess now we'll never know!
Maybe she could have gone all toroko and turned into a monster.

...

She can have Ruby-Spears Roll's arsenal, including vacuum and toaster arms.

An user on the mighty thread suggested me some megaman clones.
i'm gonna repost them here.

Being playing RKS and i'm enjoying it.
Beated the fire bomberman stage and the tower with the gal who is praying. the remaining are beating my ass (can reach the swimsuit boss easily but haven't figured out a way to kill her)

Posting my favourite theme so far

...

...

i wanna unhinge her crotch plate and rub my shaft on her sweaty vulva

What is the best theme in the X series and why is it sky lagoon

are they all games where you play as little girls?

Elecman is best robot master

He's probably like me, where he's made a million Mega Man fan games, but because it's a labor of love, he wants them to be perfect before he releases them, which will realistically be never.

This is the best theme in the X series.

Still waiting for X: Corrupted but I played that Unlimited fangame and it was absolutely spectacular, I liked it better than Mega Man 9 or 10.

Wishing Omega had better AI since Zero 3's ending bosses were insultingly easy. Also that Dynamo was mentioned whatsoever after X6 since he was a pretty good replacement for Vile.

Kek.
Does this mean that Alia was meant to appear in Legends?

Decisions.

I've been meaning to play through the Mega Man games forever, but never got around to it. This seems like a good place to ask for guidance, since my only experience with the games is flailing around in MM1 and MM9 when I was a child. Not interested in spinoffs like Battle Network.

Which games should I actually play to get a good understanding of what makes the games good? (I know about the core series on NES and the X series on PS1, but are there others?)
Which emulators should I use?
Are there any garbage titles I should skip?
Is there as much shame in using E tanks as I think there is?

All advice is welcome. I've always felt like I was missing out, but the series is so long-lived it's kind of daunting.

For the classic series, play through all of them in released order (or any order you want), 8 is the weakest of the series, but the Saturn version is pretty good. Play that version.

For the absolute fundamentals? Classic 2 and 3. X1 and X4 are probably the best examples of the 16 and 32 bit X series, respectively.
None. Some of the games are borderline impossible without them.

I've never even seen a Sega Saturn. What emulator do you use?
god i'm such a fucking millennial, aren't i?

My intention is to play through all of them, which I guess I didn't make clear. I was just wondering if there were any which stood out among the rests for being good examples of Mega Man gameplay.

Yabause, there's also a version of it for the Wii, but I haven't tried it out yet.

...

What the fuck happened? This game is easy as fuck. Is this because I'm playing on normal difficulty? This isn't challenging at all. I'm about to try Wily's castle, here's hoping this is a bit more difficult

Mega Man Unlimited was 10/10

Yes. The "Normal" difficulty of Mega Man 2 is actually a western-only EZ MODO. "Difficult" is what the Japanese got, with no option.

This series gave us some wonderful autism back in the day, particularly in the fanfiction and sprite communities. I'm glad it was a passing thing, and is now gone.

This is only six days old: themechanicalmaniacs.com/stories/series9/friends3.php

Wait fuck wrong image

Fucking ctrl+c didn't work right. Could've been worse though so hey.

You both are idiots, and you both should release your shit once you're done working on them, even if they're not at a state you're satisfied with. I challenge you to put them all up for download in the very thread, if you've got the guts.

All the NES classic titles are great, and you should play them in order. 7 and 8 aren't bad, but they're not essential. 9 and 10 are basically more of the NES games. The SNES X games are much better than any X game that came afterwards, with the exception of X4. You should skip X7. It has nothing of value whatsoever, unless you really want to know how Axl is introduced to the games.

Just git gud

alright thanks.
Tell me, does this apply to other NES mega man games asides from 2?

I simply don't. The one I'm working on now is the one, though, I'm sure of it. It'll be ready when it's ready.

Also, why the fuck did they give the americans an easy option in MM2, while other companies made ninja gaiden 3 and battletoads harder than the japanese versions

I believe that MM2 is the only one that does it.

Aile is love.
Aile is life.

It's not that there's more of it. It's that it makes you do even longer stretches of a decently difficult game at once, which is just adds tedium rather than difficulty.

My favorite Mega Man classic besides Unlimited is Mega Man 7. Are there any fan games with that snes style?

also 8 had some really cool music

Dude, I don't think anyone has replicated 7's style.

What about Rock Man & Forte? From what I'm seeing that is 7's style. That any good?

It's alright. It was made so poor kids who couldn't afford a psx could play something like 8. Just don't play the gba version.

i am disappoint

RM&F/Mega Man & Bass uses Mega Man 8's style, not 7's. Nothing mimicked 7's style that I'm aware of.

It's alright, all of Mega Man's mobility was basically stripped and given to Bass though. Mega Man gets to slide (only useful for half-height corridors with cd's and such Bass can't acquire) while Bass gets a Mega Man X dash/dash-jump, double jump and a machinegun buster that can be aimed in several directions but can't charge.

Oh so it's the PS1 X game where the actual main character is being gimped so that whoever the director's OCdonutsteel could get the limelight?

Bass was introduced in 7, dude.

I know and I actually liked that fuck but I really hate X4 and X5 where X is gimped to make way for Zero.

Ehh kinda, levels are still designed around Mega Man and obviously so but Bass's mobility is more of an advantage than a requirement and he's disastrously weaker than Megs. Bass shoots a stream of bullets that do one tick of damage individually but don't ignore invincibility frames or go through walls while Megs still has charge shots, you don't get a better damage dealer until optional upgrades much later and you still have to pick between getting shots that go through walls or more powerful shots.

Also I lied, there's two arcade games that use the Mega Man 7 style, Power Fighters and Power Battle.

Gordon Freeman?

Almost yes. in whomp'em you are a native american with a spear. in Doropie/Krion conquest you are some teenage looking witch

Got a link for RosenKreuzStilete that works?

Every thing I can find has been removed from the DDL sites and the torrents are dead with no seeds.

Here, mr. user.
Have a blast
i'm not even sure if 8ch will let me post the link

Thank you user.

Isn't Inafune actually to thank for that? I remember him saying on a Gamecenter CX review with Arino that Zero was what he originally wanted X to look like when he was asked to draw the character, and they said "No this isn't what we want Mega Man to look like", and pushed him to be a side character.

I believe Inafune was assmad about this and slowly tried to squeeze Zero in as the protag because he wanted him to be X so badly. I think Zero was what he wanted the original Mega Man to look like as well, but they pushed it aside and used someone elses design and only because of him drawing an unused design he claims he "created Mega Man" or some shit.

Fuckin' Inafune.

He's already stated that explicitely.

INNAFUUUUUUNE

Yeah, I've literally played everything and now I'm playing them again because of Mighty Number 5.9.

Literally how? Mega Man games are short as shit except for Legends and the RPG like games.

...

EXCUSE ME

Let me dredge up some more of Inafune's Greatest Hits. I had a lot someone made into an image when we got to our 2nd delay but I didn't save it and never saw it posted again.

>These remakes [MMPU and MHX] are supposed to symbolize me trying to get the consumer, as well as the designers in Capcom's Research and Development, to understand what Mega Man is. So by going back to the series' roots, people will play and think, "Wait, this was a lot more fun than I thought." Then maybe it will prove that making Mega Man X9 or Mega Man 9 would make sense. If these new games are not supported, as much as I dislike the idea, then it wouldn't make sense to make those sequels.
