Neat! thanks user.

Is it worth any time?

It's 5 minutes long
It's incredibly easy
It's pretty poorly optimized

This is just a proof of concept that they got the movement system of the 2D Castlevania's down into 3D.

I've finished it. Its an early demo, so I won't say it's doomed just yet. They have the ingredients, but overall, besides the way you get spells, nothing really feels impactful or entertaining. Its kinda dull in my opinion, but I did find myself getting into the SotN mindset so hopefully they'll tart it up enough by the time it comes out and make things feel a bit more thrilling. Those spells are way too tame.

Reminder that IGA Castlevanias are shit and that Circle of the Moon is far superior to anything that hack ever shat out.

Oh look, its the same autist from every thread

Reminder that Circle of the Moon is overrated

Where does Super Castlevania IV rank? I am playing that right now. It's pretty fun.

Classicvanias = cotm >>>>>> all other metroidvanias

those clever bastards.

See why I said overrated? It's not even close.

here's your (You)

Plays okay so far. Just isn't too much to it so I'll have to reserve my judgment for when the game actually releases. Maybe it'll be better than MN9 or maybe it'll just be another Kikestarter failure, who knows.

The main character is hot.

Also, who wants to bet it'll be delayed several times like MN9 was? The game is currently scheduled to release in less than a year, and I find that hard to believe.

Well, unlike MN9 most of the stretch goals will be worked on after the base game is finished.
But still, 1 year seems a little short to make a castle bigger than SotN's.

Been done to death already. Color me uninterested.

Doesn't 4 years seem like a long time to make eight small linear stages? MN9 shouldn't be used as a standard for anything.

The people who are actually uninterested didn't click on the thread. Or if they did, they didn't post.

Try harder next time.

demo is for backers only?

What the fuck is this? Someone post screenshots/ webms. Please.

It's pretty low ranking for being 2easy and the sprites are 2large, but the /mu/ and some level design is nice

Aria of Sorrow clone starring some chick with big tits

Yes it is user, yes it is.
Backers "only".

...

It's really good some people even consider it the best Castlevania, I really like it but it's way too easy

If you got a criticism, by all means post it.
Saying "I'm not interested in this game" is worthless. It adds nothing to the topic and it's just attention seeking.

You really want to go into every thread of games you don't like, and post that and nothing but that in each one?

We don't count posts you've made overall. Unless you post austistically in a single thread, where we then use your postcount to make an ad-hominem attack on you because this is a chan and you're not supposed to feel strongly about things you like because its not funny anymore.

Yes reddit, only the hotpockets can see your post history and if you've got a gilded comment.

Go away newfag.

Lurk moar.

I liked Circle of the Moon as well.

I only posted here because I like Castlevania and hoped this game would be a fresh take on it. Instead it just seems to be a retread of IGA's other titles. Sorry if my post wasn't "productive" enough for you.
Really?

Holla Forums is a chan though.

...

Ok I gave the demo a shot. I didn't fight any boss, maybe where wasn't one I don't know. Seemed like the path was blocked on the top level. I did find a secret wall, so breakable walls. I also dig Kung fu shoes and kicking. The controls might be a little floaty for me though. Dunno maybe it gets better later in the game like CotM.

Anything involving crowdfunding gives me instantly low expectations.

Notable Successes:

Notable Failures and/or Controversies:

I think the bad outweighs the good.

So, comparatively speaking how much it took for Iga to release a demo compared to Inafune?

There's a boss. I don't know how you didn't manage to get to it.

Mighty No Bloodstained confirmed.

Reminder that Classicvanias are superior.

God damn it japan, learn how to computer
Got way way below deck and the game crashed when I exited out of the menu too fast after equipping the "Kung-fu boots".
I think the backstep is technically faster than her jog cycle so I'd spam that on my 2nd run.
I liked the hidden wall item staple.
Kind of like how the boss deforms the sail at one point that lets to cross to the upper deck.
Like how you periodically see the boss while advancing though the level and would think it would be your typical monstrous cracken-esk monster.
I liked how switching to the Kung-fu boots changed her boots, the hairband gave her a hairband and unequping the scarf makes it vanish but was sad when unequiping her armor doesn't make her more scantly in seemingly any way.
Big boobed sea-monster was nice though.
I can already imagine that the boss is the end result of the glass curse shit the protagonist has to deal with and is very kin to say the plot of Madoka.
Really like the directional magic, but the water attack that has to use the Y button which forces your hand into a shitty claw motion on a gamepad unless none of them in that category are meant to be aimed which very well could be the case.
Ran though it a 3rd time because there were 2 parts that seemed like secret areas you needed a movement ability to get to.
Most powers seem like random drops from specific enemies borrowed from obviously the castlevania series.
Farmed every enemy and nothing seems to change character position.
Figured if I used fire while aiming down it might propel me for some reason but nothing.
There are some neat abilities though.
I like how the ingame cut-scene has her equipped with whatever she is equipped with.
Minus points for being incredibly similar to the intro of God of War and I think that which should not be named Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness aka Castlevania 64 2 aka how to not transition well from 2D to 3D the sequel.
Miriam feels very weighted which I like.

8/10, Would buy on a steam sale right next to Double Dragon Neon, Strider (2014) and Mighty Number 9.

Nigga, what are you doing?

On sale.
I bought ARES.
How much worse could it be than that?
How could anyone fuck up a Megaman?

You really don't know about MN9? It's worse than Ares.

Im telling you, STAY AWAY from that shit. It's fucking shit, it's not even "meh decent", no, it's an abomination.
It's really short, cheesy, no skill involved, i-frames everywhere. Thats it. Watch some fucking gameplay and cry.

Want to elaborate fishtits?

They fucked it up so bad that Wii-Us would rather commit suicide than play it.

Its looking good. Looks like it'll scratch that SotN itch which has been bothering me for years.

It's uninspired trash.

You're uninspired trash.

The footage I've seen looks like they got the feel right, which is really the key thing MN9 doesn't have whenever you ask a Mega Man fan how it plays. There is no unintuitive dash through mechanic or other over complication to the formula (so far at least), the levels look decent and the action is about the pace you'd expect. The goal was always just "make another later style Castlevania" and that seems to be exactly what it is. The main thing we don't know about it overall castle layout, will it be as fun to explore as some of the best castles, or will it drag in areas. But that's also the one thing a demo can't tell us.

I know this is a demo, but are keyboard controls unfinished? I mean i can't figure it out, i only got that z is backstep, v opens the menu, x exits the menu and n opens the map (besides moving with wasd, obviously).

Well, I'm buying in next paycheck.

Character is responsive (but the animation when you change direction makes it look floaty) and the weapons and shit are fun. For a demo/first level it was pretty good, and the boss was straightforward enough. summarised more nitty gritty stuff.

Push buttons you git. E is magic, left click is attack, right is… another magic weapon I think? (E was fireblast and right mouse was flail dropped by the big armoured guys)

Right. Anyone who backed this game wanted an Iga-style Metroidvania game in the same style of SotN, Aria and Dawn of Sorrow. People complaining that it's not a Classicvania are missing the point. Not made for fans of that in the first place.

The demo was made for a controller, since it's their E3 demo and we all know the press can't into PC. The keyboard controls are definitely unfinished.

More like cumstained, m i rite fellow redditors?!

...

it was better than nothing

ARES is a working game
MN9 has a chance to brick your computer or console

Feel free to buy it anyway, it's your money, but just saiyan, man. I mean, if Bloodstained is a fully working game that won't put your shit at risk, then sure, go ahead and buy it. But do not buy, or even pirate, MN9.

you forgot z, z is backdash

just finished
dont know if it will be another aria of sorrow
since the only monster that i coundt get its "soul" was morte

I played aria of sorrow, this is shit compared to aos. still, it's not terrible, and it's just a demo, so I'm cautiously optimistic.

as long it doesnt turn out like MN9 where the beta was also the final product it should be fine

I just didn't care. Like I said in my op, stop being a git an push buttons.

Are you pretending to be retarded?

Go back to reddit

So no? You're actually this retarded? Okay.

Played it, it was nice. It's kinda telling that it looks so much better than MN9, I mean shit did MN9 even ever have a demo at e3 at all? Controls did feel unresponsive at times and overall there is a need for polish, but otherwise it was fun.

ALSO DEM WATER TITS

Hey? You know where these whiny passive aggressive rhetorical questions would go over really well? Reddit.

No thanks i'll stay at my favorite yotsuba style imageboard TRIGGER WARNING: also called a chan so I can trigger retards like you

Does it really take six and a half minutes to look that up on Know Your Meme?

Someone is triggered. Come back and post after you've lurked more, my redditor friend. Maybe next time you post people won't laugh at you for not knowing what a chan is.

MOAR

Posting best CVs

There are people now that refuse call chan a chan?
What would you call it then? Imageboard? That's exactly what chan is.

it's an imageboard

So basically chan.

yeah an imageboard, or a channel, since chan is short for channel.

also quads

oh wait fugg

f u g g

f ugugg

wew. i'm unimpressed

Easy as shit.
Enemies pose no challenge whatsoever

m not a fan of the enemy designs
and that makes me miss mermen, axe armors and skeleton heads from 'vania games

stage design is okay
pretty classic boat stage from vania games

my only complaint is that
few enemies in the room
and its too easy

Looks decent so far. Main game will probably be harder. Gotta make sure those journalists have fun.

Don't fall in the rut of "probably"
I remember retards saying the same shit about MN9 and look at how it turned out.

Game is garbage. Only wankers who are shit at games play the Metroidvanias. It's you guys fault that Classicvania died out for buying that shit instead of good games like Adventure ReBirth and Chronicles. I hope all of you get raped in the ass by Cthulhu's cock for enabling scum like Iga.

Yeah. Its almost like it was made for people at E3 to play assuming they'd be shit or something. :^)

...

...

It has it's flaws, but it's still one of the better games in the series. A lot of people complain that it's too easy, but really that's a problem with all of the 16 bit games. I honestly thought Rondo of Blood was easier, at least Route A, or whatever it was called in that game.

HoD > CotM

Is Castlevania Lord of Shadows worth my time?
downloading it right now and I don't know if I should stop the download and never think about it again.

Since it's already downloading I'd say give it a shot, it's a pretty good scenery porn game, and action's not all that bad

Undertale and LISA also weren't failures

Do you like average action titles? LoS is basically God of War with one weapon, light/dark magic that heal you/boost your damage and unlock extra moves, and Uncharted style ledge climbing. Oh, and a style meter-lite that rewards hitting and not getting hit with magic juice. The scenery can be nice sometimes, but it often lacks color. The music is uninteresting, and you'll hear the same theme play over and over again while not in combat. Most of the puzzles are shit. The story starts okay then just nosedives into terrible right at the end, not counting the dlc content. I found the combat better than God of War, but not by much.

It was retroactively a failure because it got popular. Come on it's 2016.

Oh, I forgot the qtes. Lots of qtes, some of which come unexpectedly in cutscenes.

it's really not that much fun but if you want to have Patrick Stewart yell at you it's unparalleled value

Still salty about Armikrog.
I donated like 250 bucks to it 3 years ago.
I was fucking sure it's gonna be great, the whole original cast was there, even the composer. Hell, TenNapel even visited this place.
Now I know better.

Fuck you, Spelunky is a fantastic roguelike metroidvania

You are now aware Risk of Rain was made by an /agdg/ user.

La-Mulana beats the shit out of any Metroidvania that doesn't have the words Super and Metroid in the title anyways.

It is neither of those things.

La-Mulana is the Indiana Jones game I never knew I wanted.

sure is reddit around here

Sure is casual around here.

It's the only game since 2004 that's made me break out a notepad to beat that shit.
Sequel soon, fellow adventurer.

underage get out

sage for shit game by shit dev

Sure, maybe for the first 25% of the game. But the broken power-ups and pathetic bosses turn the game into a FUCKING JOKE. Even Prime is better.

How do you make a game that's called Castlevania and make the music utterly forgettable? That really pisses me off.

The only thing I remember about the music was the "Music Box" stage, and for obvious reasons.

How do I get my money back?
