There was a single mission for WC3 where you played the Orcs when the Dark Portal was first created. It was great and was supposed to have a continuation but was abandoned right after release. What a shame.

You can't say that dwarves and elves outnumber humans just because more units are of their race. You'll have more peasants and footmen for most of a match than any other unit, unless you got some freaky focus or some later-game builds. Two of four heroes are human. Humans do most of the heavy lifting in the alliance, the other races provide specialists.

LoaP has a stunning variety of variations but most of them were juvenile cancer. Stll a few good versions came out like Power Ultimate that had loads and content, even if unpolished. Still, imo, the best map was a made from scratch Real Life [For Morons], because it had such a great abundance of secrets and events you could enjoy it even in singleplayer. Also Darrow City was pretty good for multiplayer due to politics and economy, but it had a way duller humor and in general was less creative and just copied previous successes.

Metastasis and Dark Deeds were probably my biggest favorites because instead of just being a competitive game of sorts you actually had to deduct which of the players is the bad guy, which is fun as fuck. Also Dark Deeds had a pretty cool tech tree, same with Founders of the North. Fuck, builder maps, how I miss them, I loved that stuff even when it was imbalanced as fuck, building comfy fortresses and fending off sieges is great fun.

You're thrown into it, no idea about classes or items and before you know it the first round starts.
After that round you have like 30-60 seconds to learn about what shops and items there are and suddenly new round already.

Also WC3 made me hate dota since it appeared. Often 80% of custom games would be fucking dota, nothing but dota and you'd be lucky if you got enough players for a game that requires 8+ people.

One map I'm sad never got finished was something chernobyl. It was a puzzle type map where you'd also need to answer questions and could then proceed. Had a really nice atmosphere.

Also some of the Civilisation / Risk type maps were fun, although I seem to remember them more fondly from SC1, same with LotR themed maps.

How long will the campaign be?
Which ears will it cover?
Will it change the canon or end up with his canon death?
Do we get more human units? I kinda thought something similar to WC1 and the Kul Tiras forces.

I just want humans to have a chance to be badass again. They were pretty badly treated after WC2 and most other races are just special snowflakes in my opinion.

They didn't even get a proper campaign in TFT. The "Alliance" campaign featured the Blood elves.

Well, a lot of fantasy and science-fiction settings treat humans as the very "average", the jack of all trades, the boring choice.
Other races are almost always better than them in at least one aspect and all they have usually is their numbers or something.
And so on. Maybe HFY came to be because in those stories humans are never the best at anything but they still strive and prevail and they (usually a human protagonist and hero) still end up killing the BBEG.
Probably a similar appeal to warhammer, where the human imperium mostly hangs on due to sheer tenacity.

I think the distinction your looking for is that Elves are smarter in an abstract sense, while dwarves are smarter practically.

There is actually a somewhat active community playing WC3 on tft.w3arena.net/ (since the regular battle.net has build in lag to compensate for the bad internet connection of its time).
